Chrissy, Toby is one smart fellow and such a handsome boy.
I got Henry from my vet. One of the techs had a cat that had a litter in her barn, and I had just lost my Manx, Casey and they knew I wanted another black cat. He was so cute as a kitten, a big furball that wagged his tail like a dog and the HUGEST six week old kitten I had ever seen. The vet tech kept one of the other kittens in the litter, a tabby and she is big but none were as big as Henry, he is 23 lbs. The mother cat was a little delicate thing.
I found Monkey by my mailbox the day of the 9-11 bombings. Henry was about 8 months old when I found Monkey and he would play rough with him at first, Monkey was just a little baby, now those two are the best of friends.
They eat Pro Plan Adult and Senior.
Hera and Olympia are doing great, mama kitty is staring to wean them; the trap is just casually set up in the yard, not set, so mama kitty will get used to it. Will try to trap her first when I'm sure the kittens are weaned.

I do not take pictures now,because all my Persian babies are shedding and look like s/h exotics!Mori the dog is also shedding but it does not show much!Until they grow their new coats back there will be no new pictures of my babies!

The gray and yellow one is Scooter is a bobtail she to is a rescue cat I brought her from Ohio for she was a little thing and out in the elements, and I knew she would be pregnet all the time. Sunday morning and it's pretty cool here in Boston.Looks like it's going to rain anytime now which I hope it does.Love rainy days!!I took the dogs out for a walk and came home and now they are eating breakfast and I just finished feeding my ferals outside. I love watching Mama and Baby Tabby right before they eat, they smootch eachother eachtime before a meal,it is so sweet to watch. My husband is still in bed but should be getting up within the next half hour and will most likely ask if I want to go out for breakfast. Think I'm gonna start making baked french toast for him,he will love that plus I love cooking!

Hi Angela-
Congratulations on your new part time job-that is great! Dante is loving the pumkin I mix in with his food and he appears to be all better from last weekend and moving his bowls normal again. We too had a major heatwave at the start of the week but it finally cooled down a little by yesterday.It is suppose to go to 90 today.I just spent the last hour watering all my shrubs and turned on the sprinkler for my grass.All the cats are outside hanging around enjoying there Saturday!! I just started a new p/t job as a CNA for an elderly couple in their home and don't get home in the evening until 10:30, so I haven't checked in for a few days.
Chrissy, I am so glad to hear Dante is doing much better and that he is enjoying the pumpkin!
It has been extremely hot here in Florida this week, 95-100 and HUMID, humidity is so thick you could cut it with a knife. We have had several bad storms with golf ball sized hail, big lightning and tornadnoes in the area. Henry, Monkey and the other indoor cats spent one morning underneath the bed, I am very scared of storms. 2004 was a horrible time here when we had 3 hurricanes pass right over us within a month, thought I would have a nervous breakdown. All the ferals went into the shed/barn and are accounted for.
The baby ferals (as yet un-named) are doing well and growing like weeds.
Everyone be careful in the heat and drink plenty of water and check the ferals water often to make sure all have plenty!

Hi Lill-Yes, we have a brutal heatwave going on here in Boston.Toby was outside my door when I came home from work, just laying there, so I came in got settled and got his water and food ready and brought him into the house.It was way too hot in the room I normally keep him in so I put him down here with me in my office and he was so happy to be in a cool room just chillin!!! My husband just went up to our bedroom to watch tv in the AC up there and he took Toby with him.Toby loves to lay with him in bed and just watch tv!!! MEN!!! I hope you get those showers Lill because then it will cool everything off and that would be so nice!!

I buy all kinds of meat,then I divide it in small portions,depending how many kitties you have and what kind of mix do you plan to cook.Lets say you want the following mix lean beef,turkey- white/red meat ,beef heart,chicken gizzards and liver....mince it,mix it together .I usually cook small carrots and a little pieces of zucchunni in water before I add meat untill it is well cooked then I add the meat mix to the same pot, no salt.boil it for few minutes only to kill bacteria add a tea spoon of quick cooking oats,also depends on how much water you added and if your kitties like it dryer or more broth.
You can boil chunks of different meats and fish and organ meats separately and then mince it and mix it and add broth and whatever veggies or grains you like,like wll cooked rice,for instance.or well cooked oats Just remember the proportion 90-95%meat mix the rest grains and veggies!We are feeding carnovores!!!! NO ONIONS,CABBAGE POTATOS,PEAS,PLEASE!!!!!!!ONIONS ARE TOXIC FOR KITTIES,THE REST WILL GIVE THEM GAS.
Instead of a fish I add a spoon of salmon oil.Depends on the taste of your kitties.IF YOUR KITTIES LIKE HARD BOILED EGGS CUT IT AND MIX IT TOO some times.IF THEY DO NOT LIKE THE SMELL OR TASTE OF THE WHITE,GIVE THEM THE HARD BOILED YOLKS IN THE MIX.
Give them some cottage cheese,plain yougurt.for a source of calcium.It is also good for digestion,if your boy is constipated If they like milk and have no problems with it feed it in moderation.
In my kitties the moderate amount of milk will soften the stool just enough to pass it easily.,without making a mess on their butts.
Hi Angela-Thanks, I will watch today to see if Dante is urinating.I guess I just assumed he was and only thought he was constipated but I will now definately look for him doing both.I will also get some pumkin mix in a can and mix it in with his food for today until I can go real shopping Tuesday to get the other things for him that Natalie mentioned. That is so good of you Angela for taking care of Mama and her kittens but just awful that someone just dropped them off like that.That is great you already have the plan set for them to get use to the trap and then off to be spayed/neutered!!!
Natalie- Yes, I refresh Dante's water twice a day.once in the morning and then again at night and he gets a bottle of poland springs with ice cubes so he gets fresh water daily. As for the food you mentioned, I will now look for those items on Tuesday when I go shopping.This is something I will have to really take my time on and read since I have never even thought about that before but I will now do it. Now say if I got the heart and liver gizzards how would i cook those for him??Boil them , I know I would saute or fry them so how do you do it? Sorry bout all the questions, I just want to make sure I understand the right way.This is alot of great info so thank you very much.

Chrissy, the kitties and mom appeared at feeding time one morning last week. I live in a rural area and it is common for people? to drop off unwanted animals at night, which is very sad. The kittens are nursing still and eatng kitten chow and Friskies kitten canned. Mom is eating the kitten chow too, which is good for her to get extra nutrients. The other ferals seem accepting of the new arrivals so far. Kittens are skittish but are letting me come closer. I am going to have to get them used to seeing the trap so I can get them TNR'd. Mama cat seems semi-tame so I think I can trap her pretty easily. I just don't know whether to try to get them all now or wait a week or two since they are still nursing and seem unaccustomed to eating solid food.
Dante could have struvites if he is straining at the litter box; watch and see if he is urinating; if he is not and is straining and crying when he gets in the litter box and not urinating, you need to get the vet asap as this means his urinary tract could be completely blocked which is an emergency. If hes peeing and you said he was "scooting" and staining the rug hes probably constipated. 1 teaspoon of canned pumpkin mixed with his food daily really helps with that, I had a Manx that had Megacolon because of genetic problems and my vet reccomended the pumpkin which helped Casey a lot.

Chrissy,You can check the super markets or local butcheries what they have there.Lean beef,lamb,chicken,duck,rabbit...Shop around !!!!Organ meats are heart,liver gizzards...Heart is very important to add to every mix,because it is a natural source of taurine.
I use Quacker Quick cooking oats to add to the broth to make it creamier.Just one table spoon.I always feed them chunks or small pieces of different meats that I mix,but because Dante does not have teeth,it is better to mince and add some broth.Do not forget WATER!!!!
He must always have water,clean and fresh ,and always available.I usually change water twice a day.Morning and evening.
Natalie- I adopted Dante 3 years ago and he is now between 7-8 years old. Where do I buy that muscle and organ meat you mentioned?At my grocery store where I shop? Then the oats,like the oats I make oatmeal with,so I boil them and add them to the meat?

I do not feed my kitties and the dog any commercial diets!I prepare myself all their food which is 90-95% meats for cats and slightly more grains and veggies for a dog.I had pets all my life and never had any problems with a real food diet!
I have adopted pets with severe IBD and FUS ,allergies from commercial foods,that is why I never feed my pets anything that was canned or processed.Besides,it is not a secret that commercial diets are full of grains and animal by products ,but no actual meat.Commercial diet are the cause of diabetes-high level of carbs,kidney failure-chronic dehydration,cystitits/bladder/kidney stones,IBD,DENTAL DISEASE,FELINE ASTHMA,YOU NAME IT......
You can buy any muscle and organ meats and mince it ,add some well-cooked carrots zucchinni,a spoon of quick cooking oats ,cook it slightly and feed Dante.

Hi Natalie -Good morning to you!! Dante eats wet food only and he has been eating those FRISKIES MEDLEYS they come in a small can and that is his favorite.Also, he eats the other FRISKIES wet food that comes in the bigger can.Dante has not had dry food in many,many months now because he had all his teeth extracted except a canine tooth.He had a infection so my vet took out his teeth.So for his food that is all he eats. Thanks for the info I am gonna keep an eye n him today and if I need to call my vet then he will have to come over.He is a traveling vet so all of Dante's vet visits are done here in my home.I pray now it is nothing more serious.

Changes in your kitties litter box behavior can almost always be traced to a medical problem.Straining is not necessarily the sign of a constipation.Straining could be associated with bladder problems or intestinal inflammation and is often confused with constipation!

Hi everyone-
Late yesterday afternnon I noticed Dante kneeling in his litterbox trying to go to the bathroom but could not.Then he got out, and looked to see if anything was there, walked around the basement and tried to go again wherever he was walking and again could not go.He then through up all of his food from yesterday. He came upstairs to the family room, and tried walking and straining all over the room and still could not go.He then went back downstairs and wipe his bum on the rug and finally got some out.He then cleaned himself and came upstairs to sit with me.I did not feed him the rest of the night until this morning.So I am waiting to see if he is back to normal or if he is still constipated.Poor little guy.

Thanks Christine, Ketsele was a "walk'in," she just ran to me one day, when I yelled at her. She was just sitting in the street, crying. Gizmo was another rescue. A lady my sister knew was taking him to the pound. Their both the youngest. Mau's getting up there, he'll be 15 this year. Dookie is 12. I loves my kitties.
I forgot to say... Mau is the gentlest critter I've ever seen. He used to carry Dookie around by his neck when Dookie was a baby. Mau wouldn't hurt a flea.

This is Dante sitting down in the basement on the dryer.He looks out at the cats and they come to the door to see him.Dante loves all other cats and wants to be friends with all of them.This is also where he meows from to tell me the cats are hungry and waiting for food!! Mugsy is NOT feral he started coming around a while ago and he was stray and slowly started to make friends with the others.He is a big chubby boy now and so loveable,just meows and wants his neck rubbed! Him and Tuxedo Tomcat tolerate eachother but are really not friends.He gets along well with one of my kitten ferals, Baby Tabby. I have not been able to get a new picture of Mama Tabby and her baby Tabby, but I will and will post them for you guys to see.

Hi Lill-I am home today, not working but I am making homeade gravy/sauce for my friend Jennifer.I will put some aside for my husband so he will have some but the whole pot is going to Jennifer's house ( my best friend since the 4th grade) I won't have any because I don't eat meat but yes I do cook it for my husband and friends and especially when I make a pot of gravy/sauce-the Italian way right? I went shopping real quick at 6 this morning to grab tomatoes and everthing else i needed for it and now it's been simmering for about an hour but I will have it simmering all day and again tomorrow when i get home from work then over the weekend and I will bring it to Jennifer's house Monday morning but I am surprising her with it. I will post a picture for you guys to see.

Hi Lill-Yes, Dante loved his grooming and is so much enjoying his shave.It was 80's here the other day and Dante was nice and cool and was not uncomfortable,this is something I will do for him every year because his fur is so thick and lots of it and it's hard for him to keep it up daily and then I have to deal with his knotts/matts and try to cut them out and he hates that.Also, not to be gross but there have been many times he used his litterbox and got messy messy all over his bum bum because of his fur-poor baby!!

I loved all the pictures!Dante is so precious!I love all cats,ferals,pure breds short,long haired.... and everything about them.
My friends know that Persians are the love of my life and I have a bunch ,quite a BIG bunch of these precious babies at home.
I also have ferals in my yard.These guys deserve much better life !

This is my tamed feral Lil Devil watching Tinkerbell while she is outside.When tinkerbell was outside or lil devil was inside He was always watching and protecting her.No they are not family and he didn't bring her.

I have other ferals in my backyard in addition to Toby and Tuxedo Tomcat but I need to take some more pictures for you guys to see.Some of the others are skidish and run when they see the flash or me so I will snap some at feeding time they never leave there food!!! This is Toby who I trapped and neutered about a month or little more ago.He is FIV positive but loves his life now.He sleeps in my spare room at night then goes out during the day.He has come along way because there was a time when he did not trust anyone and now he is as loving as Tuxedo Tomcat..
