Political Prisoners February 07, 2005 7:40 PM

We have to talk about Political Prisoners. Yes, we have them here in the United States. This country is no different than any other country. We have at least 100-200 political prisoners, besides Mumia.  [ send green star]

Is there any way to find out just how many politiacl prsioners there are being held in U.S. Prisons? I would be interested in learning how many there really are.

I doubt the DoJ would release that information. Under the Patriot Act they can say it is classified information, as on ongoing investigation is being conducted on the detainees.

However, if you can find out any info I would greatly appreciate it.

Political prisoners aren`t necessarily current. Many are from back in the day, like Mumia Abu Jamal. Not that there aren`t a lot of new ones to go with them.

They`re all under the Patriot Act now though.....

There is information about Guantanamo Bay, where many "suspects" of terror have been held illegally. I have 2 posts in the group Human Rights Network , 'Irreversible Psychiatric Symptoms' in Guantanamo Detainees  and Guantanamo Soldier Details Sexual Tactics .

I also ran acrossed some information about a man, one Rabih Haddad, who is being held a political prisoner (as far as I can tell) via the INS. The U.S. has done some very illegal activitiesit seems in their treatment to him in regrads to his civil rights. I found one slightly amature  seeming site documenting his case which was actually very informative. If you care:'&hl=en
