Wisconsin DNR reviews judge’s decision to protect wolves
Wolves are back on the endangered species list in three Great Lakes states and can’t be touched, even when they pose a threat to livestock on private property.
“We’re very pleased that the court has recognized that the basis for the delisting decision was flawed and stops wolf recovery in its tracks. All of us at the Humane Society of the United States feel that this ruling recognizes that granting state oversight has been a failed experiment.”

Thanks for the information.
Thanks for the info. They have been talking about reintroduction for a while now but we have to make sure that the farmers do not demonise the wolves like they do everywhere else. This research rather proves that the wolves are no threat to the farmer.

First Wolf Hunting Season Nearly Over in Wyoming; Future Uncertain as Lawsuits Are Pending
Roxy- 11 minutes ago - trib.com
As of the latest update posted by the state on Wednesday, 11 more wolves can be taken before the season ends on Monday (31/12 )
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed wolves from the endangered species list in Wyoming on Sept. 30, kicking off the first hunting season since wolves were placed on the list in 1974. Since then, 41 wolves have been killed in 12 hunting areas, 23 killed in the predator zone and 39 killed by wildlife officials for livestock damage. Conservation groups have filed three lawsuits seeking to re-list the wolves; they are expected to be decided sometime in 2013.
Wyoming was the last Rocky Mountain state to see wolves delisted. The Bush administration removed Wyoming’s wolves in March 2008, but a judge placed them back on four months later, citing the state’s failure to ensure genetic interchange between Wyoming, Idaho and Montana.
The Obama administration removed wolves from the endangered species list in Montana and Idaho in 2011, but Wyoming’s wolves remained listed.
On Sept. 30, the Fish and Wildlife Service once again removed wolves from the list in Wyoming, saying the species was recovered in the state and the state’s management plan was sufficient.
Hunters have killed three wolves in Wyoming collared by either Yellowstone or Grand Teton National Parks....
Gov. Rick Snyder Signs Bill Clearing Way for Possible Gray Wolf Hunt in Michigan's Upper Peninsula
Roxy- 10 minutes ago - mlive.com
LANSING, MI - Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder’s signature on legislation will give the state the option of allowing a limited gray wolf hunt in the Upper Peninsula.
Snyder announced late Friday that he had signed a bill declaring the gray wolf as a game animal. The legislation will not automatically result in a wolf hunt – but it would clear the way for the state’s Natural Resources Commission to allow one, perhaps as early as 2013.
An update on the issue – including the state’s wolf management plan -- is expected at the NRC’s January meeting. That status update will come at the request of the NRC’s new chairman, J.R. Richardson of Ontonagon. It will involve the state's wolf management plan.
Wolves are no longer on the endangered species list in Michigan. There are likely at least 700 in the Upper Peninsula, according to the Department of Natural Resources. That’s up from just more than 500 in 2008 and just more than 200 in 2000.
If a hunt is established, it likely would be relatively small and focused in areas of the Upper Peninsula where farmers say they are having issues with wolves killing livestock.
Opinions have been divided on whether Michigan should have a wolf hunt.
The Humane Society of the United States is among the groups that has said it will oppose a wolf hunt, saying there is no justification for one. The organization says it wants wolves put back on the endangered species list.
The Michigan Farm Bureau and the Michigan United Conservation Clubs are among the groups that favor moving ahead with a possible hunt.
Signed. The only animal that other species need protection from is the murdering human.

VERY SAD NEWS --

Yet another collared, and very famous Yellowstone wolf killed in Wyoming’s hunt.
by KEN COLE on DECEMBER 7, 2012 ·
Wolf “06″, the alpha female of the Yellowstone’s Lamar Canyon Pack has been shot in Wyoming by a hunter.
Wolf “06″ was probably the most famous wolf in Yellowstone and had been viewed by thousands of Park visitors. She was also part of the ongoing study of wolves that has been conducted in Yellowstone since the time they were reintroduced in 1995. So far there have been 8 collared Yellowstone wolves killed this year and an unknown number of uncollared Yellowstone wolves have likely been killed as well.
The ongoing study of wolves and their interactions with other species is responsible for the huge amount of information gained since the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone and Central Idaho. The number of collared wolves lost to the hunt in the surrounding parts of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming could only be described as crippling to understanding the role that wolves play in the ecosystem. The wolves in Yellowstone also draw millions of tourist dollars to the area each year.
Several conservation groups have petitioned to ask that a buffer zone be created around Yellowstone National Park so that wolves that primarily use Yellowstone National Park have some level of protection when they move out of its boundaries.

thank you, dear monika, roxy and tasunka. all the information is very valuable and some of it is promising. our poor beautiful wolves, we must NEVER back down in protecting them!
Thank dear Tasunka for the update on Oregon wolves!
OREGON WOLVES ARE THRIVING.
Have actually merged with another wolf pack, and the oregon residents are protecting them from what I read on Oregon wild.
Montana is a screwy state, between their poor record on Native American rights, bison, wolves and all wildlife, they need a harsh wake up smack/the state is rife with hunting advocates and prejudiced people.
Thanks Roxy and Merci Monika for helping the wolves.

Checking in with a mountain of news ~ Rox
Hi Dear Friends, I am sorry I haven't kept up with letting you know my news links, But i feel like the bad news wolf fairy. There is nothing but bad news coming in about the wolves. BUT, Don't lose all hope.. we are losing the wolves in so many ways.. here is the bad news first.. sit down your going to need a chair.... We Lost Wyoming, ya.. we could not rescue them, they had the orders set up so screwy no one could get in there to get them. They had it open for helicopters to shoot and kill, no restrictions. It was too risky to send our teams in.. Then Canada opened up poisoned bait to be thrown down for the wolves up there... so we are on a mission to try to work with the Keystone XL Enbridge Resistance. But there is actually 3 entrance points, Alaska, Maine and BC...so This is Unfamiliar territory for me and I am kind of gotten to be commander on this project... EEEEKKK! I am NOT FAMILIAR with this .. so i am scrambling to learn anything.. I been recruiting anyone to help catch me up with any info... there is 6000 wolves going to be murdered up there and along with the caribou and what-ever other animals going to eat that poison..this is really bad!... Now for some good news.. we have gotten the red wolves in NC protected .. we got them safe and sound... scooped them up, and the mexican wolves are put away also.. this news will not be in the national news.. its all going to be hidden.. just know they are ok.. thats all you need to know... Journey the wolf from california.. is also ok.. no more news coming out about him... we need to protect our "gems" and we have a few gems tucked away that we wont let anyone know about until future time...so not all is lost.. there is some really cool things that we got in our pockets... Have to save something for our kids and grandbabies... needed to... can't let them be totally gone.. so beleive in miracles.. there is some.. believe it.... as for the numbers... in Jan we had started with about 4100 wolves in the usa, and by the time we hit the end of march 2013... we will be down to around 500, this is how many we have lost, add 6000 to that from canada and the ones were losing in the other parts of the world we will have killed about20,000 wolves in a year and almost wiped them out world wide in a little less then 2 years .... SO, I am trying to get some national news on NBC or BBC again...since i was on BBC with the re-intro in 1995. I am thinking i can take that tape and I might have some push with that, as a follow up. I was only one of 2 girls actually on the pilot program with the wolf. So maybe i stand a good chance to get a interview. If i live long enough. I was actually offered a biography interview... but i dont know if i will have time for that... so i need to get something going soon. .... OK some fast news... The org's have went from 50,000 people... to 100,000 members and now that i added the keystone...we hit 200,000 member mark... we got a FORCE ... we can make one hell of a stomp...this is world wide... our voice is getting heard and Gov Walker is creeping around me... and I don't think it's because he likes my old grey hair o,0 ugh...he creeps me out.... NEWS NOW... I got a few petitions please sign them if you like them... thanks peoples! love you
