a dog needs a home!

This sounds like an awesome dog. There is a real lucky family or individual out there who needs this dog. I say they are lucky because a dog this sweet will love you to the very end. Jenn

well, this is all horse %#&!*%. "Our Armed Forces saved and are caring for Saddam's Arabians, so why can't we save our [Musatang Horses]?". Something a little off about that, i don't know....

and:

"People honestly don't have a clue as we do not eat horses in the United States. If anyone wants to know what distinquishes a horse from a bovine, then ask yourself: Have you ever seen a Police Officer riding a steer, or have steers ever carried our Cavalry into battle?"

i was doing some research, and i found this:
(if you have the time, it's a nice read...not too long)

Reverence for the cow is an important feature of Hinduism. For Hindus, the killing of a cow is a serious crime. The Arthashashtra [1] refers to the killing of cattle as a crime worthy of death [2]. This explains why during the Second World War, "American servicemen in Calcutta were instructed that if a traffic situation arose in which the driver had a choice of striking a cow or a human, hit the human and proceed without stopping to a police station" [3].
M.K Gandhi [Mahatma Ghandhi] in his book Hindu Dharma says, "Cow-protection is an article of faith in Hinduism. Apart from its religious sanctity, it is an ennobling creed." (p.108). He also says, "If someone were to ask me what the most important outward manifestation of Hinduism was, I would suggest that it was the idea of cow-protection." (p. 110). He further says, "No one who does not believe in cow-protection can possibly be a Hindu." (p. 118).

It is because of the cows divine position that Hindus regard its urine, and dung as purifier [4]. Considering the divine status of the cow, some special provision has been made in the constitution of India for its protection. Moreover, slaughtering of the cow has been banned in several provinces of India."

so...horses are important to us becuse we can ride on them, they can pull things, provide pleasure, companionship and entertainment. I suppose mosr horses have decient lives...until they become glue...but i skipped that part of animal farm too. Cows, however, have it tough. Cows are constantly being messed with. Crowded in trucks, hooked up to milking machines, mothiring once a year and never knowing a calf, being herded blindly, in the barn all winter, treated like commidity, mass produced, slaughtered, a perpetual speciacide....that sucks

and the petition calls for folks to help out in name of country...such upsetting nationalism, as a Canadian, it scares me. the hidden message is: "Whats mine is mine, and worth more that what you have." ......

....etc etc

Hi Folks,

Today it was reported that six wild horses were slaughtered in DeKalb, Illinois by Cavel, Inc. which is a foreign owned horse slaughterhouse. At the rate these wild horses and burros are being rounded up, they will be extinct very shortly as their Federal protection ended on December 8, 2004 with the signing of the 2005 Omnibus Appropriations Act. This bill had an amendment slipped in by Senator Conrad Burns (R-MT) who is a Cattle Rancher with a massive conflict of interest when it comes to wild horses and burros.

I have organized a 'National Mounted Police Officers Against Slaughter' day for Sunday, May 22, 2005. The NYPD, Hoboken, NJ, and Newark, NJ mounted units are all participating with their horses and their K-9 dogs.

I need folks in other large cities to help me, and the International Fund For Horses, get as many mounted units to participate on that day as possible.

Please email me directly at:

antigone1998@animail.net

for the details. Both Hoboken and Manhattan are always in the press (duh) and this will get coverage in New York and New Jersey and maybe make the Nightly News. I would like to have Mounted Units all across the country convening in a park, etc. on that day with their service animals to get the word out to the American people that this goes on, and how absolutely abhorrent it is. People honestly don't have a clue as we do not eat horses in the United States.

If anyone wants to know what distinquishes a horse from a bovine, then ask yourself: Have you ever seen a Police Officer riding a steer, or have steers ever carried our Cavalry into battle? Horses are not food. Our Armed Forces saved and are caring for Saddam's Arabians, so why can't we save our own?

Please visit my web site at:

http://www.manesandtailsorganization.org

So you can make a phone call to your Representative and Senators to support the horse bills. The details of the bills are on the home page. Every phone call counts as the opinion of TEN people...You can find the contact info by clicking the 'Advocacy' link...

Thank you all!!!
