Maria Bartiromo cuffed Senator Ben Cardin (D., MD) about the ears when he turned up on her show to peddle the party line on the fiscal cliff negotiations. Having unsuccessfully explored alternatives to raising tax rates with him, she commented: “That’s all you want to do. That’s it. It’s your way or the highway. Raise the rates on the rich. No other way. Your way or the highway. That’s it. That’s where we are. Thank you, Senator.”
Bartiromo was not amused. She heatedly observed: “You’re talking about $1.2 trillion in revenue, but you’re not prepared to put anything on the table. People are not stupid!”
Larry O’Connor draws attention to the interview and picks up the story:
What happened next was one of th[ose] unscripted and spontaneous events that we love seeing on CNBC. Because the anchors are often engaged in these shouting matches while reporting from their perch hovering over the trading floor (or in the case of Rick S[a]ntelli right smack in the middle of the trading floor) the traders, the men and women who actually have to deal with the consequences of politicians’ ham-fisted policies, are listening and following the heated exchanges.
After Bartiromo called Cardin (and all Democrats) out for their duplicitous approach the traders erupted in cheers and applause….
O’Connor has posted the entire interview along with his post. Below are the last few minutes.
I'm a huge fan of Maria. I watch her every afternoon on The Squawk Box and she is as fiesty as a terrier! With her huge New York accent and her strong republican beliefs she can be an attack dog when she sees the truth being muddled by the media.
If you haven't had the opportunity to watch and listen to her, please do so. She can be very entertaining and her New York accent puts the icing on the cake!
This is great. If dems were held accountable by the media in this way, they wouldn't get away with their constant BS. Dems are just stunned when they are EVER called on it.
Elizabeth, while the liberals don't want to admit it, they are very elitist and that is why it is such a shock to them that anyone would question their position on anything; that includes day to day things like choice of clothes, etc. It is amazing that they feel they are not accountable to anyone but themselves and it had to be such fun to have watched this exchange. Thank you Diane, will tune in.
Remember, to be a "progressive' is to be "special" and above what is required of the common rabble! They are 'superior" in their own minds and none displays that more than our King Barack and Queen Michelle and the elitist incompetents they surround themselves with.
Unfortunately, their sense of elitism and superiority is reinforced by the media. If no one questions you or tells you you're wrong, the delusion that you're right and above reproach becomes reality.
