New gun restrictions will not prevent tragedies like the Connecticut school shooting
The tragic mass shooting of 20 children & 6 adults, has brought out the inevitable calls from around the country to make laws restricting gun ownership. Many Europeans & Australians decry Americas violence and say we must restrict guns. But America is not a tiny country, just one state, California, has a population bigger and more diverse than most of of these small countries. Australia has less population than the state of Texas.

A gunman in Newtown, Connecticut shot his mother, then went to a school where it is believed she was once a teacher, and killed twenty young children, and six adults. My God, the evil that exists in this world is staggering. My prayers go out to those parents who will be closing the doors of their children’s bedrooms forever, putting away the car seats that the child will never sit in again, and grieve for the loss of their child – a horrible process most of us will never understand, or have to go through. Innocent children slaughtered by a madman. Reports of his mental health does not get him off the hook.
Newtown: Gun free zones invite mad mass-murderers, say law officers
In the aftermath of the horrifying mass-murder at an American kindergarten, on Saturday the nation’s news organizations were scouring the country for law enforcement officials who advocate tougher gun laws such as “gun free zones” that seem to be popping up throughout the U.S. But most newsrooms during the weekend ignored an inconvenient truth: Gun free zones have seen increases in violence.
Americans would have trouble digesting this, but can MAYBE understand.....
Drunk Drivers cause hundreds of deaths DAILY..... should we take CARS away?
How about Doctors..... Doctors MISTAKE cause more deaths on a daily basis that guns cause in a month, shall we take DOCTORS away?
that anyone (ie our government especially) would use a tragedy like this to further their own selfish agenda, one must read the 2nd amendment to understand WHY the Gov. wants gun control. It is EQUALLY disgusting how many Americans are to DOFF to realize this.
I can't tell you how much I agree with that! I have gone into other sites where people come up with these stupid - some I've seen go like this - "There is no earthly reason for anyone to own an assault rifle, except for the military or the police." -ignorant statements.
Or-"Why would anyone want to own a semi-automatic or assault gun unless it's to do another harm?" - But they think the police are the only ones who should have them.
It amazes me that anti-gun people think in the moment of what a lovely utopia world they think they would have if noone had guns. They'd better get rid of nearly everything they can look upon then, because weapons can be made out of many things, but somehow anti gunners don't think criminals will think that far ahead if they just - don't have guns. For danged straight these criminals are far more intelligent than these anti gun people!
For sure, you read things like people saying "That's the last thing we need, more armed citizens, more violence!"
Those ones are certainly too dense to put two and two together.
Look, the same in Japan I believe a man with a knife killed and injured hos many? People that are evil and derranged will find a way to do it anyway, with a bomb, knife, bow and arrow, whatever they can get their hands on...Statitics prove that doctors killed more people in hospitals yearly than this happening....
Let's not forget all the children the drones are killing in Afghanistan, etc. Are we weeping for them and their parents? double standard? God loves them the same, their parents love them the same!!!
hEY, HEY, HEY, thanks for accepting my invitation Ray, great to see you posting love you....
What we do need is a more armed citizenry-NOT a gov't. and their band of merry thugs, gangs, Panthers, terrorists, armed only!-this gov't ought to wake up the dense to that fact, if anything, but it won't, because the mass murders aren't even enough to make them get it!!!
I'm not sure who it was, but I turned on the radio in my truck yesterday, and the question being asked of a liberal (he didn't believe in citizens being armed) was, what would they do if an armed criminal broke in their house with his wife and kids there. He asked, "What would I do?" He then went on to say he would run for the telephone and call 911. I couldn't believe this guy was actually saying that on public radio. I wanted to be able to reach through, stick him in a corner, put a dunce cap on his head, and tell him he couldn't go out for recess today.
But then, you gotta figure what good what that do, because that kind of not too swift thinking, is already out to recess, and they done had lunch at the Communist Manifesto.
I can't remember where I posted this yesterday but this looks like a good thread to have it on also.
The country with the least number of gun related homicides is Switzerland. WHY? Because their government issues a weapon to every house and teaches them how to use it. That should tell us something but the powers that be aren't listening.
Although there is more per capita firepower in Switzerland than any place in the world, it is one of the safest places to be. To the delight of Americans who support the right to keep and bear arms, Switzerland is the proof in the pudding of the argument that guns don't cause crime.
According to the UN International Study on Firearm Regulation, in 1994 the homicide rate in England (including Wales) was 1.4 (9% involving firearms), and the robbery rate 116, per 100,000 population. In the United States, the homicide rate was almost 9.0 (70% involving firearms), and the robbery rate 234, per 100,000. England has strict gun control laws, ergo, the argument goes, the homicide rate is far lower than in the United States. However, such comparisons can be dangerous: in 1900, when England had no gun controls, the homicide rate was only 1.0 per 100,000.
Moreover, using data through 1996, the U.S. Department of Justice study Crime and Justice concluded that in England the robbery rate was 1.4 times higher, the assault rate was 2.3 higher, and the burglary rate was 1.7 times higher than in the United States. Only the murder and rape rates in the United States were higher than in England.

Yes, you posted in here in another thread about this, I am glad you re-posted it again in this one, it confirms the point we are trying to make thanks Jeannette!
Uhmm. If this posts twice, ends up showing up, I apologize, but I just hit post reply, and POOF! -it's not showing up, so am reposting.
Right on Jeanette. People need to see these statistics over and over in hopes it will eventually drill a ray of light into some. We've seen this before too, about Kennesaw, but is good reaffirmation also.
Yes, they should be armed!
Another thing, why don't the schools have metal detectors, like so many of the schools? Right before you enter the front doors and a policeman outside?
They should, with a policeman outside. And the staff and teachers should still be armed. If the officer were to get shot outside, then the staff and teachers are still equipped to stop the SOB set to come in.
Thanks Rhonda dor posting this....
The Numbers Don’t Lie: Banning Guns Means More Crime
Dec 18, 2012 01:08 pm
As threatened as the Second Amendment looks right now, in the end, new attacks on our freedom to own guns will fail. The numbers will once again prove that the Left’s arguments are built on lies and distortions. In the coming weeks, disingenuous liberals will try to use the tragic murders of 20 children and 6 [...]

Rearm, Not Disarm

Socialists convince many able Americans that government should monopolize use of force, even where law recognizes our natural right of self-defense. Incrementally, they’ve limited corporal punishment, demonizing gun advocacy; and every generation plots to disarm law-abiding citizens at the expense of truly public safety. Ironically, liberal elected officials, including this president, have legions of armed [...]

Gun Control Zealots’ Invincible Ignorance
Dec 18, 2012 11:54 am
Must every tragic mass shooting bring out the shrill ignorance of “gun control” advocates? The key fallacy of so-called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law-abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available. If gun control zealots had any respect for facts, [...]
