Please read and write a letter of support to.......... October 09, 2005 10:54 PM

I found this list in a different group but was given permission to share it here with each of you. Below is a list of military personnel currently in Kuwait who could really use some "positive" letters from home.

What do you write to a stranger you might be wondering? You can write about where you live, the holidays, how much you appreciate their service to our country etc. Write about your baby taking their first steps, the lasagna you ate last night..ask them about themselves, their families, their hometowns, most of all keep it focused and POSTIVE!

What not to write! Now this part seems to be the most important, only because they are already a long way from home honoring their oath of service. Please don't write about politics, how much you disagree with the war, the deaths of soldiers, sailors, marines, coast guard, air force, army troops, civilians, etc.

Keep it light, fill it with your life, things you do....what you had for dinner, Halloween...anything that is not negative in any way.

Why? We are a
support group and a group of good people with wonderful values or you wouldn't of chosen to be a part of this group.

Let's take this opportunity to show our military people how much we appreciate each of them, send them a piece of home here in the good 'ole US of A.

With that said.....here we go.....

Support A Service Member....have someone to add to our list? July 27, 2005 1:04 AM
What a great idea Margaret shared! The first email submitted was:

flounderusmc1997@yahoo.com

Wondering if anyone in our group has a family member or knowledge of someone away from home who could use some bright email in their box?

My Ex told me one time that the guys on the ship who didn't get mail, use to share the guys mail who did. Sort of sad if you think about it...but what a friend who is willing to share their mail with someone who has no one out there.

Well,  if you have anyone to add to our list...please feel free to do so. Would love to start a chain of support for those at home and abroad.

Isn't that sort of what it is all about?  If it is only an email or a snail mail that makes the difference in someone's morale and puts a smile on their dial, than maybe those writing gain as much or more than maybe those receiving.

Take it light,

Leese

A question... December 14, 2005 7:58 AM

Hi Lisa,

I was wondering, I saw your above list of names and I had a thought...I see that you have mentioned for letters, postcards, cards...would it be possible to send a care package to this group as a whole?  And if so, would you happen to know if they are all in one area and who the head officer would be that the package could be forwarded to?  I am a former Navy g/f and quite familiar with how to send the overseas packages. In fact, I think that I still have some packing tape stuck to me as well as those pesky styrofoam peanuts that just won't seem to leave one alone!!! haha.  Anyway, would love to once again share a 'bit of home' again to someone that cant be home for the holidays.  Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hugs, Geri

I have some slippers a lady made to send over.  I just can't afford to send them. There are 20 pair.

Caroline,

What an awesome thing for someone to make.  If they are in barracks, they can use them at night.

My hubby recently lost his job, or I could send the slippers.  Maybe someone else in our group can help out with the postage or a group of collective people.

So, if there is anyone willing to help out with getting these slippers to some of our troops, please speak up.
