Glad Newsweek has joined the group April 30, 2005 1:49 PM

As the owner of a Prius since 2004, and a computational physicist prior to retirement, it is gratifying to see that a non car-enthusiast specific magazine has finally agreed that hybrid vehicles are a worthy idea. Though they may not be the be all and end all for environmentally sound transportation, still they're well ahead of what is in second place and at the very least widespread use of hybrid technology would give us "breathing room" to continue the development of viable alternatives to purely internal combustion engine driven cars. Something I read somewhere sums up hybrid performance nicely for me. "A hybrid automobile [a Prius in this case] driven across the country emits the same volume of pollutants as emptying a spray can of aerosol shaving cream." (In contrast to a standard auto which would emit tens of pounds or more driven the same disance.)  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
