YOUR ACTION NEEDED: Big Cats Should NOT be Pets! Please write today! November 25, 2008 11:02 PM

Big Cats Should NOT be Pets!On Saturday, November 15, 2008, a 16 year old girl was mauled by a 150 pound cougar being kept as a pet in a residential area in North Miami-Dade.

Alan Rigerman keeps two cougars, and various snakes, tortoises and alligators as pets in his home. One would think that having these animals as pets would be illegal, but sadly, it is not.

Please take a moment to write the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commissioners, your elected state officials, and the local Miami media, urging them to adopt rules and enact laws that restrict citizens from keeping wild animals, especially big cats, as pets.
