Evolution January 26, 2005 3:01 PM

Did we evolve from Apes? Did we originate from the sea? Or are we all descendants of Adam and Eve? I have my own theory on evolution... I believe in God, therefore believe we are descendants of Adam and Eve, BUT... I also believe in evolution. Why couldn't a species evolve from apes? & another species evolve from a little protoplasmic mass from sea? Everything evolves over time, and it seems logical, to me, that all theories could have their own truth to them. What are your views on this subject?

anonymous Hmmmm January 27, 2005 8:40 AM

I think we all resulted from the Big Bang!   I mean, when you consider how idiotic we are, at times, you HAVE to wonder if we're all just mutants from some cosmic explosion or other...

OMG!!  AND WE'RE BREEDING!!!

I saw a tv show January 27, 2005 10:58 AM

That suggested we were 'gentically' engineered from apes by adding 'alien' dna because the aliens needed 'smart workers'

What work ---- supposedly helping them repair thier ships and gather 'resources' from the planet that thye needed?

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction...

The idea that humans are some sort of 'science expirement' of another race is one of those things that just seems to keep evolving and getting more elaboarte with each passing decade. Maybe one day we will actually be able to prove or disprove the hypothisis.

anonymous Falcon & Pisces January 27, 2005 12:39 PM

Falcon: To answer your query about whether or not we're evolved from alien DNA implanted into apes,  we are.  In fact, I'll also venture an idea, solely based on what I've witnessed of the human race:  I think we ARE evolved from aliens.  Oh, !!  I mean, just think about it a sec: How many other species are there that work themselves to the bone for someone or something other than themselves?  Oh, and let's not forget the strange and often irrational thought processes of our supposed leaders: They get mad at other leaders, and they start a war.  And all because of a little disagreement between them about who had what, and who wanted to have it, too...Drones, Falcon.  We're all just drones....

Pisces: Oh, !!! I mean, we're so scatterbrained about stuff that it's a "wonder"(AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA! THINK ABOUT THAT FOR A SEC, PISCES!) we don't all blow ourselves up trying to get HOME!

I must be getting old January 27, 2005 12:52 PM

Chariots of the Gods, it was a book in the seventies...... It started quite a ruccucous that was when I firs tstarting hearing people talk about us humans being an science experiment.... perhaps we were even designed as an alternative food source for another race of beings..... I saw many shows talking about such things in the late 70 and early 80's  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

too much January 28, 2005 10:20 AM

Evolution and scientific theories are too much for my primitive brain to handle.  Believing in God is just a lot simpler for  me.  (Too much science takes all the "magic" out of life--at least for me)  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Something else to ponder January 28, 2005 10:49 PM

I'm neither one way or the other on this subject, because I have yet to see scientific proof of either theory.

Having said that, I need some clarification on this.  If one believes in the theory of creation, then one knows how man developed.

However,  and this is where I need clarification, if one believes in the theory of evolution and in fact man did evolve from apes, well WHERE DID THE APES COME FROM?  How did they get on Planet Earth?

anonymous Shari January 28, 2005 11:06 PM

I'm tellin' ya, it was the Big Bang that put everything here!   Really, we're all just cosmic particles from the Big Bang, and we've all evolved into the various creatures currently living on this planet.  When the Universe gets itself sorted out again, we'll all return to our original forms, and then we'll be the points of light we were before the Big Bang  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

Welcome Shari! January 28, 2005 11:57 PM

Good question Shari! & Welcome to the group

My guess is that the apes evolved from something as well. But whats the real explanation? I really dont know.

I like Holly's theory Scientists do attribute the Big Bang as how it all started, dont they?

My question is this... Can we believe that Creationism AND the Big Bang both played a part in the start of life on earth?

confusing January 29, 2005 12:21 AM

That question did sound a little strange  I never really thought of the big bang as contributing to the creation of mankind, but it is a theory, right?

I just wonder if it is plausible to suggest that God made humans, then another "breed", or "race" of humans evolved from apes, and/or the protoplasmic mass?

I know... Im out there, right?

Wolfsinger (Holly), I love your picturesque description as to how we evolved.  Because that's exactly how I pictured humans as evolving.

anonymous A little bit longer answer might be... March 04, 2005 10:00 AM

We all gotta start from some place, and simple, single-celled organisms seems as good a place to start as any.  Of course, that would mean that the next time someone referred to me as a "microbiological blip on the radar of life," I'd have to remind them that they came from that same "ship of seamen" (AAAAAHAHAHAHAHA! GOOD ONE! ) as I did, and therefore, they should not insult themselves so.

Concerning Concerning Evolution and Genetics May 22, 2005 2:50 PM

No one has comented on my post, "Concerning Evolution and Genetics".

I wonder why. Plainly, the gist is that evolution is impossible.Darwin lived in the 19th century; he made assumptions based on circumstantual evidence. However, now we have genetics; the instructions in each living cell for their construction or reproduction is just so complex, that the only conclusion that should be drawn is this: LIFE IS NOT AN ACCIDENT. I invite rebutal, in this thread and mine.

interesting topic May 22, 2005 5:10 PM

Evolution or creation? Who really knows, but if you look at the basic bible story, and don't take the seven days literally, you can easily have both.  Or not.  I've been told many times I'm not really from Earth, and sometimes I really wonder.  Back to the topic, if you look at the creation story over the course of time, instead of over seven days, it fits a lot better, and in the end, does it really matter?  As long as we are moving forward in this world, I think we're doing ok.  I guess I'm just more concerned with where I'm going than where I came from, and yet I still enjoy the evolution vs creation debate, as I learn new things each time around.  Peace to all, Carmen.

I believe in a creation theory of sorts but not the biblical one. I don't believe in adam and eve. I also do not believe humans are descended from apes. I find it interesting that they mimic us but I don't believe that we're connected.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

O.k... I'll bite on this topic LOl I personaly believe that we are way too complex for the big bang theory. Explosions normaly destroy any way not create! If you ever study anatomy we are very amazing creatures!! Very, very complex!! It boggles the mind! And I have never been one to worry too much about how I got here... I'm more concerned with where I'm going LOL I am a firm believer that we are always evolving... Just look at the last 20 to 30yrs. I believe in reincarnation... I do not believe in hell and I believe that are lives have purpose and that we continue to learn and grow from our experiances and choices! Bright Blessings, Barbie  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

anonymous Heya, Barbie. :) June 26, 2005 11:43 PM

Actually, I was joking about humans being the result of the Big Bang, but now I've had some time to think about it, and, well, there's just so much about the universe that we don't know! Is it remotely possible to consider that the Big Bang was the equivalent of a cosmic ejaculation, and the results of that were human beings, which began life as single celled organisms?  You know what I mean?  Like when a woman gets pregnant - how that baby starts out as a blip, and then develops into a brand new human being?

From the Big Bang to this very moment, perhaps evolution has been and continues to be the Creators' greatest tool.

West Australian Fossil Find Rewrites Land Mammal Evolution

The well-preserved Gogonasus fish skeleton emerges from the rock it was found in. Image: John Broomfield/Museum Victoria.by Staff Writers
Melbourne, Australia (SPX) Oct 20, 2006
A fossil fish discovered in the West Australian Kimberley has been identified as the missing clue in vertebrate evolution, rewriting a century-old theory on how the first land animals evolved.

Monash University PhD students Mr Erich Fitzgerald and Mr Tim Holland were part of the research team, led by Museum Victoria's Head of Science Dr John Long, that made the spectacular discovery by studying a 380 million-year-old fossil fish called Gogonasus, or Gogo fish, named after Gogo Station in Western Australia where it was found.

The fossil skeleton shows the fish's skull had large holes for breathing through the top of the head but importantly also had muscular front fins with a well-formed humerus, ulna and radius - the same bones are found in the human arm.

"This new fossil proves that features of land-living tetrapods (four-legged vertebrates) evolved much earlier in their evolutionary history than previously thought," Mr Fitzgerald, a researcher in the School of Geosciences, said. "This means that humans can trace their evolutionary roots, and adaptations for life on land, further back in time, to more than 380 million years ago.

"This little fossil fish, Gogonasus, is therefore the ultimate 'Mother' of all tetrapods."

The research findings are published today in the journal Nature.

"Gogonasus is the new pivotal fossil for understanding the earliest phase in the transition from sea-going fish to land-dwelling tetrapods -- from dinosaurs, to kangaroos, and ultimately, us humans," Mr Fitzgerald said.

"The fossils of Gogonasus raise the possibility that tetrapods originated not in the northern hemisphere, as is widely thought, but in Gondwana, the ancient southern super-continent, and more specifically Australia. But further discoveries of fossils in Australia are needed to confirm this."

This is an interesting question. October 22, 2006 11:30 AM

Also so varied in responses.

I believe in both. Creation and evolution.  In some Biblical circles, it is believed that there Was another "earth" God created before the one with Adam and Eve.  It was destroyed when Lucifer the Beautiful, the Light decided He was better than God...LOL!  Thus the War in Heaven and then the whole of the Earth destroyed.  Then God began again, with Adam and Lilith...but Lilith also thought she was better than Adam and was sent away, and Eve was created.  A more pliant version of Lilith.  So it goes....Of course, we Must remember, that that Bible was Written by MEN, Inspired by God, but still written with the limited amount of Understanding that Men have.  Imagine if a Woman wrote the Bible...How different things might be...LOl!

Anys...My belief is that there was a bunch of "Spirits" that came to this planet, Made it all, didn't like certain things, sent things to destroy it...played around a bit, made new things, destroyed them, then left....leaving a Spirits or two behind...(The Earth, God as in Christian) and many other names that the Spirits Go by.  Now, though the Spirits are returning to see what their creations have done to their playground....They I believe are not happy....LOL!
