 Google translation (diificult to understand)---------

Sir, WITH RESPECT TO THE HUNT IS ANNOUNCED Street dogs in neighboring settlements are NOT BY THE ASSOCIATION OF NICHE hunters We hereby inform you that in March 2010. The Act came into force on wildlife and hunting, which in its Article 29 stipulates that dogs and cats without the owner or owners of control if they represent an immediate danger to wildlife, may, under prescribed conditions without special permission removed from the grounds and the Minister specifies the conditions and method of removing these animals from hunting. minister not passed bylaw that would regulate closer method of removal of abandoned dogs and cats from hunting, and the alleged bylaw certainly must be in compliance with the Animal Welfare Act, which severely forbids killing animals despite de it contained, so the animals are out hunting can only be removed in the manner provided by law and It is the collection by an authorized service and their placement into shelters. As the adoption of this Act ceased to apply old Hunting Act according to which he was allowed to cull of stray dogs and cats if they are in hunting, that every dog and cat murder is a crime . therefore announced that the shooting of cats and dogs in hunting, we inform you that it has severely forbidden to undertake all measures to prevent the execution of criminal acts that have announced, and that if there is a killing of homeless animals by members of the Hunting Association against the same shall be furnished criminal and other applications. The above article 17, paragraph 3 of the Law on Animal Welfare regulates only a matter of authorized deprivation of animal life, and not the means and conditions under which it may be deprived of life, and is a reference to this article of the law on the issue of killing stray dogs and cats in the hunting grounds, especially in a situation where abandoned dogs and cats are not a threat to the safety of humans and other animals. Article 15 of the Animal Welfare Act are dealt with in a clear manner of conditions, ie, cases in which one may be deprived of life, animals, and kill dogs and cats certainly not anticipated by any of the above points

All signed as usual Val. I keep up with petitions but less involved in other group activities. I now have a full time job coping with shoulder pain. Saw the surgeon a few days ago, looks like I'll be disappearing again for a few months in the new year for a shoulder reconstruction. More time away from Fred - dunno who will miss the other most.

Subject: DAYTONA, stop selling FUR!

Dear DAYTONA TEAM,

I understand that your online stores are selling many fur or fur-trimmed items, made with real fur. We are sure that if you knew what goes on behind the scenes in the fur industry, you would not want these cruel products to be a part of your collection.

Millions of animals, including rabbits, raccoons, and foxes, are painfully trapped in steel-jaw leg hold traps each year.
Those who don't freeze or starve are usually beaten to death or suffocated when the trapper arrives hours or days later. Animals held captive on fur farms spend their short lives crowded in wire cages where they suffer from inadequate water, disease, parasites, and stress.
These wild animals never get used to the human contact and some of them even chew their own flesh, because they go mad. The animals are killed by anal electrocution, poisoning, or suffocation.
Those who don't die immediately are skinned alive.
Sometimes they are only hit in the head and then skinned in order to better preserve the fur of the animal. After that some of them wake up and die after 10 minutes of great suffering.

People assume that a scrap of fur on the collar is fake and I assure you that many would be appalled to learn that it is real. I trust that you cannot, in good conscience, support this unnecessary torture inflicted upon millions of animals each year.

I hope you will decide to eliminate all fur from your online stores after considering this information. Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely:

Subject: Galgo's, Spanish hunting and racing dogs

Dear Sirs

The National Geographic is a widely-read magazine and, as such,it has the power to bring people's attention to situations and problems around the world. It can also influence people and make a difference. There is a story in Spain that has never gotten international attention and should if there is any hope of resolving it.

The situation with the Galgo (Spanish hunting and racing dog) is horrific. Every year, upwards of 50,000 of those beautiful, kind, loyal and calm creatures are neglected, abused, tortured, abandoned and killed in horrific and sadistic ways. The "preferred" method of killing is called the "pianist method". The dog is hung from a tree branch with a metal wire around his neck and his back legs still touching the ground, but barely. It can take DAYS for the poor animal to die in horrendous suffering. Galgueros (Spanish hunters) also kill their dogs by burning them alive, throwing them down abandoned wells to slowly die of hunger and thirst or simply abandoning them to fend for themselves, where they are often injured or killed in road accidents.

A lot of Spanish people consider these dogs to be vermin… quite a step down from the companion of royalty and aristocracy that the Galgo used to be.

Those poor dogs never know the warmth of a home, the kindness of a soothing touch, the good feeling of having a full belly and the love of a master. Their life is nothing but misery, hunger and pain.

It would bring worldwide attention to the problem and might put pressure on the Spanish government if a well-known magazine such as National Geographic were to do an article on the plight of the Galgo.

The story of the Galgo and its fall from grace would make for very interesting reading and would also shed some light on the relationship between people and animals in Spain. After all, in Europe, they stand apart in their ill treatment of all animals, not just Galgos, although the Galgos are by far getting the brunt of it.

I hope National Geographic finds this subject interesting enough and thought-provoking enough to make room for it in its pages and bring the plight of the Galgo to light so that, perhaps, we can put an end to it and allow these loyal dogs to finally live a decent life, free from pain and terror.

Thank you.

 Sincerely:

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

A black bear cowers in the corner of a pen in rural South Carolina. She is tethered to a stake, surrounded by hundreds of onlookers.

She is foaming at the mouth and popping her jaws, behavior that means she is terrified. Her captors have cut or removed her claws and many of her teeth, leaving her defenseless.

Three hounds run at the bear from one end of the arena, barking furiously. Some of them bite her face and legs. Others jump on her. She backs up on her hind legs, trying vainly to shield her face. The assault continues for four hours, as nearly 300 dogs attack her in quick succession.

This spectacle is a bear baiting competition, called a "bear bay" by participants, and is practiced only in South Carolina.

By modern morality, the sport of bear-baiting is a repugnant form of blood sport.
I ask you to ban it and prosecute those who continue to participate with felony animal cruelty.

Sincerely,

You're doing an admirable job here thanks Val!  I'm signing all that I'm eligible to sign, and promoting to fb, twitter.
Here's my comment on the South Korean whale petition which only has two days before they decide....

With respect Prime Minister, I urge you to consider other issues. I am absolutely opposed to the slaughter of whales. As a citizen of this planet, and an Australian, I maintain that no country or organisation has the right to take the lives of these magnificent sentient beings.

Please, I hope you don't mind me adding another whaling petition that was attached to the first and might have been overlooked:

I was worried about signing the Slippery Rock petition as it looked like an excuse to slaughter abandoned pets. So I didn't sign it.
