I've been trying to figure out if PETA has finished it's campaign against P&G. Apparently P&G have made some changes and PETA has finished actively campaigning against the company as a whole, but is still targetting the subsidiaries. For some reason it is hard to get good info on this. But I found this interesting article:
Did you write to Peta to find out if this is the case? I sounds funny that they would give up so easily when there's still so much work to do with them.
I wouldn't say they have given up. They just keep shifting their focus to what they see as the worst offenders. If they continue their campaign regardless of what P&G does and refuse to settle for anything less than complete 'obediance' to PETA's demands then they will force P&G to go on the defensive rather than negotiate. By rewarding even small efforts on behalf of companies, they leverage their own efforts to achieve change. That way they can force many companies to make the smaller changes that are most significant for animal welfare and concentrate their efforts on comapanies that refuse to respond. That way PETA only has to look at a company and it will at least take notice. It is better for PETA if they are seen as a significant threat that can be easily appeased with a few changes than a significant and terminal threat that has to be destroyed.
I haven't contacted them personally but I have read emails from PETA representatives. However I don't particularly trust emails to reflect what is really happening, because a company or organisation can't be held to it's word if it was just in a private communication. I have been trying to find an 'official' public statement or press release.
Have to support freediver - they shift...read very closely what they write, Dana...they are a good organization but they slip also....I am a member so I know...but would not boycott them but criticize them - and I do
