Hmmm, I can list what I do, but that is not really "who I am", but I know of no other way to do this so...I work in the computer tech field, second shift; I do a varity of things in my spare time, despite there being so little of it lately (some of which are pyrography, I dabble in electronics, I am studying ancient Hebrew, I read widely, I listen carefully , and I try to speak only when I have something to say.
Hi Leslie, thought I would stop by and see if you have any diabetic receipes. You don't seem to have a topic for it. I went looking earlier for a group that does and can not find one. Is any one else here a diabetic? If you like I could post some receipes that are good. Offer some information and what I have learned along the way. Looks like a nice group to go and explore, so I shall. Catch you Trivia later.
Judianne! Its so good to see you here! A diabetes thread is a great idea! Feel free! Anxious to try your recipes!

Leslie, thank you for the warm welcome. Just a quick aside, I never received your response because I tried to track my topic. I have now make it all topics. Will work on the diabetes idea - another group has a lot of folks with diabetes - and there is nothing in care2.
Helloooo one and all! And to Judiann for the invite here. *hugs*
A quick intro (as I'm without internet access at home at the moment and am using the library). I'm Rain, 37 and have just returned to live in England (hence the non internet connection). I have BIH (also known as PTC), Diabetes type 2 and high blood pressure. Although all that sounds quite scary I am in reasonably good health at the moment - and long may that continue.
Looks like this has the potential to be a really good group. Look forward in popping back in once things have settled down. Hope to be back online properly again by the end of the month.
to this group and I hope you will travel around it and find some useful information - it is loaded with with. Pisces has put some great information here for us all. If you have questions on diabetes or can give us some hints and recipes we welcome your input.
Health is a moment to moment choice, deep on purpose breathing, self-respect, meditation, yoga, walking, and a positive mental attitude...affirmations. Infinite Blessings, Spencer Be Well... Peace!!!

I'm (Over) Committed to A Cause October 27, 2006 2:24 PM
I'm a middle aged therapist in a children's mental health program in West Virginia. When I come home from work, I write science fiction and horror and promote my work any way I can -- 50% of author proceeds are donated to prevent child abuse. I can't afford to advertise (specficworld gave me one year free), so I ask for assistance from everybody I talk to on the internet.
A very positive review of my first novel was written by the editor of the Missouri Review and should be on its site sometime next week.
Another review is below:
RARITY FROM THE HOLLOW, A Lacy Dawn Adventure, Robert Eggleton,
Lacy Dawn is the last person you would pick to be the savior of the universe. She’s in the fifth grade in the backwoods of West Virginia. Her best friend – Faith, is the ghost of a school mate that was beaten to death and lives in a tree. During recess she gives advice to her schoolmates about their future. Her boyfriend – DotCom, is an android that has lived in a cave for thousands of years keeping watch over her lineage from the first days of humankind.
Her dad - Dewayne is a disabled vet and her family is on welfare. Tom, the next door neighbor, grows "buds". Jenny, her mom does the best she can. Lacy and DotCom do some "reprogramming" on the parents to make them smarter and stronger and Lacy is up to college level in her studies with DotCom.
It turns out that in order for Lacy to save the universe; she must raise the prestige of Earth by becoming the greatest shopper of all time and negotiate the best deals for her services and those of her family on the planet Shptiludrp.
Eggleton has crafted a novel that deals with social commentary mixed with some eerie science fiction and a strange problem that Lacy has to solve to save the universe with the help of her family and her dog, Brownie. I can almost hear a blue grass version of Metallica while reading this. I expect to see more from Eggleton and Lacy Dawn. Good satire is hard to find and science fiction satire is even harder to find.
I enjoy my work, even though it's very stressful (I cry sometimes about the tragedies, but, of course not in front of the kids.). I enjoy writing, even though the last story ("Daddy" will be in the next, The Angry Poet) mostly made me angry. I like to do lots of other stuff, but have gotten kind of compulsive about the prevention of child abuse, almost as if I believe I'm mortal. Next summer, I'm going to the beach no matter what, but I may take my laptop.
Hi all, I am truly sorry but I need to leave the group. I am on total group overload and am downsizing drastically. I do treasure all of your friendships and do hope you understand. Hugs, Karenlee
