Opinions from hybrid owners January 18, 2006 6:07 AM

I'm doing a product promotion presentation for my speech class, and I was wondering if I could get a general idea of what owners of hybrid cars think of them. How much more did you have to spend and was it worth it? Has it changed your lifestyle at all and how? Why did you choose to go hybrid? And anything else you would like to share. Thank you!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
I LOVE my Hybrid! January 18, 2006 10:54 AM

I have a 2005 Prius, I paid 21,000 for it and to me, it is well worth it! I chose to go hybrid for the gas savings and emissions cut back. A year later, I'm still happy I did it - some people say they think it's too slow, but where do I need to go so fast??? Stacey -------  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I have a 2002 Prius and I still love it. It has plenty of speed, can pass just fine. I bought it for low gas ussage and low emisions. I would deffinatly buy another one.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
I also love my hybrid! January 18, 2006 7:13 PM

I have a 2004 Civic Hybrid, 5 speed manual transmission. I bought it December 2003 for about 18K. My daughter owns a 2000 Civic VP, so I have a similar car to compare it to. The car is great. Handles nicely. Accelerates well. I have no problem pulling out onto highways. In the 2+ years I've had the car I've clocked about 33K miles. I live in New Jersey and have traveled as far as Kentucky - including crossing the mountains with very little problem. In West Virginia where the speed limit is 75 mph my car had no problem handling it. Storage is good. When my daughter and I went to Kentucky we packed our camping and climbing gear - including the crash pad. When we arrived at our site it was too late to pitch camp, so we slept in the car. Yes, even with all our gear there was still plenty of room for us to sleep! I purchased the car because of environmental consciousness - low emissions and great gas mileage. The mpg varies with the outside temperature and driving conditions. The highest average I've hit is 78, and the lowest was 38. On average, over the 2+ years in all types of driving condiditions is about 45 mpg - which is not bad. Oh, I also got a 2K tax write off on my return the first year I had the car - nice bonus!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

I love my 2002 TOyota Prius Hybrid! The dealer I bought it from has been great with wonderful service. I love the gas mileage it gets, it is roomy on the inside and I have taken it on long trips to the mountains with no problems; it may be heavy and slower, but it gets the job done. I would recommend them to anyone who asks me!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
