What is a good processor or is there much difference between the processors?

My last computer had a celeron, but someone told me that pentium is better, so I have Pentium 4 in my new DELL.

Can someone please explane these differences, thanks?

It depends on your applications.  But a Pentium is the real thing.

Celeron is a scaled down version.

My wife uses a 2.4ghz Celeron at her office and has never had a problem (basically only has wp, spreads, outlook and internet).  However, with my CAD/CAM and Shop Floor Control software, I would never try it.
