I have no idea where most of these came from, so I can't credit most of them. Sigh. I do know the "Cafe Benden" one was drawn by my friend Beth's mother, though. And this top one may even have been done by someone else I know ... I just can't remember for certain. Mumble.
I know a website called Elfwood that has a lot of pictures of mythical beings made by amateur artists. It also has stories. We can also leave comments. I've left a lot of comments, so you might see my name there.

Hey those are beautiful, but this one caught my eye, I have a thing for unicorns.
This poem which I call 'Crimson Tears' is about the turbulent times we live in...
I watch with tears of blood How will I stop this crimson flood I behold the world in agony and pain Why must they behave so insane Please stop them with your light They have lost their way, their sight May they cast down the gauntlet of steel And embrace what it is to feel The agony I bear witness to is too much to bear They have forgotten what it is to care Bless them now before it is too late Give them love instead of hate

Ki-rin The Japanese Unicorn October 17, 2005 9:46 PM
This is a mythical creature called a Kirin or Ki-rin a Japanese unicorn, an animal-god who punishes the wicked with it's single horn.
It protects the just and grants them good luck. The Ki-rin (or Ki-lin) is a closely related creature to the Unicorn, but said to be more rare.
The Ki-rin is a solitary creature like the unicorn, and personifies all that is good, pure, and peaceful.
According to Chinese mythology its home is in paradise, where it can live to be up to a thousand years old.
It only visits the world infrequently, but may bring good luck to those it considers deserve it.
Kirin look some what like a cross between a dragon and Unicorn. This is possible, because Dragons do live in Japan and China.
Like Dragons, Unicorns have been spotted all over the world.
In times when the world is more majickal than today, Unicorns and Dragons where more heavy in numbers.
Unicorns where hunted during these times for the medicinal and majical powers of thier horns.
So they became rare or possibly extinct, it is a rumor that they still do live in this world but they are protected by powerful Wizards.
When the sage Kau You presided in his court, he decided questions of guilt and innocence himself, especially if they involved such minor things as a disputed tea house, an injury sustained while riding in another family's carriage, or a tomb that was not built to specificafions. But when the case was a serious criminal one involving a death, he sometimes did not entirely trust his own judgment. At those times he turned to the sin - you. The sin - you always knew who was innocent and who was guilty, and its judgment was unsparing. It would stand very still, fix its sun-flecked eyes upon the guilty person, and then pierce him
through the heart with its horn. The Japanese unicorn, or kirin, could detect guilt and would punish the guilty with death. The idea of a one-homed creature became so solid a fixture in predicting births and deaths and served as a warning that the guilty will surely be punished. Whatever the reasons, the unicorn was an important part of oriental culture.
The Unicorn and the Virgin October 17, 2005 9:59 PM
This painting reflects the Japanese heritage of the artist, who acknowledges using many older art forms as inspiration. In this instance, we have an interesting confluence of Oriental-style artistry with Indo-European mythos: the unicorn and the "proverbial" virgin. I like how the unicorn's horn protrudes through the upper "border" of the painting, and the pair of deer running in the lower border.

Your an ice dragon! Congrats! Out of all the dragons, you are most powerful but do not like to show it. A rare and special creture, you have artistic style and are great at expressing yourself. You think friends and Familly are the most important, and are a hopeless romantic. But of course, as ice goes, you can be a little cold or harsh at times. But not to worry, you always apoligize later!Take this quiz!
