Jennifer, praise God for leading you in the right direction to get Paddy saved (fire department), and for calming your fears.   I can relate to everything you wrote so perfectly....I know each fear and thought you had.   Paddy and Tiger are so blessed to have a caring owner like you....and you, too, are blessed with (2) wonderful and elderly furry companions.  Thank you for sharing your story.....it is filled with praise, love and compassion.

Ildi, thank you for reminding us of the story of Noah and his saving of the animals per God's instruction.    I am an animal lover and they touch my heart on so many levels.   I thank God daily on sharing them with us and allowing us to protect them from those that may mean them harm.

my prayer November 07, 2009 4:26 AM

dear friends in christ our lord and saviour. i pray for all of our pet companions to god our heavenly father that they will live happy healthy and loving lives with us. one of my favourite stories in the bible is that of 'noah's ark', how god told him to take into the ark all of the animals two by two to save them from the flood and noah obeyed and he, his family and the animals were saved. i pray for all of the endangered species of animals especially because once they're gone, our future generations can not enjoy these amazing creatures created by god out of his goodness. god bless. peace and love from ildi p.

My most terrifying night November 07, 2009 2:27 AM

Last night, my 17 year old cat Paddy, was a bit scared of the drilling that was going on in the livingroom, due to home decorating, and went upstairs as he usually does. I kept calling for him to come down for his dinner, but he stayed up there until my fiance, Barry, brought him down. He ate some of his food but then stopped and went to the kitchen door. I let him out, knowing that even though he's "elderly", he can carry his own out there, though I keep the door open in case he has to make a mad dash into the house!

A few moments past and as I was making our own dinner I wanted to sit down and eat and close the door that was blasting us with cold, so I started to call him. I went outside and could not see him anywhere. Our backyard is walled and fenced and Paddy cannot jump up on high fences anymore, so I knew he could not leave our property. The garage was open so I thought he must be in there. Then I heard a sound that Paddy normally makes when confronted by the neighborhood stray. So thinking he was in the garage with the stray I said my normal "Oi!", that usually stops any punch ups that may occur. But I didn't see any cats running out and that was odd. I had to go get the flashlight and investigate further. I scanned the garage and not a cat in sight! Feeling a bit of that motherly fear, I did not care that I was only out in slippers that were getting soaked thanks to the day's rain earlier. Barry went back in the house to see if Paddy may have slipped back in.

Then I heard the sound again, but not so loud as before. It felt like it came from over the fence, next to the garage, but how on earth could he have got over there since he can't jump high. I had the flashlight on the fence when I heard him yet again and quickly flashed the light towards the sound. He was caught in between our garage and the neighbor's wall, both made of brick! There was only a 3 inch opening from my end, though the other side where he entered was possibly 4 to 4 1/2. At that moment, my heart broke. I don't have any human children, but God has blessed me with two blessings wrapped in these furry packages and I immediately went into a panic as if they were my children.

I screamed for Barry and could only speak jumbled words. "Paddy! He's stuck!...the wall and garage!" I finally got out. Barry told me to call the RSPCA (ASPCA). At that point, my mind shut down. I kept thinking, I don't know their number. Phonebook. Where's the phone! And I could not get my fingers to work.I called on Jesus for strength as I fumbled through the pages. Crying hysterically.

I couldn't find the number right way, so I ran upstairs to get online. I started dialling. After screaming at the phone to stop with all the automated malarky, I finally reached someone. She really did not relieve me at all. She said she'll send this out to an officer to see what the proper course of action is. Course of action?!?! I did not convey my thoughts to her, however. I stood out front of my house waiting for what seemed eternity. I called them again. They told me they didn't know how long it would take. Got off phone, waited a bit longer. This whole time I prayed like I never prayed before. I never felt such urgency and such heart break. I could hear Paddy and with each meow the urgency grew deeper. God started to calm me, but I fought it! How can I pray for something and then start to get it and reject it! Then it occured to me to call the Vet. They suggested the Fire Department. Of course! Cat in the tree...yes yes! I called them. The man I spoke to was wonderful. After finding out details, one of which was the fact that Paddy had now been like that for a half hour (eternity, once again), he assured me that he was going to be alright and they are on their way. Those words flowed through me and I felt such relief. So I waited. A few minutes later I saw the fire truck. I flagged them like an airplane controller on the runway, well perhaps a bit more wildly! heh. I apologised for this not being a fire and that it is just a cat (so much more this meant to me though!!). They assured me that it was not a problem. I started to cry again as I showed them where Paddy was. "We'll get him out, don't worry...you go inside"

Barry comforted me and told me to go inside. I did as I heard Paddy meowing more and more. I picked up Tiger, my 19 year tabby, and sat down on the couch. I prayed. I said so many things and thought so many things, it's impossible to write all of it down. But as I prayed and I held Tiger, Paddy walked acrossed the livingroom! I said, "Paddy?!?" I put Tiger down and went to get Paddy's food that he had not ate. I took it upstairs where he went and sat down with the dish. He came to it like a magnet to steel. My boy was safe and unharmed! Praise God!!! Apparently the firemen had started to take apart the garage wall from the inside and that was enough for Paddy. He  had backed himself out! Both the firemen and the RSPCA officer were astonished that Paddy did that. It's unusual for cats to back up, they normally keep trying to go forward, thus how he became stuck in the first place.

God be praised. My Paddy is laying next to me under the computer as I write this. God does hear the prayers of the righteous and helps them in times of distress. How good is our God!! Thank you so much Jesus!

How many little black and white dogs do you suppose get loose at any given time in our little town.  LOL  That's what I told myself when the police first called me.  What were the chances that TWO little black and white dogs got loose the same day in the same town!  I had called the police and the dog control people yesterday when he first got out. So they were on the lookout.

He does have his collar in the picture, but I took it off when he was bitten through the fence bars by the neighbor's dog and his neck swelled up so he had a couple double chins.  Last time I looked his neck was still swollen a bit so I left it off.  So of course, if he gets loose, it has to be NOW.

I'll tell him what you said, Sheila!  Notah called him a 'convict dog'!  LOL

Thank you all for your love for me and him. And for your prayers!

              001a.jpg
He's home, he's home, he's home!   The Lord is so good to me!  I was so afraid I'd not see him again.

He travelled a long way before he stopped.  Westerville is divided into 'neighborhood' divisions-kind of like cul-de-sacs but not closed--more like one road in and one road out but with several  side streets in between.  Anyway, Gabe was in the neighboring 'neighborhood' -Three Forks- a few blocks behind us and  beside us!

Someone had taken him in last evening from the cold and had brought him to the police this morning.  They called me about 830, while I was in the shower.  I didn't get the message until 9:30.  They were calling him a 'Jack Russell'  And they said his nose was black!! He only has a black strip down the center--the rest is all grizzled with gray!

Anyway, when they called me I told them  I had put his picture on the Pet FBI website.  They went there and looked and called me back to say it was him!  A Westervile police car brought him home!    Now he's an ex-con with a record!  LOL

The cop said that everybody at the station loved him and it is obvious--his tummy is bulging!  He probably had 'breakfast' at his rescuer's  house and then got treats at the police station all morning!  Now he is snuggled up beside me where he always lays.
Thank the Lord!

Vondi, I know how upset you are and I am still praying for Gable's safe return.   Be sure to call vet's offices cause many times people will turn a stray in.  If you have a local radio station then ask them to mention Gable throughout the day when they do the news and be sure to list your phone number.   If you have a picture of him you might make copies with your information and post it around.   I found my puppy that way.   Has anybody walked around knocking on doors? Please let us know as soon as you hear anything.

I am a little more coherent now.... although I'm still crying off and on...

The lawn people didn't get the gate latched securely and he went out!  Rachael noticed it just a couple minutes (she saw Maxim) after they went out.  Mica and Sebastian hadn't even realized the gate was open yet.  but we can't find him any where.  Gabe just seems to have disappeared.

Rach used Mica to track him, but she seemed to lose his trail after a block or so through back yards...At least by that I know he didn't go toward Sunbury Road.  That is the only busy road here close by where he could get hit.  All the rest are pokey neighborhood roads.

It is real cold here.  Pray that someone took him in.  It breaks my heart to think of him out in the damp and cold!   Rachael and also Debbie, the neighbor lady, (who has lived here a long time) said that people in this area are all nice dog people and would take a little lost-looking dog in-especially with the nasty weather.    They are sure someone felt sorry for him and took him in the house.

We put his bed with one of my dirty dresses in it outside last night incase he did wander back.  He would have a familar smell and could snuggle under my dress if he was cold.

So still I'm hoping and praying.

Remember last week the neighbor dog bit his neck?  I took his collar off when it was so swollen and when I checked a a couple days ago there was still some swelling so I hadn't put his collar back on yet.  So he didn't have a license tag or his ID tag!

Please keep praying.

I'm sorry.  I'm a little distracted and having trouble concentrating on other things.  If I don't get much posted you'll understand why.

Thank you everyone. Yes, they are my children, and itis hard to lose them, but I will be losing quite a few soon as they are very old seniors. They don't live forever. I have young ones too.

Holly is doing good for now, but in a month, like clock work she will have her attacks. I am careful not to spray anything near her or  get her triggered. It just happens withing the month. It looks like her heart is going to jump out when this happens. But, she is doing good now. Thank you all for your heart felt prayers.

Screamingbelle is an old Belle now, but she is still kicking. LIKE ME.   Geo baby is as old  or older than Belle, and Skipper is up there along with Rafael and Bahama Momma and the Grump is showing her age too. Kittens are easier. Although, some of these older ones let me medicate them, and I have a couple of hard heads outside that need medication and they run from me.

If anyone is here right now, I need some prayers said for Holly to make it until 4 today to get her shot for a feline asthma attack. This is a once a month thing, and she is not doing good righ tnow. I mght get there earlier. The vets are operating now, but there is air in the car, and in the office. Not here because the circuit breaker was getting hot. Jimmy said don't touch it.

One of my cats died early this morning. She was the miracle kitten from the woods up the road that I  trapped on my porch many years ago when the Lord brought her to me.  Her name was Mickie.

It is Holly who is having the attack now. She is already in the carrier and ready for the vets. I had to tell them their check for the last visit should get there today or tomorrow. It was put in the mail Saturday, but it might not have gone out until today. It took us a month to get that little bit together. I hope they don't quit giving us credit there.

 July 15, 2009 9:28 PM

Donna,

Call your local shelters in the area. They don't give cats much time. Someone could have seen her and trapped her. Also, look in sheds and other places like old cars that belong to people. Get a flash light and go out at night. Cats eyes will shine in the dark.

Look up trees with the flash light. Dogs chase cats up trees, and other cats might have also ran her up there. Keep food and water out, and go to your neighbors that you know are animal lovers, that could be putting food out.

I had a missing cat one time, and I put a have a heart trap on the porch near the door, and I caught her while I was trying to trap another one. I actually thought she was hiding under the house in the back yard, as we were having snow storms. I got a medium sized one. You don't leave it unattended. You check, and keep it close to the house with food in it, and if she is not in it, unlock it for the night.

As far as I know, Java is still alive, and Esty is waiting to see if Java can go back home with her. The Vet says she thinks Java has cancer, but if it is, it is contained. They are still holding Java att he vets. I don't care much for the vet, as she doesn't return calls when a person is worrying.

Esta doesn't want to have Java put to sleep if he can be saved.

Yes, Henry hopped right in.

Sorry to hear that about Java, and sorry for her "person" too. May you be comforting her during the hard days that come. It's a good oportunity to show love and empathy, and give an emotional "hand" to her.  [ send green star]

I am so sorry about Java, but if he is suffering then it is best.   I hate to see an animal suffer even though I know I will miss it.   I will be praying for comfort and strength for Java's 'mommy'.   I do hope we see our beautiful pets again one day in Heaven and I know they will be well and happy and ecstatic to see us.

So Henry jumped into the truck, huh?   Animals so many times know where to go or people place them in the right spot.  My friend Chris who is a truckdriver and LOVES cats and all animals came out of the truck stop in Louisiana one time (she lives in Michigan) and someone had set a kitten in a box next to her truck.  She never had 2nd thoughts about taking him home with her.

That is wonderful Vicky that you saw the dog and was able to feed her. God seems to put the humans with the animals in need that he can depend on to help them.

I was shocked to see the kitten out here on the porch. It HAD to be God doing it, and He HAD to know that I was not going to catch a feral kitten with no trap.  That patch of woods is pretty far up the road.

Java is not going to make it. He is going to be humanely put to sleep tomorrow with his liver disease.  The poor woman is so sad.

The other night I put the tv on to go to sleep, and I checked to see if that Jack Van Impe  was on, and there he was. I never usually remember when he comes on, but it happened to be he was talking about the animals, and he said that 60 scholars believe they will be raptured up to Heaven. That was a comforting thought since I am not too sure about the rainbow bridge everyone enjoys believing in.

I'm kind of hoping the animals have the perfect bodies too, such as the ones that won't need to go potty. I need a break from the boxes.

Jimmy ran into  a lost cat that was sitting under someones truck at the store a few years back, and when he opened his truck door, the kitty hopped in. That was Henry. Jimmy couldn't leave him there to be running around in the parking lot of a busy store.

Thanks for the prayers Damaris, Vondi and Donna!   I did see her today TWICE.  I went before work and fed her and 4 hours later, after work.   After work I didn't see her at first BUT I stopped near the wooded area she usually goes in.  So I got out my truck and called (in a high pitched and sing songy voice) "Where's MY baby...where's my baby girl".   Well out of the woods she comes trotting and came up to me and my truck to see what goodies I had for her.  LOL    Of course she got canned and dried food and a bisquit.   I don't think she will come in my truck but maybe my car, which is lower to the ground.   No, Vondi she appears not to ever to have had pups so I am anxious to take her and get her fixed and a 6-1 shot.   (my other pup died of Parvo recently)

Donna, what a delightful and inspirational story about Mickey!  God is so good and works in such lovely ways!   I will keep Java in prayer that he can hold down food and use the potty.

The dog is in my prayers Vicky, and also you that you will find this dog and care for her.

Your story reminds me of when I was driving down the road, and I saw a tiny black kitten run into the woods. I went there for 3 days looking to see if I could see the kitten, and I was out there praying. On the third day I left it up to God, as the winter was coming, and I was sure this little kitten would freeze or starve.

I went home, and called my neighbor from way up the road, and she said she would drop off a trap for me. We said we need one anyway. Jimmy and I went out for a trap, and got back around 7. I left that spot near 5, when I came home.

In 2 and a half hours, maybe 3, The lord brought the kitten to me. This was quite a ways down the road, and the kitten was about 3 months old. I looked out the window, and the kitten was up on the table having a bite to eat. That night we set the trap by the door, and we caught Mickey.

I would like to ask for prayers for a kitty named java, who has been in the vets for a week with fatty liver disease. Please pray that this guy will hold his food down, and have a bowel movement, and be healthy enough to come back home.

Thanks!

I would like to request prayer for what appears to be a stray dog around 4 miles from me.   I had just left Walmart's last week and had dog food with me as I was going to church and spotted this poor black dog wandering around.  I made a mental note that when church was over and I was going home that if I saw it I would stop and feed it.   Well it was there with its ribs sticking out so I opened a can and it graciously ate it.   Coming back later that evening for the 6:00 p.m. service I noticed it again and stopped and gave it some dry food out of my 'rescue bag'.  (contains a bowl, spoon, dry and canned food and dog bones/bisquits).   Again, she gulped the food with thanks and walked over and disappeared into the woods on the other side of the street.   It poured down rain on Monday so I couldn't go and look for her and my friend and I went on Tuesday but didn't see her.   Wednesday, I found her and fed her again but I have made several trips back since then to no avail.   Please pray that she is safe, being fed even a little and that I can find her again.  I think I will bring her home with me.  Thank you.

Dirtyface has already ventured out into the rest of the house.  The first time he had a set to with Maxim and ran around the center pillar of the house about three times with his eyes like dinner plates.  He was going so fast that he kept missing the door to safety!

Rachael grabbed Maxim and I called Dirtyface,  He came to me and found the door.  Relief was written clearly on his furry face.  Maxim wasn't trying to hurt him, it was all a game for him and Dirtyface just ran so fast...hmm.    Dirtyface has gone out several times since then and explored.  Maxim ignores him.

Lastnight I closed my door to go to bed and then realized he wasn't in the room.  I opened the door and called kitty-kitty.  he answered me and came hustling back in.  He would have been unhappy to be locked out,  I'm sure I would have heard him in a few minutes.

The other two are not so bold, but they still come out into the room.  Andy is sleeping in Gable's cuddle bed right now.  Maxim is on the bed snoozing. Gable is beside me in the chair.

Only Cloudy is still timid, although he has adjusted to the new digs and comes out at night when all the activity is over..

I am so thankful!

She got out the back door again and before she could make it over the house Boomer chased her all over and I had the door open for her to run in and in she came. Thank You BOOMER !

I am so sorry I have not seen the updates on this thread.  Donna, my gosh you got Lucy back after 1 1/2 months!!   That is a miracle!  Wow!   I wonder why she didn't come to you when you called?  Had she gone wild I wonder?

Frank, I am sorry about Sparky and his cancer.   I will keep him and Brian, too, in my prayers.   Sparky is a very cute dog.

Donna, thnaks for the update on Lucy. Great that you didn't lose her forever.

Frank, Brian and Sparky are in my thoughts.

During the low point in his life, so far, my son Brian rescued a 6 mos old dog, a PBGV.That relationship was a salvation, for both. Sparky is now 10 and Brian learned today that Sparky has cancer. Please join me in praying for both. Thanks & God Bless.

I don't think I know where I am half the time, as I am just now seeing that I never got back about Lucy. I got a call from my  neighbor up the road that she saw a cat fitting that description, and I rushed up there and  she drove me around to the spot on her golf cart, and I got out to check the area, and there she was. I was almost wondering if it was her as  I called her and she ran back into the bushes. I left and went home as my friend set the trap for her. It was within the next couple of hours that I got the call that she went into the trap. She was very upset in the trap but was fine after getting her back home. I watch the door very carefully now as I don't want to go through that again. I thought for sure after all that time that she couldn't be alive. The temp was around 100 with a higher heat index. She did stay cool though, and she was getting food from the horse farm. The horse farm is a couple of doors up the road, and my friends property starts at the end of there. She has 37 acres. The horse people said they would set a trap for me as the woman who works there said she saw a cat fitting her description, and later on that day she was caught, so  I let her neighbor know to tell her that Lucy, AKA Screaming Belle was home.

Carolyn, I am just seeing your prayer request for Max and already you found out he is not going blind!   I am so happy for him and you.   May you have him for many more years and may God bless you both!

Donna, did you ever find Lucy or figure out what happened to her?

I would like to request prayer for my mom's bird 'Pretty Boy'.   I was trying to bring his cage in off her porch this morning and it wouldn't come down and when I turned around to go and tell her it fell and busted and the bird flew into our trees.   We have tried calling him and playing his bird CD but nothing.   I only see wild birds.   If he doesn't come back I pray he will survive but I know he cannot fend for himself.  I am sick about this.

Thank you Vicky, it is a mystery. I went through my neighbors trails yesterday and got to the back of my property that way since it is all closed up. I had to crawl in some areas but did not see a thing. I am STILL taking ticks off myself. The white spotted ones. One on my hip and the other behind my knee, and I found one on my shoulder.

I called the animal shelter but didn't really think she would be there. The shelter is very far. I thought they took care of this township but not according to the answering machine message. They said they do 3 townships and a borough, and if we are anybody else, call our local clerks office.

More than likely they have the same guy as always for years. he is a killer, especially cats, but  if someone calls about a raccoon he says they ARE rabid. He told this to Jimmy. Also, andy animal that needs a vet, especially cats, he puts to sleep right away without taking them tot he shelter, as he said the township gets on him if he spends too much money on that stuff.

Jimmy thinks she could have climbed back into a yard and died. I said there is no odor. There are so many places for a cat to hide that it is like looking for a needle in a haystack. There is loads of trees and bushes way out back that are the other neighbors. She could have ran in there and died, BUT, no turkey vultures are circling around anywhere.  This is just terrible. We know she is not hit in the roads as we went all over. I have been praying for help.

Donna, Lucy is in my prayers; I know how worried you are about her, especially in this heat.   May God be watching over her and send her back to you or give you word of what happened.

Please pray for God to send some angels, as I have been praying to the Holy Spirit with no help asking that he may guide me to my missing 18 year old cat since last Saturday between 4 and 7. I have been everywhere, Heat index since then has been over 100. She has shade in the wooded areas, but there is no signs of her. I need to know where she is, and if she is still alive I need to find her fast as she will need food and water. Especially water. Now if she isn't harmed or had a heart attack, she can climb quite well. She also has a loud meow, but we don't hear a thing. Please pray.

For Those Who Lose (or have lost) A Pet..... May 27, 2008 9:53 AM

A friend sent me this touching video and I cried so hard.   It is both beautiful, yet sad but since this is the animal thread I would like to share it with all those that have lost pets or will one day.

Please pray for my cats--DirtyFace, Andy, and Cloudy--during my move.  They have only ever known this house and me.  Cloudy is very timid and this will be horribly traumatic for him especially.

Pray that they will be easily put in their carriers and pray that we can even catch Cloudy.  He hides from everyone, even me sometimes.

Prayer request for all God's animals May 01, 2008 11:27 AM

My prayer is that all Gods animals have the food, shelter and love that they need, and I pray that they are healthy, and when it is time to say good bye, I pray that this is a peaceful transition with no pain and lots of comfort between the animal and her caretaker- Mom- friend.

Thank You Jesus, this is in your name I pray.
