Prius in the snow? May 12, 2005 3:40 PM

Hi I am in the market for a hybrid, but I have heard that the Prius does not handle well in the snow? Does anyone have any advice regarding this? I am in New York, so driving in the snow will be fairly common Thanks!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
They come with Mud & Snow tires. May 15, 2005 12:09 AM

I hear studded tires would be necessary only for going up a steep hill because the weight is in the front. I don't plan on doing this since that would have to be a very steep here. I figure it would it would be like a mini van type of thing with front wheel drive & a 60/40 weight percentage of the front & rear weight distribution. You could ask your dealor. Discount Tires told me they were good tires, & could be upgraded on the next set.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

My parents own a Prius, they live in NH (the house is 1500ft up, so, lots of snow this winter). They just have snow tires. Seemed to be fine. Definately ask the dealer.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
