Hello & Welcome! March 29, 2005 4:06 AM

Welcome and hello. We're off to a bit of a slow start, but I think this group is a good idea. Here's a thread to give our introductions and get to know one another. I am the first time mother of a 5 month old boy! I have a lot of questions, some stuff I just want to talk about, and love for my new family I want to share. Right now is a fun time, because Cyrus has just recently caught ahold of his toes, AND his ability to shriek. It's a great combination!  [ send green star]

anonymous Hi April 05, 2005 10:21 PM

My name is Michelle and I'm a new parent of twin girls! Alyssa and Alessandra are almost 5 months old and needless to say I have my hands full! I look forward to sharing experiences and stories about our little ones! I also want to say that I recently started my own group for parents of twins or multiples, it's called Don't divide your love, multiply it! Anyone with multiples is welcome to join or just check it out. I can't wait to get to know everyone here! Michelle  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

Hi Michelle! It sounds like you must have a handful with twin girls! It must be twice as nice! It's neat to hear that they are the same age as my son too! I can't wait to see what they do next!  [ send green star]

Melissa April 18, 2005 3:17 AM

I heard your tiny cry for help over at the TMA group... And well....I could really need a group like this from time to time as I have a 20 month old son and no one to share him with (raising him all by myself ).

Oh, and please bear over with my english! It could have been better, but I'm working on it.

ohh Melissa.. April 18, 2005 6:49 AM

I'm the parent of eight year old Ben. Eight years after his birth I love him more every day.

Feel free to plug your group on any of my groups (like that would help anything!)

One trick(?) I do is post to my groups regularly to create the illusion  of activity...amazingly enough  (sometimes) people actually come and (believe it or don't) POST!!!

Also I'm a big believer in game threads that people  can hit and run on.

Of course I don't expect you to agree with any of this.

I can hardly believe my son Andy will be 10 months old this coming Saturday! Seems like we just brought him home ^_^ I work full-time while my wife Laura L. (also on Care2) works as a stay-at-home mom. I miss him dearly everyday and cherish our weekends.

I remember when he first got a hold of his toes. Laura was telling her mom about it who asked if he could put his feet into his mouth. Laura demured that she thought he was too plump for that but sure enough he was able to do it depite the chub ^_^

to all our new members, and thanks for your posts!  I welcome all your suggestions, and thanks!  I hope that this will be a great place for us to support each other and share ideas!

Cyrus has got his toes but can't get them in his mouth yet.  Plump is not a large enough word to describe him!

Anniina-

Sorry I live too far away to babysit, but I can't wait to find out about your son too!  Green stars and big points for taking on that responsibility on by yourself.  Marty- I bet your son is the most fun in the world.  I can't wait until my son is that age!

Anniina and Ron- are you guys getting into talking yet?

Hi Melissa! April 19, 2005 11:57 PM

Well, I too am a carry-over from CC and TMA. My son is already nine years old, but I was a single parent for the first eight years so there is very little about his infancy & toddlerhood that I don't remember. Also I just love to talk! Thanks for inviting  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Hi Julie!

Thanks for coming.  I hope that there can be all kind of parents here.  Kids are new everyday, and its great to talk with someone who went through the same things already!

Hi... April 21, 2005 4:09 PM

I am not a parent ... but I do babysit, so I have stories, too ... I hope that's ok ... I heard a plea for members in this group, so I decided to join! I have a couple of flailing groups myself, so I understand.

Ok, so the last 9 months or so, I have been creating ... not life, exactly ... but close. This morning I gave birth to an Honours Thesis! It is a bouncing 109 pages long, and 24,305 words. It weighs in at about 1 1/2 pounds, and is 8x10". I am so proud. (And please don't take this the wrong way .. I am not mocking parents in any way, shape or form. It's just my way of joining in!)

Happy parenting!

That's cute Rebecca! Congrats on your new bundle of joy... I'd wager it was far more than eleven hours of labour! Hey... that might be an interesting thread... how long was your (wife's) labor? Baby weight? ready to do it again? lol  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Thanks Rebecca, it's nice to have someone else here who loves kids.  Can't wait to here about your experiences and advice!  [ send green star]

Melissa,

Andy has said hi, dada, and kitty (though it sounds more like kidjee) Not sure if he really associate the words with their meaning (all pets are kitties...even the big black dog)

He also tends to babble and "talk" continuously when he's tired.

Cyrus likes talking to the wall in particular.  He will talk to me when our cats go by, but he won't talk to them.  When we put him in his little jumper he talks, and screams, and giggles, but I'm not sure it's directed at anything.  I can't wait for him to say mama or dad!

My sister-in-law has two girls, just a tiny bit younger than your boys, and is due with the third in a few months... and I ask her the same question! I am a mother of a 14 month old girl. The first few months after she was born was very hard for me. Daddy worked a lot of hours and was never home when I needed him the most. He now has a new job and is home more often.

Hello December 03, 2005 3:45 PM

Hello, I wanted to take is time to intoduce myself to the group.

My name is Tracey 26 and i have a beautiful little boy 7months, im a pretty new mom and i love everthing about being a parent.  Im intrested in meeting new people and chatting about our children and anything else that might come up.

I also want everyone to know about a charity that i hold close to my heart. Its the Kaitlin Bolton-Sunshine fund.  Kaitlin is my Cousin and she is 10yrs old and is suffering from MLD my aunt and uncle get no help from the goverment nor any other facility. We do fundraisers in Kaitlin's honor to help get the things she needs to one stay alive and two get better.  It cost over $50,000 last year and with my aunt taking care of Kaitlin, and my uncle only working you can imagine how hard it must be for them.  But with the help of great people around our communities we raise money for them every year!

Well i welcome you to chat with me and i look forward to chatting with you, take care till then!

Tracey

Does anyone have any ideas of what i should get him for christmas? i mean i have ideas i just want to make sure im right about them....  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

REPLY December 08, 2005 8:21 PM

Hi Kristal, Congrats on getting to take care of your son!  A few ideas for you would be things that are bright in colour that would catch his attention.  My son is attracted to red.  Also toys that make noise or play music is always good.  My son is only 7 12 months old and these are the things that grab his attention. I also think things that have different textures on them would be great to.  Again my son just sits and feels all the fabrics and is so curious about it all!  You will really enjoy watching your son explore everything new to him, it truely is wonderful! hope i could help a bit.  keep in touch Good luck and have a very merry holiday!

Wondering July 26, 2007 3:21 PM

I'm not really a parent but my sister (only sister and older lol) just gave birth to my first neice. I love her so much. I love to take care of her and help my sister with things. I know she's not mine but I still have alot of questions and concerns. I hope you all don't mind that I participate in this forum just because the new baby isn't mine lol Still would love to hear your stories and hope to get answers when I have a question. I love learning new things about babies and love hearing other's stories

Oh yeah my neice is 3 weeks old already turning over and holding her head up lol
