Happy Father's Day, Phil! We missed Mother's Day...oh well.. maybe next year
Hello y'all. I was in the hospital for a brief stint over the weekend. I'm glad to be out, and doing well after some I.V. antibiotics.
I want to post a couple of songs in memory of my Dad, who passed in 2002. This is a song he played on the guitar, sometimes acoustic and sometimes electric, innumerable times, starting when I was little. He loved Django, and played many of his songs. We used to have some on 78's. He was a self-taught musician, and he could play about any instrument he picked up. Some of his other favorite guitar players were Leadbelly, Les Paul, Andres Segovia, John Fogerty, Brian Setzer, Chuck Berry, and Mark Knopfler.
I was looking for some piano like my Dad taught me before I started lessons, when I was 7. He wanted me to play back-up for him, and he taught me a barrel house or boogie woogie style, starting with some chords and bass. This simple song reminds me of this.
