What do you think?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

That's a tough question - it really depends on what you are looking to get out of it. If you're looking for best milage - it's one, If you're looking for most power with hybrid engine, that's another....etc.....  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
Best hybrid... November 29, 2007 4:50 PM

My vote would be the Prius. It gets the best mileage and has a fairly roomy interior. Kind of wish Honda hadn't stopped making the Insight though - it was possible to get one with a manual transmission.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
Technology? November 30, 2007 4:09 AM

As Stacey says, it really does depend on your needs and desires. But in terms of the technology, I think Toyota is a generation or two ahead of the other manufacturers. The buzz I'm hearing is that the Toyota's next generation hybrid technology will include a plug-in option to boost battery charge. I believe they already have a proof of concept working with the Prius. Hopefully we'll see it in the 2009 model year. We just love our two Toyotas: a 2002 Prius (130,000+ miles now) getting an average 47.5 mpg overall; and a 2007 Highlander (just over 10,000) with an average 26.7 mpg--pretty good for a vehicle of it's size and weight.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

The hybrids that are available now are not close to being "the best". How about a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) / electric hybrid for urban delivery? How about a diesel / electric hybrid for rural delivery? For the urban commuter, forget hybrid and go to straight plug-in electric. For the highway cruiser, a small diesel with regenerative braking to power an electric motor for extra power during acceleration.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

My Prius is wonderful - I'm on my second one!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
