I never normally send out messages regarding news or petitions, but I am making an exception in this case, as I think that few people are aware of the situation regarding Care2 petitions (via the Petition Site).
You may not know that any petition at the Petition Site (owned by Care2) can be amended / changed / rewritten at any time by the author or by Care2 staff, no matter how many signatures it has.
(I thank Just C. for bringing this to my attention.)
And that there is no requirement that the changes are sent out to signatories, nor that a caveat is added to the petition, stating that it has been edited, and how.
That makes a mockery of all petitions - and I am not even sure that it's legal.
You might sign a petition one day to save baby seals, and find that it has turned into a petition supporting the hunting of baby seals, and still has your signature on it. That is shocking, and I hope that Care2 will change this policy quickly.
Thanks to Vivien for her news story and petition on this subject. Here is a link to note the story so that we can get it to the Front Page, and a link to sign the petition.

Signed and noted !! and this is very disturbing.
There is a lot more to say about targeting and the name of a petitioner , I did , but Care2 always circumvented the problem, and they have long toes.
I have been for a while very leery about some of the petitions.
Now even more.
