The Northern hairy-nosed wombat, also known as the Queensland hairy-nosed wombat, the soft-furred wombat, Yaminon, the Moonie River wombat and nicknamed the Bulldozer of the bush, is Australia’s rarest marsupial and considered the world’s rarest large mammal. Once prominent throughout the whole of eastern Australia, this cuddly animal now ekes out an existence in a single, tiny region in Queensland.
