external drives May 16, 2005 7:40 PM

I don't know if I'll be here to get any answers before I go on our trip or have to wait for answers, but I purchased an external Porche hard drive  & iomega 750 mb zip drive. They should be hooked up using USB ports.

My question is that my computer is NOT recognizing the external drives (except) the A floppy. Any suggestions?

Have you ever used an extension HUB port (4:1)? The zip was working until I plugged my external USB ports into the Targus HUB, now even when I plug the zip directly into the computer, the computer doesn't recognize it as it did before & I can't even find the word "Porche" anywhere on the computer.

I'm shutting the computer down while we're gone & "locking up" the surfboard for safekeeping (to keep my kids away from it). If anyone knows what may be the problem, the answer needs to be in very, very..... simplified terms... thanks.

Take care & God bless.

PS: I just had to change the cartridge in my color laser printer. It had a UPS ground tag to return the used one. I have used the return for a cleaner world before, but does anyone know of a program where you can get cartridges at a reduced price for returning one to them? Thanks again.

Perhaps, your computer is looking for the drive at the wrong port.  When I installed my printer, it asked for the port that it was hooked up to.  Did you try re-installing the software for your external drive?

RE:  P.S.:  OfficeMax offers a free pack of 500 sheets of paper (also known as a ream) for FREE when you return a used ink cartridge or a broken cell phone.  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]
