"In 2004 the copyright for the following sections of the Course as found in the original "Criswell Edition" were placed in the public domain by the Federal Court: "Text", "Workbook for Students" and "Manual for Teachers."

The Foundation for A Course in Miracles still administers the copyright for all of the changes introduced in the Second Edition and Third Edition as well as "The Preface," "Clarification of Terms," "Psychotherapy": Purpose, Process and Practice," and "The Song of Prayer," as well as The Concordance, and all the translations of the Course.
