Hello Rajan! May 19, 2004 1:45 AM

Thank You so much for opening this interesting forum. I would be very curious to hear more about your theories regarding destiny. Are we all part of a big plan and (if we are) can a pattern be seen so that one or more persons would be able to get a glimpse of the "blueprint" so to speak? Thank You for your friendship! /Camilla.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Camilla, We seem to be a part of a Plan! Whether there is a 'Pattern' or a 'Blue Print', it's hard to say! ABSOLUTE TRUTH is indeterminate!, atleast by us. If we possess that ability to see 'Absolute Truth', we shall be able to see the Creator/God. Consider a talented Artist/Painter, who is painting a picture of humans, animals and other creatures, in various shapes, sizes, colours on a wide Canvas before him! After he has finished his masterpiece, the figures on his Canvas, begin to ask him, why he has made one short and the other figure taller, why has he painted them all in different shades of colour! The animal on the Canvas might ask, why wasn't he made a human being instead! The ANSWER here is that none of the figures or the created objects will know the 'Mind' or the 'Talent' of the Artist! The 'created' object will never know the 'Will' of the Creator! By Destiny, I would mean, we do not have a choice of our birth, of our limited talents, of our mortal existance! We have a limited length of life or age, not decided by us! The theory of KARMA has other explanations, such as, we bear the fruits of our earlier actions, carried forward from our actions/deeds in our previous life or birth. It is a very difficult question to answer, but an interesting one to ponder on!  [ send green star]

Hmm... May 27, 2004 8:45 AM

What if that Creator decided to allow the created things to have understanding? Doesn't the Creator have the ability to make the created things have the capcity to understand the Mind or Will of the Creator? Ultimately, the qustion this leads to is 'Why was the painting/creation made in the first place? For what reason?' If the answer is companionship and delight of the Creator, then maybe the Creator would not be disconnected from the things created but would care to be intimately involved. Afterall, children come from parts of the parent (created in a sense) and parents love thier children. Though good parents allow kids to make decisions and some times mistakes, they still care and hope for the children to make the best of life. Destiny implies a plan. If this Creator has a plan for the created, I feel that shows care and thoughtfulness toward the created.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

what about the basic life's issues.. good, evil, positive, negative, passive, active, ect... . surely these things do not balance each other. i do believe in existentalism.. there is a higher force, guidance if you will.. more input from all.. this is very interesting.. please continue  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Additional facts and inference June 03, 2004 8:28 AM

Dear Ron, Joei, Happy to see your posts! There are additional facts, which we must introduce now, to understand and relate to the 'picture' or implied 'Plan'. HE (Creator) has included 'pairs of opposites' in the Plan. The pairs of opposites such as, happiness and suffering, pain and pleasure, beautiful and ugly, big and small, strong and weak, victory and defeat, birth and death (mortal existence).... These qualities, negative and positive create the ILLUSION in us, keeping us away from ABSOLUTE TRUTH! If we are allowed or permitted to view ABSOLUTE TRUTH by Him, the pairs of opposites will disappear totally, so that you will not exist, as you are now! He does not seem to wish that!  [ send green star]

it would seem.. that humans need illusions.. if one can see beyond ugly and beautiful.. why not so easily see the problem in the negatives..can individuals accept a normal state of consciousness.. mind is the observer it calculates it recieves it forms ideas and changes it all to fit ones .. perception of life.. one's mind doesn't even retain it's own identity.. most change from thought to thought.. whats best at the moment.. it seems to me to be that way..  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Dear Camilla, Ron and Electric O. March 18, 2005 1:39 AM

Camilla E., a very worthy participant of this Group did put up a question quite some time back. I attempted to answer her excellent question as best as I could, then.

I find the question of great value, as well as a very thought provoking question, which we would attempt once again, to answer more satisfactorily. I am positive that many of the present participants do have the knowledge and experience to present an answer.

Would you please attempt to answer.

The Canvas March 18, 2005 1:53 PM

Hi all,
If I may join this thread, I would just like to add this. Last week on the National Geographic channel they did a documentary following the growth of a baby from fertilization to birth. It was a truly fascinating show as most of it was filmed in the womb. One of the statements that was made was that at the point where the DNA from the sperm and the DNA from the egg meet and 'fuse' into a new DNA (a new human or whatever is being created), that everything that we are to become is in that new DNA. Our predisposition to sickness, disease, musical talent, intelligence, eye color, straight or curly hair, etc. Perhaps it was the way they presented it, but I was quite moved. It got me to thinking that perhaps that is, in part, our blueprint and our free will then shapes what we do with it. As Rajan was saying earlier we are given 'pairs of opposites' which, to me, interprets as we make choices throughout our lives. Sometimes they are good choices, sometimes not. But they all make up that canvas that we are painting called...us.
  Love and Blessings,  Rosie

Dear Rosie U., and Angela B March 19, 2005 2:56 AM

Dear Rosie,

Your reply is truly rewarding to this Group.

Thank you for your brilliant answer! And also for updating us with bio-technical information, alongwith your answer. In other words, Nature plays a substantial part in shaping individual Destiny. Can we state, or say

'Destiny is governed by the Divine Will, and Act of Nature, or could one say, 'Will of God, implied through Nature working and expressing itself.'

Human 'freedom' would then be in cultivating right understanding through learning, and making right choices, depending on moral training, in sight of Wisdom, which is always present, and also being in the company of right friends. The primary reality/truth of being lies within each one of us.

Dear Angela,

We welcome you here, in this Group. We are confident that your participation will benefit us substantially.

Dear Rosie March 21, 2005 7:15 AM

In this thread, Absolute seems to apply. However, only you would be able to advise. To elaborate this,

Absolute is the all-inclusive. The Absolute is described as 'full both of light and not-light', of both the beautiful and ugly, of good and bad, of both the near and the far off, the this and that. Both Negative and positive characterisations are given to affirm the positivity of being.

Hi Rajan May 09, 2005 10:34 AM

thank you for inviting me to this interesting group, that I hope I to visit as often as I can.

We would not know what is good without the bad, or the light if there was no darkness, we are given the choice to make our own decisions, but DESTINY has already chose for us?

If I decide to take a right turn, and I'm hit by a car and die, could I have changed my destiny if I had turned left? or my destiny was that I would choose to turn right? Then how come that I'm free to choose?

What about the theory that we "choose" to be born in a certain family, country etc. and have a type of life that will give us the opportunity to "grow and learn?" Is that part of our destiny?

blessings to all, Ruth

Dear Ruth May 12, 2005 6:59 AM

Thank you for being here, and participating. This Group grows in wealth with your participation, and you do have a very keen mind, as well as Wisdom.

Your example of the car 'hit' depending on the direction one turns, is interesting. I would only add

Often, our actions are reactions to our senses or are 'reflexes', and involuntary. Consciously, we do not put thought to every action in our daily lives, for that would seem to be too tiring or cumbursome. We only seem to put thought to exercise our choice when making certain decisions, depending on how important they are to the individual. What seems important to one individual may be judged un-important by another. Small acts of kindness may be important to one individual, but unimportant to another. Then, there is also the fact that we are constantly in a 'rush' to do things. We need to slow down a bit, I think. Quick actions are generally devoid of thought and therefore not making a choice, such as turning 'left' or 'right'. Accidents are often the result of 'thoughtlessness'. In the larger context, the resultant or Destiny does become the 'picture'. 'Not exercising one's mind to make a choice' is a choice itself, I think.

Dear Ruth May 12, 2005 7:50 AM

I am adding the following, as reply, to your second question, about 'choice' of birth, family, I quote from the Upanisads

"Having attained to the world of the righteous and dwelt there for many years, the man who has fallen away from yoga is again born in the house of such as are pure and prosperous.

Or he may be born in the family of yogins (those with higher Spiritual Consciousness) who are endowed with wisdom. For such a birth as this is more difficult to obtain in the world.

There he regains the (mental) impressions (of union with the Divine) which he had developed in his previous life and with this (as the starting point) he strives again for perfection, O Joy of the Kurus (Arjuna)."

Progress on the path to perfection is very slow, and one would have to tread through many lives. The qualities we acquire/cultivate during our present life do not perish at death. They become the starting points for later development. No man of honest life can ever come to grief. In our present life, we must not despair for even failure here, is success, and no sincere effort goes without its reward.

Thank you for being here. I do know that you are wonderful and worthy friends.

True friends such as all those in this thread and other threads do contribute to individual Destiny. Friends who share their knowledge and Wisdom are, without a doubt, an important factor! We are what we think, and consquently, we act in accordance to our thoughts.
