Vitamin D

When the nurse from my doctors office called and told me I was extremely deficint in Vit D and to begin taking 3 2000 IU per day. Vit D 3.
Well I was concerned and immediately bought some and began to take it.
Next time I was in the doctors office in the room waiting for him, I overheard the nurse on the phone, she was calling patient after patient telling them the same as she told me.
So I didn't feel so special or unique after that ,I finished a couple of bottles of Vit D but now I have been slipping and not taking it.

Nutrition AND Sunshine are Vital to Health!

People don't realize how vastly important a role nutrition plays in overall health.  My life's work is that of being a doctor of naturopathy, and so I routinely introduce people to the idea that they could feel better no matter what their condition if they looked to what they eat, and use proper supplementation as needed...also get plenty of water, rest, exercise, and SUNSHINE in the case of Vitamin D.  It's amazing the difference that people can feel!

Sunshine often gets a bad rap, but it is so basic to attaining good health.  Fifteem minutes a day, three times a week, is really all that's required to make enough Vitamin D.  I think it's very sad that so many children aren't getting this!

Winters can be especially difficult if you live in a cold state, like me.  But a good supplement can help a lot.  I only use high quality supplements, and so this is the one I'd suggest:  Calcium Plus Vitamin D  (this is a very good calcium source, too...all natural and in a form which the body can easily use.)  For just straight vitamin d, there is this:  Vitamin D3

If you notice the ingredients, it comes from sheep lanolin, which I'm not particularly a proponent of...however...if using vitamin d in a supplement form, or any supplement product, for that fact, it is always wise to know the source.  In this case, the sheep are certified bse-free.

Here is an article about Vitamin D which I particularly like:

Vitamin D myths, facts and statistics

Lst January, I had surgery to remove a parathyroid tumor that is essence increases so much production of calcium that all sorts of weird sypmptoms occurred including kidney stones and parkinson like tremors.  Once it was removed--pfft all the symptomes disappeared like that.  However, the endocrinologist said I would have to be on large doses of Vit D probably forever.  At first it was 50,000units per week for 8 weeks then once a month thereafter.  So I guess it is really important.
