MPG by '06 HCH June 18, 2006 1:41 AM

I've had my HCH since Jan,'06. The first two months I was disappointed as I only reached 42 mpg. As the weather has warmed it has slowly improved. I've had several tanks over 50 mpg and my lifetime mpg has gone up to 48.8 mpg. My last tank is the best. I made several longer trips 50-90 miles and I drove very slow. This tank was 700.5 miles on 11.243 gallons of gas! The mpg figures out to be 62.3. The three most important variables are speed, weather, and driving techniques. The Honda Civic Hybrid clearly does best when you can avoid starts/stops and drive under load. I've been amazed at how much better than Consumer Reports rates this car (37 mpg) it can do. My worst tank was 40.0 in Feb./Mar. It would be nice if the members of this group had their hybrid car in their profile (if they have one). Good luck to other Hybrid car owners.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
