Some Comfort... January 13, 2006 5:30 PM

When we lose a loved one, we feel devastated... Yet - there are times when we do feel some comfort to our pain...  Perhaps a phone call or a letter from a friend...  Sharing a similar experience with a stranger... Looking at some old photos which were taken "in the good, old times"...  A kind gesture from a neighbor...

Any particular input?  Or personal stories?  Please, let's talk about it and feel better in the process!

Giuliana... January 14, 2006 6:24 PM

Giuliana...I stood the picture frame up of Rachel, my niece on a shelf of the restaurant we recently started up. That picture appears to be a guardian angel for us since she looks over our shoulders and many customers feel compelled to ask who she is and I tell them proudly who she is and was. Every now and then it can get me right here in the heart where it still hurts, but to speak of her frequently also gives me hope and helps to keep her very much alive. I can't bear to think that she should be forgotten so in this gesture alone I feel great comfort and solace. What a lovely question, Giuliana. Thank you for asking it. Goodnight all and peace and blessings be.---ginger  [ send green star]

What a Coincidence! January 15, 2006 2:05 PM

No doubt Rachel is watching over you, my dear Ginger!  And she will be always part of your life...  I can understand how interested everybody is to hear her story and how proud you must be to talk about her!

By a mere coincidence, I had a similar idea concerning my Tony...

I have some kind of a "ledge" in the living room with some nice light effects, real plants, two small speakers, a straw basket, some books, AND - a personalized flag display case!  You may remember, in fact, that Tony was a US Navy Reserve Captain...  At his funeral, he was given full Military Honors and I was presented with the flag which had covered his casket.  Well, I had a nice case especially made for it and I must say it does attract people's attention more than anything else on the ledge!

We're both paying a tribute to our deceased loved ones, Ginger...
