Eh- let it stand John- what's the big deal really? So what its a few years off.. I'm sure I have made the same mistakes... Anyway, she offers a rare perspective on stuff- especially outside the U.S. for me during this turbulant era...so? As the Beatles would say...lol... Let It Be....
Thank's Nyack, must concentrate as well as listen next time,Doh!
have been holding off because my music posting has been an unfortunate failure
But am I to believe that my buddy ;JT has been missed
he was a big influence in the 70's,and is still touring to this very day
I got an email from him recently
he not only got into the rock and roll hall of fame a while ago
but in the last few years has been receiving awards around the world
starting with the US National endowment for the arts, president Obama gave it to him, then he received the same award from France as the OBE is to Britain
and there's more,I won't bore you
of course you cannot talk about the 70's without fire and rain, and You've got a friend ( Carole king too), but whenever you're ready to post him, please pm me
I know all of his best songs, some even have my nickname siouxz in them.
Tasunka- we can start a special thread for James Taylor if you like- I am not all that familar with his music other than the few you mentioned-
Fire & Rain- James Taylor
You've Got A Friend- James Taylor, Carol King
Carole King- Tapestry (Full Album)
THAT WOULD BE SO FINE!!!!!!!!!
a peek at his philosophy of life is
"the secret of life is enjoying the passage of time, there ain't nothing to it,any fool can do it"
and some others that have impacted my personal life
he has been making music for 40+ years, some of his post 2000 stuff is phenomenal, yes,I know his whole disography, and can hand pick the best of the 70s,80s,90,s and beyond,
By all means Nyack,I would be honored
and so will he when I see him in June.
You gotz it friend! I will start a thread, but I am really not all that familiar with his songs- if you cannot post them... just tell me which ones you want, and I will go get them!
I found this, too- which might interest you Tasunka-
Amchitka is a 2009 two-CD release of a recording of Joni Mitchell, James Taylor and Phil Ochs performing an October 16, 1970, benefit concert at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. The event funded Greenpeace's protests of 1971 nuclear weapons tests by the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission at Amchitka, Alaska.
I have posted some songs from James Taylor at that concert in this thread-
Joni Mitchell and James used to live together
then he married Carly Simon for ten years, producing two children, Ben and Sally, both great musicians who have their own albums.
He is now married to Caroline "Kim" Taylor, they produced a set of twin boys now about 14.she used to be the symphony administratorfor the tanglewood ssummer concert series, he still has her use her connection to the choir for his concerts.
I get guitar lessons by email from him, the first lesson was about his special nails, he actually has an ancient looking nail toolkit, and hardens his nails for picking the guitar by reinforcing them with an epoxy like substance. .he nails are always long and strong!
As long as we were talking about Atomic Energy and the 70's ...hehe
Iggy Pop- Lust for Life (from Trainspotting)
Iggy Pop & David Bowie- The Passenger
