I have read a few things that argue that the Sphinx was originally a Jackyl/Dog in reference to either Anubis or Set (I can't recall). They said it was the hind quarters that give it away, the tail in particular which tapers to a point (like a Jackyl) rather than ending in a bush of hair (like a lion).
I love that idea of the Giza complex relating the Taurus. If the dates for construction are right that should put them in the smack in the middle of the precessional age of Taurus.
Yeah, but I don't think anybody knows the answer for sure.
There could be different variations. Well one of them - the Bull of Heaven, perhaps related to the constelation of Taurus. As far as I know Taurus is right next to the Orion and if the theories of pyramids having to do with Orion constelation are True - then WHY NOT the TAURUS - it very close! Although looking at this 19th century picture - I would easier see the lion's head. It already has the body of the lion, let's be consistent, you know.
Perhaps there is a second SPHINX that has not beeen discovered. We would have a perfect pair.
! I heard a hypothesis stating that the Great Sphinx's head was at one time actually the head of a sacred Bull's. Surely it was not always the Pharoh's.
