I joined because I know a little about dealing with children who have been molested and raped
and what it does to them.
I have two granddaughters who were molested.one was only five when he step father convinced she was his "favorite" and began giving her baths, then molesting her when he got her out of the tub.It took two years to bring him to justice. The bum got 25 years. He had to serve 18.The only reason he got as much as he did was because we got a good judge that I had worked with on another issue.Any other judge would have given him 10 years.
The other one was 11 years old when her step brother raped her repeatedly. She wound up pregnant and at 11 years old had to have an abortion. He got off free.he was 16.He did some time in JDC for other things but as for what happened to her--she was the only one who paid--in many ways. She is still being talked about and being degraded at school after two years.
The penalties are not stiff enough when the molester is still a minor in age.He should have been tried as an adult because he already a drug charge and other charges against him.My daughter had to move out of their home twice because the courts sent him back home.DHS had told my daughter if the two were ever in the same house they would take my granddaughter so they had to leave.
I know the agony of having a child who has been molested. My daughter was molested by a cousin when she was 4 but she blocked it out of her memory. We knew nothing of it until she remembered on her own at the age of 14.
This young man went on through life molesting girls until he finally went all out and raped a woman;went to prison, served his time and committed rape two more times.Right now he is in prison for life and has been castrated.
Castration should be the first punishment.
They say that it is not a sex thing;that is all about power.Any male that has to hurt a female child to feel powerful is nowhere near being a man no matter what his age.
