Please pass this on to any groups you work with -- or anyone who could benefit. ******************** I wanted to post this to let everyone know that the free spay/neuter program that is only going to last until Sept. 1st. If anyone knows somebody in these area codes that is in need of spay/neuter help for low income families, this is the place to go. SPCA of Texas and The Humane Society of The United States join Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC) to provide free spay/neuter surgeries for select zip codes. WHAT: The SPCA of Texas and The Humane Society of the United States are teaming up with the Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC) to offer free spay/neuter surgeries for the pets of low-income families.

All dogs and up to four cats per household from 14 specific zip codes are eligible June 1 through September 1, 2005, Subject to available funding. QUALIFYING ZIP CODES: 75203, 75211, 75212, 75216, 75217, 75224, 75227, 75228, 75232, 75233, 75236, 75237, 75241, 75253. Photo ID or a copy of a utility bill will be required as proof of residency in a qualified zip code. The special is funded by the Metroplex Animal Coalition (MAC), an alliance of 501(C)3 animal welfare organizations in Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties who wish to reduce euthanasia of dogs and cats in local shelters. The promotion includes rabies vaccination and post operative pain medication at no charge. Any additional veterinarian or vaccination expenses incurred are the responsibility of the pet owner. WHY: If left intact, a companion animal can produce an unlimited number of offspring in his or her lifetime. Sadly, shelters in the four-county D/FW area euthanize an estimated 200,000 dogs and cats every year. Spaying and neutering lessens the chances of a pet developing cancer, reduces roaming tendencies and decreases the pet's urge to mark.

WHEN: June 1 through September 1, 2005. Cats must be in carriers and dogs on leashes.

WHERE: SPCA Martin Animal Wellness Center 362 S. Industrial Blvd., Dallas, TX, 75207 214/651-9611 ext. 116 or 133 HSUS Spay and Neuter Clinic 4830 Village Fair Drive, Dallas, TX 75244 214-372-9999
