The Taku watershed is too valuable to be sacrificed!
The Taku region is the largest unroaded wild salmon watershed on the Pacific coast of North America. The wild salmon, wildlife and old growth forests of the Taku are at risk! Though more than 4000 members of the public wrote in to demand that Canadian officials not approve the Tulsequah Chief mine and road project, no final decision has been made and the Taku is still under threat. Now is the time to remind decision-makers that the public is watching and will not tolerate this mine and road project that could devastate the majestic Taku watershed and undermine the legal rights of the Taku River Tlingit First Nation. Click here http://69.90.68.232:8174/clientfiles/twa/actioncentres/taku-ceaa/takeaction.jsp to send a fax to federal cabinet representatives telling them that northwest BC’s Taku River watershed is too valuable to be sacrificed!

MARINE PARKS IGNORE PLIGHT OF WHALES AS NUMBER OF DEATHS RISES
The recent death of an orca known as "Splash" at a SeaWorld park in California, has brought the total death toll for orcas in captivity to a shocking 8 in the past year alone.
In captivity, the lives of whales and dolphins are often dramatically shortened through illness, stress, or injury. At only 15 years old, Splash was a youngster and his death highlights the huge concerns about the welfare of whales and dolphins held in marine parks around the world.
Ignoring such concerns, Loro Parque in Spain has announced it will transport 4 orcas thousands of miles from Sea World parks in the US to a new captive facility in Tenerife later this year. WDCS is campaigning against the import on the grounds that it would be illegal according to regulations surrounding the trade in endangered species.
Bonsai describes the ancient Japanese art of growing miniature trees by rigorous pruning of their roots and branches. Because of their small size, aesthetic appeal, and minimal upkeep requirements, Bonsai trees have long been popular additions to offices and homes. In late 2000 a website debuted that described how to apply the same Bonsai principles to kittens. The idea was to seal the kittens inside glass containers. As they grew (fed and watered through a tube), the bones of the cats would supposedly conform to the shape of whatever container held them. At the end of the process a uniquely shaped 'Bonsai Kitten' would emerge—sure to be the envy of all. "You no longer need be satisfied with a house pet having the same mundane shape as all other members of its species," the site declared. "With Bonsai Kitten a world of variation awaits you, limited only by your own imagination." The site also advertised that hand-grown Bonsai Kittens were available for sale to the public. BonsaiKitten.com almost immediately generated a huge amount of controversy. Furious animal lovers insisted that it be closed down. The Humane Society of the United States denounced it, and when it discovered that the site had been created by an MIT student (or students) and was hosted on the university's servers, demanded that MIT shut it down. MIT complied and pulled the plug on the site on December 22, 2000. But that was not the end of BonsaiKitten.com. What started was a game of 'cat and mouse,' as the site simply began relocating from one server to another. Whenever furious animal lovers discovered its new location, they would bombard its host with criticism until the weary host, buckling under the weight of the attacks, would force BonsaiKitten.com to move on and find a new home. This continued until the site finally found a permanent home on Rotten.com. During this time the site's creators at MIT began giving interviews to the press through the fictitious persona of "Dr. Michael Wong Chang." They explained that the site was a prank designed to satirize "the human belief of nature as a commodity." But this did little to calm the animal lovers whose anger continued to grow and grow. In February 2001 even the FBI got involved and subpoenaed all information about the site from MIT. But its investigation came up empty when it found no evidence of animal abuse or of the sale of Bonsai Kittens. Even today, years after its creation, BonsaiKitten.com continues to generate criticism, though it has by now been thoroughly debunked as a hoax. An email petition continues to circulate around urging people to help shut down the site. This petition itself is basically a hoax, since it's not going to get the site shut down. Many argue that the Bonsai Kitten hoax is actually too shocking, that it crosses the line of decency and promotes cruelty to animals. Of course, the line of acceptability will fall in a different place for everyone, but one should consider that the best satire is often cruel. We here at the Museum are quite certain that the MIT students were not suggesting that people actually torture kittens, just as we are quite certain that Jonathan Swift was not actually suggesting that the rich should eat the children of the poor when he wrote his famous "A Modest Proposal" in 1729. We take the students at face value when they said that they were satirizing "the human belief of nature as a commodity." But we also think that they may have unintentionally been giving voice to the mathematical spirit that lurks in the heart of every MIT student—that spirit which strives to transform the messy chaotic world into linear, geometric precision. In this particular case, it meant transforming cute kittens into rectangular monsters. Robert K. >

Royal Hanneford, the last I heard, had two Asian elephants, Tina and Ina, one of which has tested positive for TB yet last year I was told by one of their own circus workers that she was still giving rides. But now today I receive an email saying they have Asian OKA and 2 African as well the two circuses are now partnered and there may be a link to Circus Getti as the owners wife’s name is Getti.
Altho a different version of Shriners had this to say just this a.m.:
” This year, the only way to see an elephant or a white tiger up close was to buy an inflatable toy version.”
However they still have ponies and smaller animals. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I am posting my original message here again. May I suggest, to those who want to help, copy and paste this entire message into a word file and save for your own personal use. The circus WILL sneak up on you. It may be 6 months from now and you may forget or lose this message. It will be good then to have it readily available if you are willing to help.
Thank you, dearly, friends, for taking the time to read this.

Dear Friends who care,
With circus season upon us, it is important for everyone to know about the abuse and cruelty to circus animals and be prepared with what YOU can do to help. I think its fairly self explanatory as to WHY, by meeting our dearly departed Tyke. Please click here to learn the legacy of Tyke: http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=524&pst=9553&archival=1
Tuberculosis is very real and dangerous threat to children who take elephant rides. Read about the risks of TB to humans who attend circuses: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/EID/vol4no2/michalak.htm (If elephants are coming with the circus, it is possible to arrange for your local Health inspector to be there and check for risks of TB to attendees.)
(More dirt on individual circuses and what YOU can to below – PLEASE READ
Circuses have learned that if given time, people like me and you will stop them from coming to your town. This is why they fiendishly sneak up on you with no notice and sometimes change their names from town to town to evade bad reputations. This is why it is important to BE PREPARED. They creep into our school systems by soliciting tickets through the education boards, yet most of these school boards ignore their own policies of NO ADVERTISING for PROFIT and NO SOLICITING in the schools. This often times needs to be pointed out to the schools AND the sponsors by caring individuals in the community, like yourself.
Spearheading an unannounced investigation: If you reside in the United States, and want to help, it is vitally important to contact your USDA’s AHPIS (Animal Health and Plant Inspection Service) Veterinary inspector for your local region – before the circus arrives if possible, but if not, filing a complaint afterward helps too.
To get the contact name and info for YOUR Regional APHIS inspector (a federal DVM), please call this number: 970-494-7478 Tell them what town and state you are in and they will give you contact info.
BEFORE the circus arrives: Ask your APHIS inspector to BE THERE while the circus is there and do an unannounced inspection. (Its good to get chummy with your inspector, if possible – taking them out to lunch to discuss it works wonders
AFTER the circus leaves: File a formal complaint. If you make observations yourself, you have grounds for a written complaint. (fax to 970-494-7461) and insist on follow up. This will FORCE an unannounced USDA APHIS inspection at one of the next stops for that circus.
If you are able to get the inspector there before the circus, it would also be helpful to get your local Animal Control to work with APHIS documenting Animal Welfare violations.
This leaves a trail of documented inspections and forces the USDA/APHIS to do their job and inspect and document violations, which they have been quite negligent on for most of history.
Newspaper articles and letters to the editor: You can call your
[send green star]
Newspaper articles and letters to the editor: You can call your local newsroom and ask a reporter to do a story. Give them all the info you can find about animal abuse, fraud and other violations. OR you can write a letter to the editor yourself. Good example of a letter to the editor (Scroll down to last letter): http://www.centredaily.com/mld/centredaily/news/opinion/11350852.htm
Protesting: If you have the largest circus, Ringling Bros. Barnam & Bailey (RBB or the second largest, Carson and Barnes (C& circus (in the U coming to your town, a protest would be helpful, provided you are prepared, with a large group of people and in a rather large city where the media could be there. Otherwise, your voice and observations behind the scenes will be far more helpful in the long run.
Posters and Tickets: If you have the time (or if you know some highschool kids or others to help) it is always helpful to go around town and take down posters and take tickets off counters. This is also a way to educate your community by talking with the business owners about what they are supporting when hanging posters or giving out tickets. Some of the smaller, scamming circuses change their names from town to town and will go so far as to just tape a black and white print out of the name, location and time of performances over old info. See an example (use password “jennie”): http://dingo.care2.com/pictures/c2c/galleries/cache/derivative/2/3/2336773.jpg This is something else, that often times, needs to be pointed out to business owners by people like yourself.
Going in undercover: Another good thing to do is try to get video of mistreatment or photos of evidence of abrasions, lesions or neurotic behavior of the animals. This can be difficult, however, because the circuses know we are trying to catch them on video tape and usually don’t allow video camera or cameras of any kind around the animals. (You didn’t hear this from me, but they have those tiny hidden spy cams for like $20 now that can be planted on the persona). If you get usable footage, you will become famous OR stay completely anonymous – its all up to you! Keep in mind the circus people put their best face forward when spectators are about and the layman can easily be fooled into thinking “the animals are treated great.”
The biggest scam this year and last is the Bailey Bro’s circus (rip off of Ringling) who got in trouble last yr in Anchorage for using Coca Cola’s name as a sponsor and for being observed abusing the elephant Queenie aka Baby Ruth. The next town, they called themselves Wallace and Rogers’ Brothers where they were caught using Verizon, Microsoft and McDonalds names fraudulently on tickets. This year they call themselves the Great Circus of China and deny that they are one in the same – wait till you read the scam about the white guys wearing wigs posing as Chinese Acrobats: (LOL) http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=524&pst=93728
They could be coming to your town next and they could be changing the name to do so!
*Do you LOVE Investigative Reporting? Real life MOB stories? Real-life deep, twisted SPY stories? Read just how far the mobster tied spies at Ringling will go to hide their dirty nasties, in this awesome investigative report by SALON.com Magazine. I guarantee you will NOT be disappointed when you read this!!!: http://dir.salon.com/news/feature/2001/08/30/circus/index.html (I hope they make this into a movie one day)
If Ringling comes, you can also educate the schools about the Internet Child Porn scandal about a Ringling CLOWN. If animal abuse does not work, which often times it does not, we must make use of the other nasty habits and dirty, scandalous tricks circuses use to literally SCAM and mislead the public. As CNN reports: http://www.cnn.com/2004/LAW/05/25/clown.porn.charges/
A shocking 241-page report was documented with federal investigations about Ringling’s mistreatment of elephants and proof of how the USDA and APHIS has worked in cahoots with Ringling to cover up more of their dirty nasty elephant abuse and premature deaths. http://www.fundforanimals.org/library/documentViewer.asp?ID=1130&table=documents
Read about the negligent death of African Lion Clyde on the Ringling train when they refused to give him water and just plain air! And the death of baby elephant Ricardo who was being forced to train on a circus platform when he was only months old! http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=524&pst=8296&archival=1
C&B, like Ringling, breeds elephants (who generally die prematurely). They legally, yet falsely claim “conservation.” Although they are only breeding to profit themselves. One primary example is the sad story of poor baby Jennie. http://circuswatchwa.org/news/peta_carson_barnes_circus.htm
Last year, C&B used a humiliating photo ad of Jennie – even after she died at the young age of 5, still advertising her. They claimed publicly that it was a clerical error. However, they are still using the same ad this year. http://www.insolidaritywithanimals.com/news/june04babyele.php They also claim she and baby Obert’s mother is ISLA (ILA) a traveling elephant when in fact their mother is ISA (a different ele) who is used for breeding at their breeding compound, not traveling. They took baby Obert away from her far too soon to perform, so they (convenient clerical error) claim ISLA is the mother to the media. Yet another scam to mislead the public about their elephant abuse. See the sickening ad featuring baby Jennie, still being used today (use password “jennie”): http://dingo.care2.com/pictures/c2c/galleries/cache/derivative/2/3/2336777.jpg
There is so much you can do – educate kids and parents in your community about all of these things. Tell your friends and family. Write your legislatures. If in the US, write your 2 Senators and Representative and ask them to take action against the use of animals in circuses.

While fur farming has been banned in the UK, Norway’s Hå Municipality and Norwegian fur farmers are planning to build a massive fur-farming complex in Rogaland, in the western part of Norway. The complex would be the largest in Norway and would house more than 110,000 animals.
This is despite the fact that the majority of Norwegians are against fur farming and, according to Norwegian animal rights group NOAH, a Norwegian court has ruled that fur farming is unethical.
Animals on fur farms suffer severe confinement and deprivation of all that is natural to them. Fur-farmed animals are often seen bobbing their heads and pacing in their dirty cages—disturbing, repetitive behaviour that is a sign of severe psychological distress.
Several fur farmers have shown interest in the complex but are seeking government support.
Please contact Hå Municipality to politely lodge your protest, and encourage your friends and family to do the same:
Please also contact Teknisk Etat (The document distribution centre responsible for regulation of the land that would be used for the complex): teknisk@ha.kommune.no
Please also contact the head municipal planning officer for Hå commune: Kristian Sjursen (+47) 51 79 31 04 (+47) 41 53 26 60 (cellular)
You can also send letters to the local politicians in Hå Municipality. You can find the names and addresses of relevant politicians in Hå on NOAH’s Web site.

Hello everyone,
Just wanted to give you an update regarding the Kindervision Foundation and their campagaign using wolves in a negative manner. www.wolftraps.com
I spoke to the corp. offices today. The President Mr. Sebastian is out of town until Wednesday and I have arranged for a conference call with him on that day. I spoke at length with the Debra, she is the V.P. and expressed my concerns about the campaign and coming up with some pro-active solutions. She was very polite and understanding, but not the person that makes the ultimate decisions. She did state that Mr. Sebastian is very aware of the issue and is willing to discuss it on Wednesday.
I still encourage everyone to sign the petition and send pro-active polite emails stating why this campaign needs to change and the effects it has on wolves.
We are up to 471 sig's on the petition! Let's keep it going folks!
Thank you for your past support in signing the "Stop Canada's Cruel and Senseless Seal Hunt" petition. We thought you'd be interested in an update from the field from the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW):
With the first phase of Canada's annual seal hunt in the Gulf of St. Lawrence now over, more than 105,000 seals have been killed. Spectacular ice floes transformed into giant white nurseries just weeks ago are now stained red with the blood of seal carcasses as far as the eye can see. Last week they began killing another 200,000 seals in Newfoundland.
The Canadian government maintains that the hunt is humane. But our observers returning from the ice have witnessed numerous acts of cruelty and suffering, from clubbed baby seals left in agony while hunters move quickly onto the next seal, to seals shot and left to die a slow death under the ice. As IFAW's video footage shows, the seal hunt continues to inflict unnecessary suffering and cruelty to baby seals as young as 12 days old. ___________________________________________________
Thanks to your earlier efforts, we have made great strides in building the international outrage needed to end the slaughter.
But we need your help to intensify the pressure on Canada's government to end the hunt!
Please cut and paste this message into an email to your friends to maintain the momentum:
Dear Friends,
I have just read and signed the petition: "Stop Canada's Cruel and Senseless Seal Hunt" from The International Fund for Animal Welfare: http://www.care2.com/go/z/23181
Many people are unaware that hundreds of thousands of baby seals are still being cruelly killed each year mainly for their fur -- frivolous luxury items that no one really needs! Please help by speaking out against the largest government sanctioned slaughter of marine mammals in the world by signing this petition.
Every voice raised against such a cruel and unnecessary hunt is critical to raising the public pressure needed to convince the Canadian government to change.
Thank you! ___________________________________________________ Thank you for taking action today!

3:22 PM Message: SAVE THE KERMODE BEAR April 17, 2005 5:30 AM Kermode bears are black bears with a genetic distinction that makes them white. There are less than 400 left in the world and they only live in BC's coastal rainforest.
Logging companies are planning to cut down large amounts of the trees in this forest, leaving the Kermode bear's habitat diminished, and will therefore destruct the population of this rare treasure. Please sign this petition to save these bears from extinction because they're losing their homes so that we can have new IKEA furniture.
We say, Save the endangered white black bear (the Kermode Bear) from extinction: stop the logging of their homes!! Sign the petition
Instead of showing that non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching can be used to prevent livestock depredations without violence, Carter Niemeyer is once again ignoring these methods and engaging in murder.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
1) First contact Niemeyer and voice your outrage against his continual denial of non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching. If he educated the rancher Tom Beale and helped getting him to use non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching Practices, this would have never happened. Murder is not a solution for co-existence.
2) In the letter to Niemeyer, use the links from here: http://www.heartofthewolf.org/source.html This is because all here is proof and that which he continues to deny.
4) Spread the word, for the more people that oppose this, the more it shows that many more folks refuse to have creatures that deserve to live oppressed.
USFWS continues to murder Wolves! Stop it. October 17, 2005 3:17 PM
USFWS continues to murder Wolves! Stop it. 10/13/2005
Graham McDougal of Montana Wildlife Services murders Wolf! This new murderer has murdered one Wolf of the Battlefield Pack and seeks to murder 2 more.
Him and Ed Bangs (who contributed to the report about this), continually ignore non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching and also don't educate others about it as a solution to livestock interactions with Wolves. This is what they ignore. http://www.heartofthewolf.org/source.htm
Email them both today in opposition to their murderous ways and tell them to stop murdering Wolves and start using non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching practices to prevent this. They know the Ranchers they murder for, so these issues can be prevented without violence. Their emails are the following.
graham_mcdougal@fws.gov and ed_bangs@fws.gov
Carter Niemeyer wants to murder more Wolves!
Niemeyer wants to murder a Wolf from the Moyer Basin Pack. One has been murdered already. And it is being 'donated' for research to a David Carrier of the University of Utah (carrier@biology.utah.edu) who will be harvesting the poor dead Wolf's organs for another project in Illinois.
As a result, he wants to murder another Wolf. And he continues to ignore non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching as solutions to peaceful existence in the issues of livestock interactions with Wolves. And as always Ed Bangs is the knowing bystander who refuses to do anything about it and tries to unsuccessfully hide the identities in this report of the murderers and collaborators involved.
Contact them both at:
carter_niemeyer@fws.gov and ed_bangs@fws.gov
And contact Carrier about his unethicalness for participating in dealing with murderers for the sake of 'science.'
In fact, torture and the murder of Wolves on the Turkish TV networks is the epitome of what they think of them. As a result the European Union, if they admit Turkey needs to begin an active effort to preserve and protect the Wolves in Turkey.
Education, in addition to proliferation of non lethal Methods and Predator Friendly Ranching practices in Livestock interactions with Wolves can create hopefully a lasting peace. This is our opportunity to get peace in Turkey between Wolves and humans. A peace without violence or oppression.
Write letters now via email to the European Union. Here is the url for contacts.
As a result, he is going to Gale Norton and wanting her to delist them.
We know this claim is ridiculous. Since Wolves rarely attack cattle, this is one reason. Another, ecosystems with Wolves have finally started to recover. Even studies in Yellowstone have proved this.
This is nothing more than fear and lies being generated as an excuse to delist Wolves so more can be murdered.
This is to oppose his decision to have Wolves delisted. Explain that Wolves are not decimating wildlife, and that Wolves haven't been decimating livestock and that there are peaceful means available to live with Wolves, rather than murdering them.
Then please contact Gale Norton and tell her the same. She doesn't need to delist Wolves in Wyoming, and she already has allowed more Wolves to get slaughtered in Idaho and Montana. Wolves do not need to be murdered for co-existence.
Please contact Gale Norton at :E-mail: gale_norton@ios.doi.gov

What can you do? First contact the Judge of the recent activities. Thank her for her support last month on the ruling and ask her help in stopping this recent attempt at more violence by the Wydeven and the WFB.
It isn’t ranchers (who don’t support non lethal methods or Predator Friendly Ranching) or the USFWS or the DNR in this article, it is hunters and outfitters that are also a driving force of hate and violence.
In particular, it is the Anti Wolf Coalition led by Ron Gillett and Jack Oyler (Email: Nowolves@centralidahowolfcoalition.com Homepage: http://www.usa4id.com/ciwc/) and their sponsors, the Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife (led by Nate Helm) Email: USA4ID@USA4ID.com Homepage:http://www.usa4id.com/ciwc/) who are a threat to the Wolves as well.
The USFWS and DNRs (those who murder within these organizations) oppress Wolves because they can and they are soulless murderers who believe Wolves must be enslaved by Humanity. They don’t care about ethics; they just want to get ‘the job done.’
The Anti Wolf Coalition and the Sportsmen believe that Wolves are a threat to hunting interests and hate their presence in Idaho. Fueled by pure hatred, and fear of something that is different than them, they want to eradicate Wolves completely in their state. The AWC has been around for many years, since 1999. They know that the USFWS already murders Wolves, and by showing their murderous hatred and crowds, they want the USFWS to murder more Wolves.
One of the worst parts is as this article points out is that they have their own ‘scientists’ to prove their racist and murderous ideals. The worst part is that this movement is growing. Of course them being totally insane doesn’t help either.
What can one do? Contacting these groups about their hatred and racism and getting them to stop it is one manner. Telling them that Wolves aren’t monsters, they rarely attack people and on top of that, if they did eradicate their own prey which was elk, there would be no food for them. This whole situation is because of hunters being selfish and not wanting to share with fellow beings who live with them. Hating them because Wolves are different and because they fear what they don’t understand.
Or as one quote that I remember that is quite accurate:
“It is an historical fact, sharing has never been humanity's defining attribute.” -- Professor X from X2: X-Men United
Another is warning your Senators and Congress people about it. Although most states don’t have the problem of pure hating gun toting hunters, it could arise in the future.
We have to let these racist men know that we are not going to tolerate racism, prejudice and unjust violence. Just as the Neo Nazi’s were stopped from marching in Germany recently (http://sf.indymedia.org/news/2005/10/1720450.php), we need to stand up to these people. Just because they are a big organization doesn’t make them right or justified. We have to take a stand now before they gain more ground and Wolves lives will be in danger.
Oregon Cougar Management Plan Means Slaughter for Thousands of Cougars Thursday, 12:03 PM ACTION ALERT FROM THE COUGAR FUND YOUR HELP NEEDED IMMEDIATELY! Comment deadline: October 2005
Constant attention must be paid to the actions of Oregon’s government when it comes to protecting cougars. Thanks in part to your diligent calls and letters, Oregonians managed to protect cougars during the previous legislative session from a well-funded assault to reinstate hound hunting. Unfortunately, OREGON COUGARS ARE NOW IN EVEN GREATER DANGER AS A RESULT OF THE STATE’S NEW AND REVISED COUGAR MANAGEMENT PLAN.
A MASSIVE STATEWIDE SLAUGHTER IS PLANNED UNLIKE ANYTHING WE'VE EVER SEEN OR HEARD OF IN OREGON OR THE NATION.
Oregon’s Department of Fish and Wildlife (ODFW) has a plan on the fast-track to authorize the wholesale slaughter of cougars in the state. There are public hearings planned throughout the state during the month August only. Please try to attend a meeting in your area and speak out for the big cats! Please refer to the “What you can do” section below.
What the plan does:
The Cougar Management Plan (CMP) has 4 objectives, all of which should be opposed:
1. Reduce the entire statewide population of cougars in to size estimated 1994 (before the passage of Measure 18) levels. This means a reduction in the population by a minimum of over 40%; from a pre-Measure 18 population of over 5 thousand cats down to 3 thousand animals.
2. Reduce the number of safety and pet-related complaints to 1994 levels; in 2003, there were approximately 900 in 2003 down to 500 in 1993--complaints are not a good way to measure anything since few can correctly id a cougar and media hype sends these numbers soaring--additionally, the method for collecting reports is poor and anybody can place a call, saying just about anything, and it is logged as a complaint
3. Bring livestock complaint numbers down to 1994 complaint levels
4. Bring prey (elk and deer) populations back up to 1994 management levels --'managing' cougars to keep prey at high levels so hunters have more to kill
Method of reaching these killing goals:
Oregon is divided into six hunt zones, and a kill quota is established for each of these zones to bring the cougar numbers down to estimated 1994 population figures for each zone.
Although cougars kills are at all time high in the state as of 2005, this is not enough to satisfy certain members of Oregon’s state government. To ensure the killing of cougars will have the most long-term affect to reduce the states cougar population, they will strictly target female cougars, thus ensuring cougar populations will very slowly (if ever) rebound to current levels.
The Plan aims to ensure the massive cougar quotas are met by hiring federal and state hunters to systematically stalk female cougars in areas around human population centers and in the forest where deer and elk are not as plentiful as they once were in '94 and which show (anecdotally) sport hunting returns have been poor. The government hunters will use traps, snares, poison and (of course) packs of dogs until up to 45% of the dead cats are females.
Please note that the plan does not allow sport hunters to kill the additional two-thousand plus animals, because to do so would represent the overturning the will of Oregon voters who have voted time and time again to protect cougar population. THE INTERESTED PUBLIC NEEDS TO MAKE IT CLEAR WE ARE OPPOSED NOT ONLY TO THE UNETHICAL AND CRUEL METHODS OF SPORT KILLING, BUT ARE OPPOSED TO THE WHOLESALE SLAUGHTER OF COUGARS BEING PERFORMED BY ANYONE, INCLUDING AGENTS OF THE FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENTS.

THIS IS THE BIGGEST THREAT THAT HAS EVER BEEN AIMED AT COUGARS IN THE STATE
Please, crosspost, it is urgent! help is needed! 11:57 AM The contact form to the Oregon governor is messy, and it is limited to 1000 characters, I have been looking through the net for his mail and it is impossible to find. I believe traditional letters could probably make more impact. Maybe, we could do a petition around this, because it is seems a TERRIBLE THREAT to cougars, this proposal. I have been surfing around the Mountain Lion Foundation, with my delay - because this problem has been posted there all summer, I believe - and have found there is another pression point here : http://www.dfw.state.or.us/wildlife/cougar/ (The Mountain Lion Foundation action alert link : http://www.mountainlion.org/action_show.asp?action_id=21 ) Please, if you haven't send the mail or a letter, do it! If you haven't crosspost this, do it! Do whatever, we have 10 days!
Remember, is IMPORTANT, and any help counts!

USFWS and DNR Want to Delist Wolves! Stop it now! October 28, 2005 2:44 PM
USFWS and DNR Want to Delist Wolves! Stop it now!
It started with an article that has the mass murderer Adrian Wydeven wanting to bypass the recent ruling of Federal Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia who prevented the murder of Wolves in livestock depredations.
The USFWS is the one’s that Wydeven sent the idea to get a permit to murder more Wolves and delist them in three states: Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota.
And the USFWS apparently supports the idea in the Northern Rockies.
Wolves don’t have to be murdered, period. Non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching proves that they don’t have to die. http://www.heartofthewolf.org/source.html
And delisting would be a death sentence for many Wolves.
What can you do?
First phone Judge Ellen Segal Huvelle and let her know of Adrian’s and the USFWS’ intent to defy her authority on this issue.
Her contact info is: Chambers: (202) 354-3230
Courtroom Deputy: Gwen Franklin (202) 354-3145
Court Reporter: Lisa Griffith (202) 898-0168
Second, call the U.S. District Court Judge Robert Jones of Oregon who has defended Wolves time and time again by not allowing them to be delisted to alert them of the danger to Wolves. (503)-326-8340
Write letters to the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife.
What you should have the focus of your letters be:
1) Althought compensation programs are helpful, what actually needs to be done is further education and implementation of Non Lethal Methods and Predator Friendly Ranching Practices. Wolves should not be murdered, period.
2) Livestock owners should not murder Wolves and should not be allowed to have permits to murder Wolves in livestock issues since it will most likely lead to slaughter. Peaceful means and living with Wolves without violent or oppressive means is the only way Humans can co-exist with them truly.
Written comments may be submitted to: ODFW Information and Education Division 3406 Cherry Avenue NE Salem, OR 97303-4924
F: 503-947-6009 E: Odfw.Comments@state.or.us
Questions regarding the rulemaking process or the draft plan may be directed to ODFW by calling Craig Ely at 541-963-2138 or Anne Pressentin Young at 503-657-2000, Ext. 285.
Mike Jimenez has recently shown his true colors once again. In an interview, he made a statement denying the constructive nature of Non Lethal methods.
A permit to murder two Wolves on a rancher's property since he won't take the time or effort to educate these same ranchers about Non Lethal Methods and Predator Friendly Ranching Practices.
1) First write to Mike Jimenez, the USFWS 'Wolf Recovery' Coordinator at mike_jimenez@fws.gov and tell him that murder is unacceptable in livestock issues. In fact the whole reason this problem is continuing is because he won't employ non lethal methods or Predator Friendly Ranching, so tell him this.
2) Write a letter to the editor for the Sublette Examiner and tell that non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching do work and are effective and the lack of responsibility for them being used not only causes the deaths of Wolves, but continues to create the rift that stifles peace between Humans and Wolves without violence or oppressive means.
Why did this all occur? Because they failed to use non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching methods. And these two failed once again to educate ranchers about these methods. Of course Sime 'claims' to feel remorse but we know the true goal of the USFWS.
As Ed Bangs said it himself in this article: He isn't concerned with the number of wolves that have been ordered killed.
So once again Carolyn Sime and Ed Bangs ignore the lives of Wolves and murder them without a second thought.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
First you can send off emails to Ed Bangs and Carolyn Sime
Both need to be first held accountable for these murders since they shouldn't have happened. Second, they need to be told to start using Non Lethal Methods and Predator Friendly Ranching Practices instead of murdering Wolves. The information that proves it is here: http://www.heartofthewolf.org/source.html
And they need to also be told to start respecting wildlife, not treating Wolves like garbage to just murder and do with as they please. Only through promoting non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching will peace between Humans and Wolves happen.
And write letters to the Billings Gazette.

Canada 'Conservation ' Officers Promote Fear and Violence Against Wolves! November 18, 2005 12:07 PM
Thanks Tracy for your support. I appreciate it. Now on to the new alerts for this week.
Canada 'Conservation ' Officers Promote Fear and Violence Against Wolves!
"People fear what they don't understand." -- Storm from X-Men 90s Animated Series
"Humans are capable of the most wonderful and the most terrifying things with the power of science. As a scientist, it makes me shiver just thinking about it." -- Ciel, from Megaman Zero 4
An incident has broken out in Canada. A man was killed in a forest at Points North Landing. The true cause of death is unknown. However, the Canada media as well as the Canada Environmental Department have automatically blamed it on Wolves. Although it is know that the Wolves predated on the corpse of the individual, these sources are acting on fear, claiming that the Wolves killed the man.
Because of this fear of Wolves, they have issued an order to destroy any Wolves that, 'attack' a human. Thus as fear leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. Even the 'scientist', Tim Trottier wildlife biologist with the Canadian Environmental Department knows that there has not been a Wolf attack on a human in 100 years! And animal attacks on humans are extremely rare. And they don't attack humans for the selfish reasons that humans do each other. Usually it is in self-defense, or someone violating their territory, or mistaking them for food.

Please act now! The lives of Wolves depend on you!
Instead he decided to side with USDA Wildlife Services (under the direction of Rod Krischke) who wants Wolves murdered. They both have been involved before in several Wolf murders. In fact, it was a murder of an Alpha Female and her pups!
1) First contact Mike Jimenez (mike_jimenez@fws.gov), and tell him that this outrageous form of violence and oppression is not acceptable. He needs to stop his murderous rampages and start promoting non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching.
2) Also contact Rod Krischke (rodney.f.krischke@aphis.usda.gov) the director of USDA Wildlife Services. And tell him that Wildlife Services should not be about murdering Wolves in livestock depredation issues, but promoting non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching methods that allow co-existing with them without violent or oppressive means.
3) Contact Jim Magagna (wsgajim@uswest.net) of Wyoming Stock Growers Association. This man who represents ranchers, needs to stop his pathological hatred of Wolves, murdering them and start promoting peaceful means to prevent livestock depredations.

Canada 'Conservation ' Officers Promote Fear and Violence Against Wolves! Part 2.
Recent horrific events have continued in Wollaston Lake area, Saskatchewan, Canada. At first it was Wolves who were framed for the death of a man. And Tim Trottier had made it legal for Humans to murder Wolves in 'self defense'.
Fear leads to hate and hate leads to suffering. Now the cycle of murder of innocents has truly begun. Two Wolves were murdered as a result of this whole incident. Whether Trottier was involved, is unknown. http://www.cbc.ca/sask/story/wolves-tested051116.html?ref=rss
What Can You Do? 1) First contact Tim Trottier. His invovlement in this incident is highly likely. Please contact him at ttrottier@serm.gov.sk.ca And ask him to stop the Wolves from being murdered. The last two should be peacefully relocated from the area of this whole disaster. 2) Contact the Minister of Saskatchewan, David Forbes Minister of Saskatchewan dforbes@mla.legassembly.sk.ca, DForbes@serm.gov.sk.ca And tell him about the situation and have him help save the last two Wolves of Wollaston Lake area
3) Contact Dave Phillips of the Resource and Environmental Stewardship Division at DPhillips@serm.gov.sk.ca and tell him the same.

Don't See Film Version of Chronicles of Narnia! November 23, 2005 2:02 AM
Don't See Film Version of Chronicles of Narnia!
Wolves falsely portrayed in film version of Chronicles of Narnia Film!
As you readers are most likely aware of, the film Chronicles of Narnia, made by Disney, will be out in theaters on Christmas Day. I am sure due to the current population of the U.S., many drones will see it and it will make millions of dollars.
However, I for one will be one of those who will not be seeing the film. Why you ask? Check this out. In the film, there is a scene that is not in the books that will be defacing the Wolves.
It is a scene where Wolves are chasing the main protagonists to a chunk of ice where they are trapped. Then one of the children uses the staff he was given to help him and the others escape.
It's rather sad considering the film's creators decided to import them from New Zealand just to be portrayed as 'evil animals.' Not to mention this is going to leave the impression on children for years that Wolves are evil.
Oh yeah, did I forget to mention that you also get to fight Wolves in the home game based on the film?
As one critic describes:
GamePro The between-level load times are also slow, but the greatest concern is the unhelpful and idiotic friendly A.I. that leaves you alone, fending off hordes of attacking wolves while your siblings stand stupidly by.
Don't blame C.S. Lewis for the fact that his movie has been altered severely. He was a lover of animals and humans alike. In fact, he said this once.
"If we cut up beasts simply because they cannot prevent us and because we are backing our own side in the struggle for existence, it is only logical to cut up imbeciles, criminals, enemies, or capitalists for the same reasons." -- C. S. Lewis
So I think he would have a beef with not just the movie but the game as well. And I am sure he is also rolling in his grave right now.
So thanks once again to Disney (who once did this in the animation adaptation of Beauty and the Beast), Director Andrew Adamson (The Creator of Shrek) and his staff for making a film that perpetuates Wolves as being monsters and evil.
You won't be getting my 9 dollars. And I hope those who love animals and respect life won't see this movie or recommend it to children for the same reasons above. So pass this on, if you could.

Switzerland, a country with only two or three wolves, is trying to
downgrade the animal's conservation status and allow it to be hunted
across Europe.
The Swiss proposal, which was submitted to the Council of Europe, will be voted upon at a meeting next week.
Switzerland should immediately withdraw its proposal and instead work to maintain the wolf's protected status in Europe.

New Wolf and Goat story!
Arashi no Yoruni (On the Night of a Storm)
A very cool story about a Wolf (Gabu) and a Goat (Mei).
It has captivated readers from children to adults. Hopefully it will come out in English soon! And the author Kimura Yuichi is really fond of Wolves and has written alot about them.
Here is an interview with Kimura for more information.
Once again this is the prime arrogance of man. The arrogance that humans can do whatever they want whenever they want in the wild without repercussions.
It is also the prime result of who suffers in barbarous hunts. Wolves and other creatures. Hunts by those who derive pleasure from blasting animals to pieces who can’t defend themselves from weapons that can instantly kill them.

Colorado Sanctuary Faces Closing - Possible Euthanasia December 09, 2005 11:38 AM
Colorado Sanctuary Faces Closing - Possible Euthanasia
The following is a heart wrenching story of an animal sanctuary similar to Big Cat Rescue in Colorado facing closing and possible euthanasia of some or all of its animals. Please read through the story.http://cbs4denver.com/pets/local_story_339170918.html
Please visit their web site - www.wildlife-sanctuary.org - and make a donation. As one of the volunteers has said, any little bit will help put a dent in their crisis.
“Wild Animal Sanctuary”
1946 WCR 53 Keenesburg, CO 80643 303-536-0118 information@wildlife-sanctuary.org
The center should in addition not euthanize these animals, but find safe places for them to go as well. Animals shouldn't be protected from atrocity, just to be murdered. Please donate now to slow down the process of the closure of this Sanctuary.
In particular, it has been revealed that the Wolf's name is Maverick and that he came from a Black Mountain's Full Moon Farm.
The founder Nancy Brown decided to use the Wolf in the film, despite knowing that the Wolf would be portrayed as evil. In this new article that has surfaced, she has pulled a tactic known as greenwashing. Greenwashing is when someone who commits and atrocity against the wild and tries to cover it up by claiming to do something ethical.
In this article 'Screen wolf', she actually believes that although the Wolves were portrayed as evil in the film, that the big myth of the big bad wolf will be dispelled because he was a higly trained Wolf.
Millions will see this film and see the Wolves as monsters. And since when did Wolves become dogs? I know most Wolf Sanctuaries out there, like Wolf Mountain Sanctuary thrive on educating the public and treating the Ambassador Wolves with respect, rather than making them like pets and saying it's a good Wolf so its okay to use it in a film as evil.
This is greenwashing at its finest, and it is a shame that real Wolves have to be involved in this scheme. It is also hypocrisy. She didn't have to use the Wolf known as Maverick in the film. She could have educated the populace about Wolves without having him in the film as an evil monster.

talks about a museum that opened up in July of this year.
It is called the Sheets Wildlife Museum. And want to know how many animals are in this museum that he has murdered for the fun of it to put on display?
97 animals and 87 types of fish. In this article the founder Summer Sheets tries to say he loves animals but he just loves to murder them. And Teresa Daniels, the museum director thinks it's great that kids can see murdered animals from hunting and thinks it's ok.
One of the most disturbing parts is that this newspaper was promoting this horrible museum and it's owner in this article as well.
And tell why you think that this is horrible and that animals should not be murdered for the entertainment of people and placed in musuems. And that this didn't not have to be promoted in this newspaper.
Mike Jimenez Murders 3 Wolves and Plans to Murder Entire Pack! December 13, 2005 10:54 AM
Mike Jimenez Murders 3 Wolves and Plans to Murder Entire Pack!
Mike Jimenez, who continually ignores the use of non lethal methods and refuses to promote them and Predator Friendly Ranching, has struck again. He has murdered 3 Wolves already of the Daniel Pack and plans to murder the rest.
In the meantime, it should be known that the notorious Wolf Murderer Carter Niemeyer is ending his reign of terror in January of next year. Althought the USFWS thanks him (obviously since they as a whole have been involved in the thousands of Wolves murdered in the states of MT, WY, and ID), there will be a permanent article that will always remember these victims who fell to him.
Of course his email address, to for those interested is: carter_niemeyer@fws.gov
It is even more disturbing since the contact information for Park County Predatory Animal Control Board and Craig Acres, district supervisor for the federal government’s Wildlife Services agency, cannot be found, at least on the web. One thus cannot contact both these parties and tell them that what is going on here is wrong. That non lethal methods can prevent these conflicts and that the murder of Wolves is not the answer. Which of course flags conspiracy.
All parties here including the murderous Rod Krischke, state director of Wildlife Services have a role in this.
Non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching (http://www.heartofthewolf.org/source.html) are being denied and not used to peacefully prevent livestock depredations by Wolves. All these parties know what is going on here, that they refuse to prevent conflicts and incite more by using murder to solves this issue where it has time and time again.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1) First contact Commissioners Marie Fontaine (mfontaine@parkcounty.us) and Tim French (tfrench@parkcounty.us). They need to know that continued Wolf Murders are unacceptable. Non Lethal Methods and Predator Friendly Ranching practices work and that their implementation and education to the ranching populace would stop this situation peacefully. Since contact information with Craig Acres of APHIS/USDA/WS cannot be reaches along with the Park County Predatory Animal Control Board, they are the ones who have to hear this.
2) Rod Krischke had a hand in this considering he and the murderous Mike Jimenez of the USFWS in Wyoming work together and slaughter Wolves. He isn't concerned with the success of Wolves. If he did he wouldn't have participated in the 37 Wolf Murders in Wyoming that occured this year whcih 13 are in Park County!
He needs to be contacted at (rodney.f.krischke@aphis.usda.gov) and told that the handling of this situation should have never reached this point. Non lethal methods and Predator Friendly Ranching has been proven time and time again. The lack of implementing such measures has created this conflict. He needs to stop participating in this business of murder and start promoting these peaceful methods to successfully live with Wolves.
Field And Stream Wolf Hunt Poll--Vote No! December 22, 2005 11:32 PM
Field And Stream Wolf Hunt Poll--Vote No!
The recent disaster in Canada where Wolves were blamed for the death of a man and as a result two were killed in spite of them not doing anything wrong (see http://www.heartofthewolf.org/CanadaWolves.htm for a complete breakdown of the situation) has come to a climax.
Field and Stream, the magazine that loves hunting, of course wants to use this to start hunting them.
Please drop by and vote no for hunt on Wolves. If anything this whole situation is the pinnacle of human atrocity.
In the first fatal attack by a healthy, wild wolf ever documented in North America, an ecology student in Northern Saskatchewan was killed and eaten in early November. << and Eaten >>?? So we want to know, do you think it's time to start hunting wolves? Yes No
They also have their own version of events which of course blames the Wolves for the incident and want them hunted. They also have their own insidious archive of propaganda making them look bad.
It is an article which the author gradually becomes one who abhorrs murdering of animals, to one who finally accepts it. It is an article where, Sherry Simpson doesn't mind the destruction of Wolves. She also is present in vivid detail of the skinning and defiling of a Wolf that was murdered by a trapper.
It's rather morbid considering that this article is from a site called Creative Nonfiction. Is Creative Nonfiction the murder of a Wolf, skinned and used as property? It is it Creative when the author of this article willingly watches all this happen while doing nothing about it?
No!
An aticle from a site that is called Creative Nonfiction must be one that promotes something philanthropic in nature. We cannot let a site that is supposed to be creative think that articles like this constitute creativeness.
Lengthy replies with really ethical thinking behind them is needed here. We need to show the illogicalness and unethicalness of what is going on here. Creative articles on this site shouldn't have opinions that support murder.
ALSO CHECK THIS OUT: I discovered a really disturbing product that claims to support Wolves but in the end supports the hideous regime of the USFWS/USDA/DNR.
Black Mountain's Full Moon Farm connected with Gentle Jungle! December 27, 2005 8:59 PM
Black Mountain's Full Moon Farm connected with Gentle Jungle!
Thanks to a tip, it has been revealed that Maverick from Black Mountain's Full Moon Farm was sent to a place called Gentle Jungle to be used in the film. As it turns out, Gentle Jungle has a notorious history of using and abusing animals for Television and Movies. Below is the correspondence and the individual who kindly revealed another wheel in the conspiracy in Narnia.
From: **********@*****.com Date: Tue, 27 Dec 2005 00:06:03 EST Subject: Chronicles of Narnia To: mike@heartofthewolf.org Dear Mr. Wagner:
While looking for facts on the way Wolves are portrayed in Narnia, I happened to find your website. I too wrote to Miss Brown, and recieved roughly the same letter as you did in return. But, I did some searching and found all the other wolves were supplied by a place known as "Gentle Jungle" (this is also where Maverick the wolf dog has been sent) I also wrote an email to them saying how wolves should not be potrayed as evil, becuase they are gentle ,intelligent creatures. I have just recieved a response, and was appalled at what they wrote! Their reply is exactly as follows:
"You obviously have never watched three or four wolves eat something while it was still alive. Do you think Anthony Hopkins is a mean person. It is a movie!"
I looked into this "Gentle Jungle" a bit and found a few articles about them being involved with animal abuse. Including the following from here:
"Clyde the orangutan died a few months after filming Any Which Way You Can in 1980.
During a federal hearing alleging animal mistreatment against the training company, Gentle Jungle, an assistant claimed a trainer beat Clyde with a cane and an ax handle.
Gentle Jungle was fined for other abuses, but not for harming Clyde -- at the time abusing primates was not illegal."
I noticed a few other articles talking about their animal abuse, and saw animals in small concrete cages on their website. I would like to inform as many people as possible about "Gentle Jungle" and their cruelty to animals... And I believe maybe Miss Brown would like to know the facts on where her wolf dog was sent.
I just wanted to inform you of this, since your website was a good source of information. I figured you, and other people who want to help wolves would like to know about "gentle jungle"

For those that wish to fully understand the suffering of the dogs in Sri Lanka, here is a very short video of what suffering the live dogs are enduring.
The images are graphic but are very real, needed to highlight why a clinic is needed to help these suffering animals.
The images are of live dogs, living with the suffering you see, whose only outlook is to die in a way that no animal should endure.
