Thousands of Mexican migrants die each year searching for a better place to live. We make the border more and more dangerous to cross, but if migrants are lucky to cross undetected we reward them with low paying jobs. One too many deaths are occurring each month in Arizona. The numbers of these deaths are only increasing while Arizona immigration policies are staying the same. We need an immigration refrom! No more deaths!
Please sign this petition and email an invite to sign this petition to everyone you know. We have to stop the deaths occuring on Arizonan soil. If you want more information on ways you can help please contact me.
Foie gras (translated literally from French as "fatty liver") is produced by cruel and inhumane farming practices. At just a few months old, ducks are confined inside dark sheds and force-fed enormous amounts of food several times a day. A farm worker grabs each duck and, one by one, thrusts a metal pipe down their throats as a mechanized pump shoots a mixture of corn directly into their gullets. In just a matter of weeks, the ducks become grossly overweight and their livers expand up to 10 times their normal size.
As a result, ducks raised for foie gras have difficulty standing, walking, and even breathing. Many of them die before the end of the force-feeding cycle, and the mortality rate for ducks raised on foie gras farms is among the highest in the farming industry. Necropsies performed on foie gras ducks have shown extreme obesity, impaction of undigested food in the esophagus, lacerations in the throat, and a proliferation of bacterial and fungal growth in their upper digestive tracts.
Scientific research on foie gras ducks has shown, among other things, that "because normal liver function is seriously impaired in birds with the hypertrophied liver which occurs at the end of force feeding, the level of steatosis should be considered pathological" and that "it is clear that steatosis and other effects of force feeding are lethal when the procedures are continued."

PLEASE HELP TO ANIMALS IN MEXICO, SEND PROTEST LETTER AGAINST THE "PASEO DEL BUEY" IN QUERETARO
This cruel celebration dedicated to the Virgin of a small town will be carried out on February 05, in Villa Corregidora , Queretaro, Mexico, organized by the franciscanos monks , entails a week of dances. This celebration starts with the famous "Paseo del buey" (stroll of the ox): people walk two oxen across the town with flowers, vegetables, fruits adorning them, while people shout, throw firecrackres at their feet, etc., the animals are forced to walk while they get burned with cigarettes, kicked, spit on them, pull their tails and ears, pulled by the ring in their noses until the animals do not want to walk due to extreme stress and pain then the rabble setp up teh punshiment until they break their legs. When finished the oxen are sent to the butcher to prepare a famous "caldo de buey" (ox broth) which will be consumed the following day by the participants of the celebrations. We must put pressure immediately as this will happen on February 05. I encloseaddresses for you to use to ask them to stop this.
By the end of the hunt, more than 300,000 seals are expected to be clubbed or shot to death by fishermen who hunt seals off-season to pick up extra cash by selling their skins. Almost all of their victims will be babies -- some as young as 12 days old.
During a recent hunt, veterinarians who examined dead seals concluded that 42% of the seals examined had most likely been skinned while they were alive and still conscious.
Polls consistently show that most Canadians oppose the hunt, but still the Canadian government and fishing industry refuse to end it.
But there is new hope on the ice. Canada has a new Prime Minister, Stephen Harper, and a new party in power. With enough public support, they may consider ending this terrible hunt forever.
More than half of the world's fur products are imported from China, a country where there are no animal welfare regulations and animals suffer the worst kinds of abuses. Among the rabbits, coyotes, foxes and other animals, millions of cats and dogs are brutally murdered for their fur. Many of them still wear collars and ID tags, an indication that they were stolen from loving guardians to be turned into fur trim and trinkets. Dog and cat fur exported to the U.S. is often deliberately mislabeled as being from another species, so many consumers who purchase it are wearing the fur of a dog or cat without knowing it. A new investigation of the Chinese fur industry revealed dogs and cats packed into wire cages and stacked by the thousands onto trucks. The footage documents fur farm workers throwing cages from the tops of trucks to the ground, a ten-foot drop that shatters the legs of many animals inside, then poking animals through the wire mesh with wooden poles. Animals are then killed by hanging, strangulation or electrocution, but investigators also witnessed some animals literally being skinned alive and then thrown onto a pile of other dead and dying animals. Some continue to live - their eyes blinking and their hearts visibly beating inside their exposed ribs - for up to ten minutes.
We, the undersigned, therefore urge that the Chinese Government: - pass a national animal welfare law. - urgently introduce and enforce legislation prohibiting the skinning of live animals. - urgently introduce and enforce legislation prohibiting inhumane treatment and slaughter methods, - introduce and enforce legislation prohibiting the inhumane confinement of animals.
The local government of Chongqing municipality's Wanzhou district has ordered that all pet dogs (even the vaccinated ones!) be put to death before March 15! because a resident died of rabies. Just when you think being a dog owner in China can't get any scarier ... Please sign
