This year I'm going to start a few new projects to boost organic awarness in my community.
*First is my plan to "sow seeds of change". I'm hoping to buy non-GMO seeds and sell the seedlings at my in-laws' vegetable stand this planting season. The seeds will come from Seeds of Change and I'm donating the profits back to them. I'll be keeping some for my own garden, of course, so I'll have a whole new batch of seeds for next year. It's important that farmers have access to non-GMO crops because they produce fertile seeds, have no negitive affects on the environment, and have better taste & nutritional value.
*My other project is much sweeter. I'm going to make and sell jams, pickles (sweet & dill), pie fillings, and soda syrup using my & my mother's organically grown fruits and cucumbers. My mom and stepdad have been trying to turn the back area of their property into a small fruit orchard, so this will help to occomplish that goal. The closest orchard to where we live is more than 50 miles away.
