Urgent appeal for a wolf in romania June 28, 2008 10:44 AM
This is a message from a friend. WE really need your help, any idea or contact from an international organization taking care of wolves or other wild animals would be of great help. Please reply ro email@example.com and if you have any ideea, leave your number, we will call right away. This is a desperate appeal. Please let us know if there is any reservation outside Romania, where King could be taken and helped. We need advice also in all transport conditions and necessary measures. He is gentle, still a wild animal, therefore he cannot be taken in someones flat or yard... In Romania there is no other reservation whre he could be taken and he is used to people feeding him. Hunters and aggressive tourists are a big danger to him. We do not know how to solve this for King, we really need your help! And above all vets cannot cope with this kind of situation in Romania. "In Romania, in Brasov County, 6 km from city of Zarnesti, there is a natural reservation, the only one in Romania for wolves. In spring 2008 2 wolves of 4 were still alive: King (the male) and Meadow (the female). Beautiful creatures, intelligent and with a special personality, but a year ago they showed some health problems (due to parodontosis Meadow had lost her teeth). This was a major question point: who is taking care of these wolves? In winter 2007 they looked pretty bad and a person from the area explained that there was no one taking care of the wolves anymore, they only survived with food from tourists, from time to time. 2 days ago I went there and I called for them. They usually came quickly, in a hurry. This time it took many many calls for King to appear. Shy and frightened he came from behind the trees. The picture was unbelievable: from the beautiful daring animal there was like a shadow left, very skinny, with a big wound on the back, hungry and ... alone. He ate everything but trembling and ready anytime to run away and hide. Meadow did not show up After this visit to the wolves I made some calls and I found out some things. Meadow had died 3 days before my trip from a natural death they say No one else is taking care of the wolves anymore. King is suffering from loneliness and hunger, scared and all alone, just a shadow looking for some help." Pictures with the wolves before In winter 2007 King three days ago!
