Everybody, enjoy the weekend.
Rose just for you, sorry to hear you are in pain. Hope the physio helps on Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody! Sending good thoughts and hugs. Hope that everyone is feeling much better too! ❤
If I might ask, those who are on Facebook, would you please go to the article I posted here http://www.care2.com/news/member/369563110/3160641
It is about liking the 'surf dog Ricochet' page on FB. Every new like = a bowl of food donated to shelter animals. It's a great page that helps both people and animal causes. The campaign ends soon, 3/31. Thanks for considering this.
Done, thank you Judy, every little helps the shelter dogs.
Love all those dogs Viv
Judy, beautiful article for the love of dogs but was unable to click since I don't have facebook.
Thanks to all for helping with feeding the shelter dogs/cats campaign! ❤ Today is the last day and I'm hoping that they can get enough likes to take advantage of the maximum amount of food that the company will donate. I'm also hoping that Iams will still donate the maximum offered even if the goal is not reached. As you said, Vivien, every little bit helps! And Jon, I appreciate your always supportive comments even though you're not on Facebook!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Jon hope you are feeling better
Hello to anybody else that pays a visit
ROSE, VIVIEN, JUDY, JON, EMILY, and anyone else who drops by...
I have 'net connection again! I've been 'unplugged' for 2-3 weeks. now I have over 3 thousand emails and messages to catch-up on :s
My daughter and her partner left for NY Saturday morning. They are getting married there 5th April. Lesbians can't get married here (ie nsw australia, yet). it's awfully sad for me that i can't be at their wedding.
Still having ongoing dramas with mental illness and addiction in close family member. A few other members of the family aren't v sympathetic and make unkind, thoughtless statements, and suggestions that make the stress worse. It's a big strain on me financially, mentally, emotionally, physically. And just when i feel like we've made some improvememt we go back a few steps.
Bobby the tabby had to spend another few days at the vets but is back home again.
A gladiolus and best wishes to each of you
Welcome back Thubten you have been very noticeable by your absence. We have missed you.
Sorry to hear you cannot be at you daughter's wedding, that is sad. I wish her and her partner a happy life together..
Sounds like you are going through a real hard time at the moment. It must be exhausting dealing with addiction and mental health problems, especially in close family members. I hope you can find time for yourself, you certainly could do with it.
Do you every go on Buddhist Retreats?
Sorry to Hear Bobby had to go back to the vets. Dexy says Meow Bobby!!
Sending you Thubten!
So good to see you what a %#&!*% they cant get married here in Oz My friend Ben and his partner had to get married in Brazil. I very happy for you daughter

So Sorry to hear about this ! some people will never get mental illness or addiction!
Thought I should take time and drop by for a change!!!
Sad to hear that you have so many problems, Thubten! But congratulations with the daughter getting married!!!!!!!!! So sad you couldn't be there though.
Isn't about time Australia become a bit more modern? How about making a petition against this stupid rule about who marrying who??????? I will sign asap!
Now when we are so helpful as we are. I have a little favorit. It's for Doctors with no borders and helping starving, really cute, babies in Africa. It's fast, just takes a click that's all!!!
Have a lovely Easter and see you soon again!!
Huge hugs to everybody!
Hi Thubten, glad to see you back!!! I hope your daughter and her partner have a lovely marriage in NY. It is sad that you won't be able to be at the ceremony. Hopefully it won't be long before laws change everywhere. Gay marriage has been and continues to be a fight here in CA, unfortunately. Anyway, best wishes to the newlyweds.
Sorry to hear about the situation with your family member. That makes life difficult, and without the support of others, or at least a little kindness and understanding, it adds to the already heavy stress. I hope that you are remembering to take time for yourself to do those things that let you relax and lessen stress. I like Vivien's suggestion of a Buddhist retreat. Perhaps we could all join together there!!!
Glad Bobby is back home again from the vets. Hope he is doing well now.
My Nellie and Rusty kitties send a friendly purr to Bobby and Dexy.
Good to see you here Yvonne!
Have a great week everybody!

Thanks Yvonne, I clicked and book marked it so I can continue to click daily
DEXY, NELLIE, RUSTY
VIVIEN, ROSE, JUDY, YVONNE & everyone else! Thanks for the welcome back and kind words regarding my children (brought a tear or three to my eyes)
VIVIEN - I've been on quite a few Buddhist retreats. They were awesome experiences. I'm a long way off being enlightened, but at least my heart and mind were opened a little each time.
ROSE - my best wishes for a lifetime of wedded bliss to your friends who married in Brazil.
YVONNE - I admire Doctors Without Borders - MSF - it was good of you to pause from your studies to say HI, and to bring that link to our attention. Bookmarked!
JUDY - it would be wonderful if we all met up! perhaps if not this life, the next?
I agree that Australia needs to get modern and legalise same-sex marriages. Some of us are working on it.
Have a great day!
Thubten, that is a purrrrrrrrrrrrrfect kitty picture. I can almost here them purr with happiness. Hi Vivien, Rose, Yvonne, and Judy.......! Hugs bear hugs to everyone.
Congratulations on your daughter & partners wedding, Thubten.
These days children at least are growing up with less stress on who they are naturally & the laws have to change. As far as mental illness & addictions I don't believe the medical profession ever knew what they were doing really in the care for those people. Just my opinion.
I hope you all had a nice Easter break.
Found time to do the puzzles Thubten and had some fun thank you.
Here is some music to start the week with:
Thanks for the John Denver music, Vivien. Such good songs! My foot is tapping and my head is swaying, I will consider that part of my exercise routine for today!
A few days ago, I received some weird messages that I contacted Care2 about, but have had no response. Wondering if anyone else received messages that said the subject was a birthday greeting ecard from Care2 but the profiles who sent the two messages were obvious phony members (spammers probably). First, it is nowhere near my birthday, and more important.... how were these spam profiles able to send me ecards? Don't people have to be on your friend list to do that? I didn't retrieve the cards as I knew they couldn't be anything worthwhile. Anyway, just beware of this gimmick. Hopefully Care2 will be able to figure it out but am not holding my breath.
Hi Judy, this has been happening to a lot of care2 members & Care2 know about it saying its a glitch in the system that they are working to correct.Hopefully it will be fixed soon.
I also have had these cards Judy. I thought it very starnge as they were addressed to other people that I did not know, they were not on my friends list. I sent them back to Care2 with a note.
Glad you liked the music, thought we need something cheery to start the week.
That makes 3 of us
Thanks for letting me know of this 'shared experience'. Sometimes I wonder about the security on this site. I also wonder why they keep so many obsolete accounts here. I guess it helps their numbers to say they have a bazillion members, but really.... The two account profiles that sent me the ecards supposedly were ones created several years go with nonsensical names, no friends, no info, and no use.
Oh well, will just keep a positive thought and be thankful for the many wonderful people here that actually contribute to helping causes, like all of you who are reading this. Hugs to you!!
I had cards sent to me too
Thubten, wishing you a speedy recovery from your knee injury. Please take the time you need to recuperate so that all heals well. Until then we'll miss you here but send positive thoughts and warm hugs your way.
for all the group: if you are safe and well, I am glad about it, but if you have any kind of pain/pupa, I hope you feel better soon. My eye is almost totally healed, still not on 100% activity. Un beso para tod@s
Sorry Alicia I could not make the connection. Thank you any way.
Have a great weekend.
Delighted to hear your eye has nearly healed.
Thanks Alicia, I got a chuckle from the political humor. Glad your eye is better!
Vivien, try this link http://www.care2.com/news/member/962020790/3084865
The "visit site" link no longer works, but the first comment contains the joke.
Hi Everybody had trouble logging on yesterday.
Rose said they were doing maintenance.
Hope you all have a relaxing weekend.
Hi Vivien and everyone. I had the same issue with care2 of signing in and care2 e-mails not deleting. What was funny is I couldn't log in but I could post a comment but the commment wouldn't take unless I loged in. It was that way for two days then I delete my cookies and back to normal. Going out for my Birthday today as today is my B-day another year older and wiser. Everyone have a wonderful weekend. Hugs to all.
Jon.Wishing you a wonderful day & a happy,healthy year to follow
Have a wonderful birthday celebration, Jon! Sending your trademark 'bear hug' to you on your special day. ❤
Everybody I hope you are enjoying the weekend.
HAPPY MONDAY TO ALL!
I've also had Care2 problems too. Besides that, severe pain everywhere has limited activity for several days. I hope I can concentrate and sit up for long enough to reply to a few threads and messages, but if I don't, please understand that my intentions are good, and that my thoughts are with you dear people.
Love and hugs to all of you
(Image shows Charles Darwin in his 'Tree of Life')
Sending hugs to you Thubten and hoping your pain will ease. Take care. ❤

Judy and Thubten love the cartoons.
Thubten glad you are feeling a bit better. You certainly worked your way through the news
Have a great weekend

Then there's the noise of a drunk Irishman accompanied by Australian laughter
Thank you Tubten, Love Buffy Sainte Marie and Dylan Moran.
Please note in case you missed the alert.
PHIL HANSEN, amazing art
The comic strip below is the first appearance of Garfield, in 1978.
Before he was a movie star, Eric Bana was a cast member of Full Frontal. an Australian skit-based comedy show in the 1990's. Here we see him portray one of his more popular characters, Poiter!
Note: 'Poiter' means Peter, hehe
Thubten like the Eric Bansa
Have a gtreat weekend all
Thanks for the entertainment, Thubten. Not familiar with Eric Bana. But haven't seen a mullet in ages!
Thank you Thubten, Phil hansen's art is really amazing!!!
Love the Garfield history.
There is a type of Australian humour (do not know what it is called) maybe you know Thubten but this video of Eric Bana typifies it. Like "Kath and Kim"
For Everyone Enjoy the Month of May.
I did enjoy that thank you Vivien
for a laugh, or a shudder...
Horrific Album Artwork

Hi Vivien, David, Alicia, Rose, and all others who drop in...
Vivien...Thank you for the Neil Young...one of my favourites
I dedicate this image to my son, whose birthday is tomorrow (12 May) - that makes him Taurus.
Hi Thubten, glad you enjoyed Neill Young.
My daugher Alison is also a Taurean born on 27th April.
Tell your Son we wish him a and a great day.
Belated birthday wishes to Alison!
Happy birthday wishes to Thubten's son and belatedly to Vivien's daughter!!! Hoping that the year ahead brings them the best!
Have a wonderful weekend everybody and thanks to all who post here. I appreciate the fun comments and entertaining videos, etc. Don't always comment, but I do check in. Am trying to shorten my commuter time and get off my butt more, so am trying to do the most I can here in a shorter time, little bits here and there throughout the day.
Thank you Tubten and Judy have conveyed your wishes to Alison.
We have just had a lilltle Drama, Alison just rescued a lilltle bird from Dexy.
We put it in a container on the bathroom window ( Thought if it recovered might like to fly from there ) it has a puncture and was bleeding slightly but still very alert. As Alison gently stroked it it suddenly found the strength to fly out the window only to plunge into the shubbery in the back garden.
So I struggled through to see if i could find the wee bird with no luck. So I continued hanging out my washing with alert ears to see if I could hear it.
Suddenly could hera it swaking and saw miss Dexy in the shrubbery. well Alison came with a broom to shew Dexy away. Alison went into Shrubberyy coudl not find the bird, I went into shrubery and could not find it. So we decided to let Dexy find it, which she did so I swiftly went in and rescued it. I fell into the bushes holding the bird aloft , I was a picture with hair askew and leaves and twicks sticking out . Alison said she should have had a camera to capture the sight.
We have named the bird "Lucky" having escaped danger twice. She is now recuperating in Alison's bedroom .
This post was modified from its original form on 11 May, 12:26
That's excitement you could do without, Vivien. I am glad Lucky is recuperating in a safe place. Our 2 cats are indoor cats, so occasionally they may catch a fly! I used to take them out for short periods into the backyard and Nellie surprisingly caught a bird once. But between me chasing her and the bird's mate swooping down on her, Nellie dropped the bird which flew away amazingly unharmed into the tree. I can't blame the kitties for what is instinctive, but I always cheer for the birds and am glad they survive the scare.
Wishing 'Lucky' lots more luck! I suggest Alison keep a camera handy in case of further adventures - it would have been priceless to see you, our friend emerging from the shrubbery! But nevermind, your description was quite picturesque, so I don't have much trouble imagining the scene
Here's Woody Guthrie's granddaughter, following in his (amazing) footsteps...
Took Lucky to the vet yesterday and sadly they said her/his legs were so badly damaged that it would be best to put her/him to sleep. It really upset me as the little bird was so alert, passersby must have wondered what was wrong with me as I could not stop the tears rolling down my face as I walked home. I could not keep her indoors as soon as she got a wiff of the out doors it was as though she was on a high. I did not know cats like rain. When it rains she happily goes out gets drenched and the comes back to be dried and off she goes she can do this several time on rainy days and night. Often she will jump on my Bed alsolutely soaking. On rainy nights I keep her towel handy.
When she was younger she used to bring in folliage and feathers as gifts.
The vet said that unless you find a tiny bell that bells are not really good. I have also thought that I would not like to have a bell constanly ringing in my ears (however saying that I do get tinitus from time to time) . thankfully this does does not happen often.
Thubten, Alison said she good not be so cruel as to take a picture of me in such disarray. She said I looked a right state a bit deranged!!!
Woody Guthrie's grandaughter certainly has the voice and the spirit of her grandfather. It certainly takes me back to the sixties. Thank you Thubten.
Judith was glad to read about the one that got away I bit you cheered as I would have done.
Everybody have a great week.
For all Mum's who are celebrating Mother's Day Today and even if you are not this is for all Mother's.
vivien, I hope you feel better now!!!!!!!!!!! I send to you a lot of kisses and a candle for Lucky
Happy mother's day to those celebrating and those honoring their moms! Thanks for the beautiful video, Vivien!!
Sorry to hear about the little birdie. You did the best one could to help and care for him, so in that way he was truly Lucky.
I am surprised that your cat likes the rain! Kudos to you for dealing with a wet cat in the middle of the night hopping onto the bed. When we had an outdoor kitty, she hid from the rain or came inside. At night, she always stayed indoors. As she got older, she became more of an indoor cat which was fine with me. She lived to the age of 19 and was lovable but stubborn, a true cat!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and great week ahead.
Thank you Alicia for lighting a candle for Lucky that was very thoughtful of you.
Nighteen years old was a great age for a cat Judy. She really was a Grand-cat!!

Life truly has its ups and downs...my daughter was in hospital last week having 2nd op on endometriosis. Ovary removed.
I forget to say that thubten and your daughter, you are on my mind! all the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Alicia!
Thanks Alicia! Your comment about "every day is mothers' day" reminds me of what my mom used to tell us when we were growing up, that every day is kids' day. I guess it's all whatever your perspective is!
Thubten, it looks like your daughter had a beautiful setting for her marriage! What nice memories. Sorry to hear she is dealing with medical issues. Yes, life does have it's ups and downs. Makes us appreciate the good times so much more.
Thubten thank you for sharing your daughter's precious wedding photograph. It looks really beautiful, love the dress (which girl is your daughter?) Also it must be lovely to have a new daughter-inlaw.
By the why what are you daughter and her partners name's?
