Burts Bees Carrot Cream. If you are vegan you might not purchase from the company because they use bees wax for their chapstick, but I love their products. The toners are great, too! They have one that is made fromlettuce, one from tomatos, and another one.

I usually purchase a product called Aloe Vera 80 with the original "Leaping Bunny" logo. You can get it from any vitamin store. I've also been getting Avon and now Mary Kay as they no longer test.

Here's a pic of this bottle.
Agree Shampoo! It didn't have the bunny, but it said it didn't test. Does that mean it could test the ingredents or that it doesn't test and it just hasn't been leaping bunny approved? jw

Ah! What a great question. We have many posts throughout but I think I might start a new topic to consolidate them. Thanks for the idea! And for joining!

I'd first like to say, I LOVE this group! (I just discovered it through SisterHarmonia)....
The last cruelty-free items I bought were Aubrey Organics moisturizer for babies (great stuff, as many of you probably know) and a tube of Tom's toothpaste...
In a previous post Sharon H asked about a list of companies that do not test on animals.... If you visit leapingbunny.org they will send you a free "shopping guide"
Erisan unscented shampoo and conditioner (I add my own pure essential oils to scent them, e.g. rosemary or lavender)

Weleda May 16, 2005 1:42 PM
The last cruelty-free item I bought is: Massage oil Arnica (Weleda products). If you don't know these wonderful cosmetics, you can visit the Weleda website international: http://www.weleda.com/
More about Weleda:
2. Animal Protection and Animal Testing Neither in the production nor in product development is testing on animals to be carried out, nor outsourced to another company. Ingredients not on the market before 1/1/98 may only be used if they were not tested on animals. Ingredients already on the market that were tested on animals after 1/1/98 are excluded even if they were carried out by a third party, by contract, with permission of the contracting buying agent or by anyone legally or contractually connected with them. The use of animal by-products from vertebrates (i.e. spermaceti, tortoise oil, mink oil, marmot oil, animal fats, animal collagen or fresh cells) is not allowed.
I love the Weleda products; especially the face cream. last thing I bought was J-a-s-o-n tea tree shampoo. Great stuff as is the conditioner and deoderant. I am curious if any one knows how to tell if a product/company claims no testing do they mean "no testing" for the product but it allows them in some secretive way to test on each individual component of the product????? thanks

A bunch of Yves Rocher stuff. Shower gels mostly. I wrote to them and asked if they tested on animals or if they contracted out to labs to test their products on animals. I was told they do neither so right now I'm feeling pretty good about that. I would have stopped buying from them regardless of how good their stuff smells.

The last item I bought was Dr. Bronners 18 In One Magic Soaps - Hemp/Lavender... I love this stuff, you can brush your teeth with it (although I do not recommend it with the lavender one, it just does not taste well) you can wash with it, you can use it as shaving cream, you can wash your hair with it (perfect for dreads, so I hear)... it is amazing... it is Magic!!!
Wow, I look forward to trying Weleda products since so many of you recommend them!
I am curious if any one knows how to tell if a product/company claims no testing do they mean "no testing" for the product but it allows them in some secretive way to test on each individual component of the product????? thanks
I believe the only way to be absolutely certain about whether or not a company tests on animals at any stage of development is if the product has the Leaping Bunny Logo (www.leapingbunny.org). Companies who adopt this logo have pledged of their own accord that they will not “conduct or commission animal tests for any of their finished products, ingredients, or formulations after a fixed cut-off date."
But otherwise, consumers have no real way of knowing -- unless it says explicitly on the product... No doubt there are other companies that are not involved in any way with animal testing, but it's not always easy -- as you know! -- for consumers to be certain, which is why all cruelty-free companies should adopt the leapingbunny logo!
After I posted, I saw Sharon's question on companies that don't test on animals. PETA has a list of those that do and don't test that you can download. Vivian

I've tried many products that aren't tested on animals. As for animal by-products, well beeswax I'm ok with, so I love most Burt's Bees, but I don't care for their cosmetics--too greasy. Instead, I use Aveda--they're pricey, but last a long time, use plant-based and often organic ingredients, and smell heavenly from the essential oils! I also like Tom's of Maine toothpaste--it's all I'll use. Kiss My Face is another great one, and they have a new Obsessively Organic Face Care line. Oh, and their shampoo and conditioner are the best! My all-time favourite though are Olivier's homemade soap products. They're made in my region from delicious olive oil, beeswax, cocoa butter, and plant ingredients, using heirloom recipes. They really are an innovative source, and I love to buy local. An added perk is that all of their soaps do double duty as a shampoo (just think of all those bottles that could be kept out of landfills). The soaps also have little or no packaging. I could rave on and on....they have a website where you can order online...sure you can google it. My favourite flavors are Citrus Mint, Lavender, their baby shampoo, and Toby loves their shaving soap. Really worth checking out! Great thread, love to hear what you're using!

Just wanted to send out a reminder that AVON is cruelty-free and you have your very own rep right here in your group! I sell it to make more people aware of animal testing. I plaster my books with Stop Animal Tests stickers, put brochures in my orders, and continuously remind my customers of the benefit to being cruelty-free. Check out my website www.youravon.com/brionyscottt or email me at bbscott2@yahoo.com if you have any questions about AVON.

I just stocked up while visiting relatives in Flagstaff since it is very hard to find good products where I live. Seventh Generation lavender washing detergent, and other household products, Kiss My Face everything I could find in Patchouli, Burt's Bees lip gloss, Avalon Organics Rosemary shampoo, and of course a Tofurkey for the holidays!
Kiss My Face liquid rock is excellent. I love the patchouli scent. I was using some P & G product until I realized what their company stood for and was pleasantly surprised that this brand of roll on deodorant actually works better! HIGHLY recommended.

Biokleen laundry detergent. No animal products or testing. So far, it works great! I'm also a huge fan of Avon. Wonderful skin toners, moisturizers and scrubs!
Probably from JASON, I am addicted to their tee tree oil mouthwash and toothpaste. I only buy cruelty free. I am vegan and feel strongly about animal cruelty.
I used the toothpaste made by 'Jason' and another CR, Jason was the most recent, got gingivitis. I take good care of my teeth.!
Brush after coffee and cigarettes. Brush, Floss and Rinse before bed. I also carry floss w/me to use as needed during the day.
My dentist told me it would go away in a wk. At that time I wasn't rinsing. 2 mo. later w/rinse in addition to flossing and brushing, still had gingivitis AND it worsened.
Bought and used the dreaded Proctor and Gamble Toothpaste Crest. Gingivitis, gone in a wk.
Before using cruelty free toothpaste, I used Pepsodent. Cheap, didn't burn. Then it was said that tested on animals.
These are the facts. I take very good care of my teeth. I used 2 different cruelty free toothpastes, lastly Jason. Nevermore. Within months I had loose gums, gingivitis, a swollen papallae, could only eat mush, couldn't sit my jaw right, needed antibiotics......F That.
I am a cruelty free buyer. I've tried 2 different (VERY EXPENSIVE) toothpastes and all that?!!!
Sorry, but this is 1 product in this realm I will have to opt out of. Improve!
Also, I buy the CF detergent. 6x's as much $, same /the toothpaste. Good for basic washing, but not stains or odor.
Wet-n-Wild-----Excellent alternative the the Cover Girl I was buying.
Don't buy the pencil. Buy the "square" stick in plastic. F. Awesome. Sunday, I walked through a dept. store, had a couple gliches in my brows, and added to my eyes. Lacome. Yea, crap. My eyes were blurry for about an hr. FTS.
nature clean shampoo, conditioner and laundry soap. Not an all in one, I bought all three on one shopping trip. Not only are they cruelty free, the are biodegradable!!
