Lennox May Have Chance With the East Galway Animal Rescue Group!
| VALLEE'S PETITIONS/NEWS

Dear Friends:

When one door closes another door opens.

Patrizia, one of the members of my groups, forwarded the story of  a dog in Northern Ireland which underwent the same hostility and canine stereo-typing that poor Lennox is experiencing right now. According to the story, dog "Bruce" in Northern Ireland was held hostage by the "bully breed ban" for years until a rescue group specializing in "bully breeds" called the East Galway Animal Rescue (EGAR) offered Bruce sanctuary. Today, Bruce is FREE!

Here is the link to the story:

Bruce lived in Northern Ireland where the DDA is the law of the land. Early on, a Southern Ireland rescue group specializing in bully breeds -- East Galway Animal Rescue (EGAR) -- had offered Bruce sanctuary. Not surprisingly, the judicial system moves as slowly in Ireland as it does in the United States. Despite a worldwide outpouring of attention and call to action last year, it wasn't until now that Bruce was granted his freedom.

I believe that the East Galway Animal Rescue (EGAR), a privately run animal rescue group in Southern Ireland specializing in rescuing "bully breeds" that are banned in that country, may be a ray of hope for Lennox, the American Boxer Cross currently being held hostage on death row in Belfast due to his resemblance to a Pit Bull.

I urge each and every one of you to join me in sending a brief note to East Galway Animal Rescue urging them to contact the owners of dog Lennox and offer to rescue him and keep him at their sanctuary. Here is their link:

Together, we can help make a difference in the life of dog Lennox, whose family has only two weeks to appeal his death sentence, which was decided yesterday.

Please help save Lennox! Thank you, Michelle >^..^<

Dear All, I'm so disappointed! This is the reply I got from Sarah of East Galway Animal Rescue. Please, read. I'm speachless!!!

Hello,

thank you for your email. I have offered from the beginning to take
Lennox and all I got back from the owners was threats, abuse and
slander, both privately as well as on the internet.

My offer to help Lennox still stands but the owners have not been in
touch, so there is nothing I can do.

All the best,

wow...why dont the owners want their dog to live?

Wow, there goes my idea  I asked Best Friends to get involved.  This is just stupid, I watched Stu grow old and sick at the LA kill shelter for barely biting somebody. Jeff La Rosa would have jumped at this chance.  Stu was finally taken in my a group like this only after years of fighting the LA idiots in charge of animal control.  Very disappointed the family likes all this attention instead of saving Lennox.  I'll pass this on. Thank you so much

EGAR: A RAY OF HOPE FOR LENNOX

Dear Friends:

Below is my response from EGAR regarding Lennox.

I am absolutely speechless. I don't know what to think.

How can this family honestly account for the amount of time this dog has been rotting in that cell, the subsequent global outpouring of love and support for this animal, receive his official death sentence from the judge, and not act upon it? How can this so-called family account for turning down help from a sanctuary that will be able to save this dog's life? I'm confused. I'm frustrated. And I'm angry.

Please friends, tell me:  do you think a petition urging the family to relinquish the dog to EGAR help put pressure on them? Do you think it might just make a dent in all of this insanity? Please inform. I'm dedicated to this dog, and don't want to wave the white flag just yet.

Michelle

If the dog was taken from the owners, isn't there a very small margin of time once the owners present an appeal and given the case it is not accepted, to present a petition of rescue from an institution or from someone out of prohibited area? To take the dog out of there by rescuing under a "compassion" petition? Can''t rescues come with these offers now? as a second option? A lawyer expert in animal cases litigation is more than necessary for, in a given time, or now better, present a "CEASE AND DESIST" / INJUCTION petition in favor of Lennox PER SE - (to stop process and have time to present material in favor of the dog.). Proof of breed/mix breed exterminating Lennox is not what he should not be, could be live saving .A mother or father, or both other breed than Pitbull can show he is not a pitbull. DNA test can determine breed / breed mixes. All proof and tests should be presented BY A LAWYER. - ONLY A LAWYER CAN ASK/PRESENT A PETITION FOR A CEASE AND DESIST. Other good test could be that of nature of dog, character, behaviour. Of course, A LAWYER CAN ASK FOR INDEPENDENT EXPERTS EXAMINATION.(non shelters or shelters related ) IN FACT, IT WOULD BE A GREAT STEP TOWARDS SALVATION OF LENNOX. IF SOMEONE CAN HELP,PLEASE, THIS IS THE TIME. Among others, IFAW should be consulted. There is also ASPCA INTERNATIONAL (and local) and HUMANE SOCIETY INTERNATIONAL (and local) among others.

Please see if an institution or person other than owner can bring legal representation (a lawyer)for the dog!!

This all thing is so very disappointing. We all can try to send e-mails and letters to lennox's owner. I hope they will come to their senses and do the right thing.

EGAR: A RAY OF HOPE FOR LENNOX

Dear Myraida:

Below is the response I received from the East Galway Animal Rescue (EGAR), a group that specializes in "bully breeds" that are singled out in certain countries for their alleged "dangerous" qualities. According to the message, the family met all attempts from EGAR to provide the dog a sanctuary with hostility. Don't ask me why. If it was our dog, he likely would have been out of that cell and into the arms of a rescue in a heartbeat. Clearly, this family wants total control of the situation, if it is to the detriment....and perhaps even the death....of their "beloved" dog Lennox.

To contact the family, you can go to the official Lennox web site at

www.savelennox.co.uk

You must apply as a member, leave some cursory information, and then wait for the administrator to okay your membership. When you visit the site, it's quite impressive, and boasts a lot of support from both local defenders and individuals world wide. The video they made of the Lennox story is extremely impressive, and quite compelling. According to my friend Kendra, who has been following this story from the beginning, the family has largely ignored suggestions to release the dog to a sanctuary or another owner outside of the breed-banned area. I suggested in my personal letter to all of the authorities involved that a breed behavior analysis like the one you mentioned above be initiated prior to action so that the dog's breed and temperament are ascertained. I'm sure others have suggested the same.

As for contacting welfare organizations, I contacted:  PETA UK, PETA International, WSPA, IFAW UK/USA, SPCAI, and ADI UK/USA. I heard from WSPA; they wished me "good luck." I have not heard from the other organizations as of yet.

Thank you for your input. It all makes sense, and if it were my dog, there would be no question. I would leave no stone unturned, especially after seeing photos of my beloved dog sitting in a dark, filthy cell surrounded by his own feces. But something is going on with this family.....they are not reacting the way we would all expect a pet owner under these circumstances to act. It is strange, and also, very heartbreaking and frustrating.

There is the possibility of initiating a CARE2 petition urging the family to release the dog to EGAR, but who knows if that would make an impression on these people?

I will certainly keep you all updated if I hear of anything new. Thank you!

For Lennox, Michelle >^..^<
