Callie's Ability to read Nature November 24, 2005 1:25 PM

They say we're in for a heavy winter, here in England. Callie has grown a really thick coat, which is unusual for her as she's quite thoroughbreddy really, and her winter coat hasn't been this thick since she lived out when she was younger. A funny little memory of her neck when she had a thick coat about ten years ago kept crossing my mind towards the end of the summer, so I think now, that I was somehow linking in through my connections with Callie and I was getting signals that this winter was going to be heavier than usual too...and now according to Callie's heavy winter coat this year, it certainly is.  [ send green star]

they know best! December 17, 2005 12:44 PM

My guy is an OTTB,and he has a fantastic coat grown in to protect him this winter,I'm guessing that we here in the north east USA,I'm from Maine,Are in for a cold winter as well. They certainly do know best don't they?If we as people could watch our animals, and trust in them more we might be better off.Just my thought.Hope you'll have a wonderful holiday season. I've been experimenting with communicating with my cats and Callie by seeing a mental picture in my mind and watching their response. For instance, when I want a cat to come in for food I visualise the plate of food as I'm looking at the the cat and I'm trying to ascertain if their response is quicker than if I just call them in. I have one very nervy cat that seems to be responding far more rapidly to this. I think Callie responds exceptionally well, but it was her reactions to my thoughts that set me trying the experiment.  [ send green star]

Callie is eating plenty of young dandelions at the moment, they must be good for her at this time of year.  [ send green star]

to rug or not to rug? October 15, 2009 3:57 PM

The nights are drawing in and it can be cold at the top of the Chiltern Hills, where Callie is stabled. She has her rug on at night now and if she needs it taking off the next day, because she is warm, she calls Jo, one of the owners who goes up in the morning, until Jo takes her rug off. Callies communication ability has caught on around the herd... now, if the horses want their rugs off, they all let Jo know! All heading over to her or calling until she has removed the rugs. Yesterday, it remained cold all day... none of the horses called or went over to Jo, they carried on grazing with rugs on and ignored Jo completely.  [ send green star]
