Which Browser Is Best? July 03, 2005 2:50 PM

Hi, I have a question. When Mozilla Firefox came out, I tried both versions but I wasn't very impressed with the programs. So, I tried the Avant Browser and I really like it.
However, most people tell me that Firefox is better. So, my question is: Why is Firefox better than Avant?

Fred, I use both OPERA & AVANT & I have used MOZILLA FIREFOX. I prefer OPERA & AVANT.  Both leave the last sessions for when you open them again. I found MOZILLA FIREFOX too large for me, but a lot of people swear by them. OPERA is larger than AVANT & has more features. AVANT is just right for what I need. To each his own.  [ send green star]

http://www.deepnetexplorer.com/    a much better alternative

to I.E.    The only browswer to stop phsishing, also has facilities to

block those annoying pop-ups, and floating ads on your screen.

Has an alarm to warn you of dangerous sites.

Comes complete with p2p file sharing option.

Lorraine J. what exactly is P2P? The only thing I can come up with is People2People & how does that work with file sharing?

I still use IE:6; but did download the new Firefox yesterday; and just downloaded this Deepnet Browser; looks like a cool browser.

I like the "image saving" feature about IE; it is one of the reason's I am so hooked to it; but intend to actively use all 3 (IE, Firefox, & Deepnet) for awhile; I do wish Yahoo & Ebay had toolbars for all 3 browsers; Yahoo has Mozilla bars, and Ebay may have them also, but haven't checked yet...........

I detest Netscape; for some reason I never warmed to it; and when you try to remove it; it is like a Hydra; you can never totally remove it..................

One of the things some will not come to grips with is, "security in a browser is best in it's annominity".  That is, once it becomes "popular", there are those that have nothing better to do then find or create security holes.

I like Firefox, but it doesn't always load all the tools I have that I have to go with it.  The  XML Validator is great for those that need it.

Where IE 7 ? May 15, 2006 5:01 PM

I could not find the IE 7..unless you speak of the SE-upgrade on C/NET.download.net.

I am nervous about installing it as, I don't want to end up with no browser again, and lose all my 'favorites' a fourth time.

Randy.

anonymous IE 7 May 21, 2006 5:05 AM

IE 7 is found at microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/tour/fre/default.mspx

I don't think you'll have any problems with it but take the tour first to see if you'll like it. It automatically introgrates all your favorites.

It also uninstalls through add and remove programs with no problems

but I don't think you'll uninstall once you try it.

                                         Good Luck !

IE 7 looks nice but with it being a Beta version ...I would wait longer until more bugs are worked out.

There are about 5 beta versions going on for free download in Microsoft and I use one of the Windows Defender.  I still would suggest waiting until more bugs are worked out before downloading IE 7.  It looks nice ..... I agree and checked it out so many times tempted.  I'm waiting longer .....

People do love that slimbrowser. It's been around a long time and I belong to many computer forums and haven't hard any pros with the exception that it is old...   Other ones are more fun and exciting.

Slimbrowser does have the tabbed browsing & if you have trouble viewing this is one of the best smaller browsers around that offer good options.

Good luck,

prima aka Kym

anonymous IE 7 May 28, 2006 7:58 AM

I'm still using IE 7 with no problems,

alot of problems I have helped to solve has to do with the amount of privelage's a computer allows over the internet. I hate to wave my own flag but even microsoft agrees with me, unless you have a serious problem and need assistance correcting a problem, disable remote regestry it's only function is to allow anyone who has the knowledge to access your regestry through your browser while your browsing the internet and do as they please usually deleating DLL FILES ! which will cause programs to crash including a Browser.

I posted a list of Srevices that can be safely disabeled in this group (look in the arcives) and will only effect the abillity of a hacker to gain access to your computer. I have a pollicy the less that can be seen or accessed the better off I am. I really hate to say this but the truth be known all site's have hackers even this one!

It appears as though MSIE 7 as well as Opera are starting to "imatate" FireFox; which tells us something  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

PS July 09, 2006 2:37 PM

They just recently upgraded v.7 of MSIE, but you have to download it, uninstall the old one, and then install the new one. Kind of a pain but I like this one even better then the first V.7 that came out.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I have to use both IE and FF and prefer FF because of its extensions, which give me specific functions relevant to my work.  The down side is that sites such as care2 only work fully with IE - the popup windows when setting your profile do not display fully.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Why Firefox is better than Internet Explorer April 05, 2008 9:41 AM

Firefox is definitely better than Internet Explorer and it is for free.
Check out all the advantages Firefox has to offer you and you can even download it for free by clicking on the link/button at the bottom of the page at :

http://my-internet-tips-and-tricks.blogspot.com/2008/03/why-use-firefox.html

You can download it and use Internet Explorer and Firefox side by side till you are sure of yourself.

There is an extension that will let you load a FF tab using IE to render it (while the rest of the tabs are still FF)

Follow the link to download IE Tab
