Tell NBC that diminishing the cruelty of torture and abuse really is not acceptable! Go to http://fortheloveofthedogblog.com/news-updates/chris-rock-jay-leno-trash-pitbulls-think-vicks-crimes-funny-video-action-alert and read what was said, then follow the link to NBC's site.
Jay Leno: "It's amazing to me that you mistreat a dog and you lose your career and go to jail for two years."
Chris Rock: "What the hell did Michael Vick do, man? A dog, a pit bull ain't even a real dog. A pit bull, that's the white stuff. Dogs are white mans best friend - dogs have never been good to black people."
When I read these words, I was astonished and disappointed. Astonished that anyone could still take this attitude about dogs in general and pit bulls in particular. Disappointed that two public figures could express such sentiments, that to abuse another living being is OK or somehow not cruel and abhorrent.
These are two men I used to find entertaining. But now knowing their feeling on the issue of abuse and that they both apparently are of the mindset that non-human animals are less deserving of living a life free of pain and torture, I will never look at them the same way again.
Was it not bad enough when Kathie Lee Gifford made her ignorant comments about Pagans? As a Pagan and a mother to three canine children, I have to wonder why it seems to be that NBC has more comments like these being said on your network.
