ANY FAVORITE HOBBIES? May 16, 2006 3:38 PM

Did your deceased loved one have a special hobby?  Did you share it with him/her?  I think that if you did, it certainly created a closer connection!

Please, let's discuss it.

As far as my father is concerned, I didn't share his love for music (he used to go to lots of concerts!) and I wasn't interested in soccer (he was an official referee when he was young)...

However, we both LOVED Nature, traveling, and animals (cats in particular)...  We'd be watching a sunset together in total awe...  we'd jump in a car/plane and visit the most interesting places...  we'd be feeding  stray dogs every day...  At home, we'd always have a cat and spoil him/her...

I miss all this!  But they're precious memories I'll be cherishing forever...

Nor sure they would be called hobbies, but Laurel shared our interest in 60's music and the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee.  One year, she had a bubble gum bubble blowing contest against "Mickey Mouse" (Wayne Allwine, who is Mickey's voice and a drummer for a group that was here).

With Dad, he was a softball umpire up to the semi pro level, and we always went to watch while he umpired.

Good times, and I miss them...but remember them with fondness.

I do go with my husband to the basketball and have begun to like it. I think we should give everything a try and if it doesnt seem like what we'd expect we can just stay away from it. That goes for food too. I enjoy tasting variety of foods from diverse cultures. It only enriches your life.

Like I was saying....but couldnt complete....

Its possible to be able to pick on hobbies now even though we may think its late. So, stop waiting and on a lighter note....

--until your car or home is paid off
--until you get a new car or home
--until your kids leave the house
--until you go back to school
--until you lose ten pounds
--until you gain ten pounds
--until you finish school
--until you get a divorce
--until you get married
--until you have kids
--until you retire
--until summer
--until spring
--until winter
--until fall
--until you die

There is no better time than RIGHT NOW to be happy.
Happiness is a JOURNEY, not a destination.
So -- work like you don't need money,
Love like you've never been hurt,
And dance like no one's watching.
