Here is a petition to end the use of styrofoam cups in DMB Clubs:
Signed petition to end the use of styrofoam cups.
wonderful idea, signed...amazing how difficult it is to get people to make simple changes like this, but have run into resistance at work and elsewhere when I volunteered to bring in non-styrofoam cups....did it and found them unused while styrofoam goes on and on....also bought several people reusable cups and they go on using styrofoam....
Thank you to everyone signing. Thank you Dave for what you are doing - it sounds very good. They have stopped the styrofoam cup supply at the local library here recently, which is good news. Perhaps your work can do the same thing. People might use whatever is easiest - if the styrofoam is no longer there they may well be happy to use the reusable cups.
Here is a petition to the Toronto mayor to retain a 5c charge on plastic bags there:
I know what you mean Dave. I worked for the City of boston in a community center and the amount of trash and lack of recycling was appalling. They thought nothing of using lots of plastic, paper, and styrofoam and tossing it. I did my best to recycle in my classroom but it was really stressful seeing so much waste. Plastic bags and styrofoam are things that we only remember as in the past.
Many thanks Kate, and everyone for posting. Keep sending in petitions and signing!
