I am the owner of 4 ratties at the moment, and the moderator of a ratgroup, not on care2. I had this sweet, chatty, rattygirl RatBerta, who loved to sit on my shoulder and chatter in my ear. Unfortunately she went over the bridge to ratty heaven a few months ago. She had one litter, of which I kept 2, and my daughter took 2 to her home. Her rattygirl, Starbuck, was lonely, so she bought her a friend, a hairless rat named Godiva. Godiva died suddenly and my 25 yo daughter called me in tears, asking what to do with Godiva, as she lived in a small apartment with no yard. I suggested wrapping her in something pretty, saying a prayer, and putting her in the dumpster. My daughter was mortified, no she would bring her home to be buried with her family. So I said fine, wrap her good, and put her in the freezer until you next come home. Now weeks pass, and my son goes up to Lubbock, where she lives, and hangs out over spring break. I worked all weekend, and while blearilly looking for milk for my coffee on saturday morning, on my counter I spy this absolutely beautiful shoebox, ornate with flowers and closed with much duct tape. I stare for a moment, then have one of those Oh Sh@* revelations, that this is Godiva! So into the freezer she goes. Godiva had her proper Christian burial, like her mother before her, and has some pansies on her grave. Kids will be kids.
