What you need to begin:

First go to your desktop and right click. Go to new, then to folder. Create a folder. name it whatever you wish. like my website or whatever. lol

This will be where you will save your website too as you work on it. So you can keep track of it. Makes it much easier!

I find it easier to work on your site while it is on your computer and then upload it online.

There are programs to help you create it, but we are here to learn to do it ourselves. I often will use dreamweaver, it is a program but I really prefer knowing what I am doing lol.

Second you need to get space online for your site to be.

I prefer yahoo geocities, but use whatever you want. Yahoo has no popups and just a closeable banner with its free sites.

And just go ahead and get a free site for now.

So if you are going to use yahoo you will need a yahoo account first. Just remember whatever your yahoo id is, is what your website will be named as. So for example: my yahoo id is lilstorm_love and my site is http://www.geocities.com/lilstorm_love/

Signing up is free just go to: http://www.yahoo.com/

if you ahve an account you can always create another to use for this, I am Just do not forget your password! lol

Then go here: http://geocities.yahoo.com/

You will want to sign up for geocities free webhosting! yes it is completely free lol

next pick a catagory for your site. Just remember the adds will be based on the catagory.

Once you have a site, go to your site which for me I would go to http://www.geocities.com/fatesblessing/

1. And click on File Manager
2. Then click on Open File Manager
3. This is what you will work with when you upload your site

Index.htm is always the main page of your site. The first page people will go to when they click your link has to be named that.

Anyways do not worry about this for now. We will come to all of this later Remember we are going slow....
