How to maintain contact with loved ones after their death October 03, 2010 9:43 AM

From "The Holy Longing" by Ronald Rolheiser:

We will meet the ones we can no longer touch when we put ourselves in situations where their souls once flourished.  Our loved ones live where they have always lived and it is there we will find them...Simply put, we find our deceased loved oned by entering into life, in terms of love and faith, in the way that was most distinctive to them.  We contact them and connect ourselves to them when, in our own lives, we shape the infinite richness of God's life and compassion in the way they did, when we pour ourselves into life as they did...

Halloween and Day of the Dead October 31, 2010 2:50 PM

A Happy Halloween to everybody - I'll be in my usual Santa Claus outfit (in memory of my Dad, who started the tradition.  Kids are both confused by it and love it...

And, tomorrow we celebrate the Day of the Dead, another way to communicate with those who are the other side of the veil...

Tim, going back to your first post.... October 31, 2010 10:54 PM

I think it kind of echoes my ambition to Bill's bucket list for him - e.g., taking the pilot's license class.  Maybe not where his soul fluorished, but would have flourished.  There's a sit called reaperlist.com where you can catalog your bucket list, and check things off as you do them; you can also make a list for your lost one and check things off as you do some of theirs to honor their memory. (Yes, 'reaperlist' is kind of grim, but if you can move past that, there are some really nice people on there.)

I have not previously heard of reaperlist, but will have to check it out...the name may bother some, but I think it's kind of cool...
