I am visiting England, my home for 19 years and so happy to be catching up with old friends. What this means is that it is not always possible for me to get here.

This is me in my favourite town of Totnes, Devon.

Hello...I am out at Chip Lake which is a favourite place of mine.  I have been working on a big project. I have a BootCamp coming up and I am making up the menu this week. Just finalizing it right now! It took me a five days to do but it is looking good.

As you know spam is big on Care2 and in this group because it is the largest. I delete posts almost every day.  I cannot be here 24/7 so sometimes a post stays up a little too long.

What you as a helpful member of this group please:

  1. Flag it; when enough do this it will automatically be deleted.
  2. Do not reply ever as that brings it up to the top.
  3. If you want to be very helpful; reply to 3 other posts so that the spam does not show up on the top. This is what I have done in groups that I am not a host and know the host cannot get there pronto.
  4. And if you message me to tell me you have done that; I would be very happy.

Yep, I just deleted my double post and there it still is. Don't dare do it again as I may delete both.

seems that way. Good shot you got the spammer but it seems deleting isnt the only problem I see... b/c even your post had doubled itself.

What a pain that spammer was!!!!

I kept deleting the posts over and over and they would still be there.....due to Care2 latency.  I was never sure if I had deleted all dozen or more of them.

If something like this happens again; this is what you do:

  1. Do not reply to it......we do not want to help them advertise.
  2. Send me a message telling me.
  3. Flag the posts.
  4. Then bring up one of our real topics and leave a comment.
  5. Do that 3 times then the spam does not get number one space in our group.
  6. It is important that I am messaged tho because I may not see it.

Having trouble deleting all the spam. Please do not reply to any of the spam posts as we do not want them on the top.

Enjoy your holiday, Diana H., but don´t stay away too long, Care2 needs people like yourself

You are welcome Annie.

This is one of the few posts that I do make it so the last post is the first one you see because the old announcements are not so relevant any more. I want people to see the latest as it is usually very important.....even if it is me going on holiday.

Thanks Diana   the other thing I really like is to have the topic's first post heading the posts rather than the reverse with the last post at the top as its hard IMHO to get a reading flow which is actually reading backwards. i tried it your way in my groups but it was pretty confusing.

I really like this format as its not as clumsier than the old format and you can add your coloured folders rather than files. I keep my current files in Pink, interesting files/topics in Blue etc...but all in all im so pleased the groups'  format has changed.

Well done!!

Happy to hear that from you Annie; thank you.  I was not sure how it would be for everyone.

Thank you thank you thank you Diana b/c now we can address everyone rather than trying to remember what was said in posts or opening a new tab which we shouldnt have too. Thanks......... great job in changing...

Some of you may have noticed that it was impossible to post in this group because it was in the old format. I like many things about the old Care2 format which is why I hung on to it.

But the time finally came for me to change over to the new Care2 group format.

How does this work for you?

Yes Cindy, apricots have a bad reputation from being picked green. Also not all apricots are the same. I like the plumb juicer ones. Almost the only time I enjoy them is when I get them direct from the Okanagan. These ones are very yummy and organic too!

Oh so lucky you! I love apricots! I have not had a good one in years! We used to get really good ones in CA at the farmers fruit stands at the orchards, but in NV they are shipped in and probably when they are green and they are just nasty. Have a blessed day!!

I am back from a holiday in the Mountains and the Okanagan holiday. Brought back a case of apricots which all I can think of doing with right now is to simply eat them as they are so good.

Hi Michelle and Sheena. great to hear that you enjoy this place.

It is so hot in Edmonton and everyone seems to be happy about it. When it gets to 30 Celsius that is just to hot for me.

But then I hear that there are places in the US where it is a few degrees higher then that. Hope you are finding ways to keep cool and hydrated.

Sticking with it until the end!

Yes, we all go there! For me this is one of the reasons I follow a body based method (Tai Chi) because the body gives very honest feedback! I can't fake grounding and balance! But I can learn to adjust and deepen my balance in response to both a partner's force, and my life. Best wishes, Richard

I so know what you mean! I am one of those who stick with it till the end; sometimes the end came and I did not realize that it was time to go.

Thought for the day

I was wondering why I had lost interest in a creative project that had been inspiring me. I realised in the end that it was actually 'done' I know what the steps are and just need to take them . My thought for the day is, know when you are done for the day! Best wishes, Richard

yoga talk

Yes, even the same body over time. When I was in my 20s and stretching a lot, I was, as you described it a pretzil..Now in my 50s and with far less time I am less flexible but able to get a lot out of my practice through using the breath and awareness.

My experience with yoga is that it deeply changed my life as that was where I learned how to breathe.

Also, I learned that we are all born with a bodies that are not the same. Just because someone can become a pretzil and another cannot does not mean the flexible looking person is deeper or better. Some people are actually born with shorter muscles and will never be able to do that amazing thing.

What do you think about Yoga?

I read an interesting article today about a Yoga studio that was teaching Yoga as a traditional art, and it was surprising to me that this seemed surprising! What is Yoga to you? s it just for fitness, or more? Best wishes, Richard

Joy of Tai Chi

Just finished my daily Tai Chi practice and felt so grateful to have learned this wonderful exercise that is a health giver as well as a metaphor for life. As I learn more about the Tai Chi principles I learn more about my life. That's it, a small celebration! Best wishes, Richard

Aww thank you Mongi for those lovely words and flowers. How were you to know those are one of my very favorite flowers.

I do work at keeping this group together and have the help of so many wonderful members. What makes this group work is the sharing what we have learned and commenting on what each of us shares.

So keep it up I say to all of you....thank you.

Hi, I'm a student nurse. I've just started a group - Angels in sensible shoes - for nurses, carers, healthcare assistants etc to discuss healthcare issues and share stories, as well as people not working in healthcare but who have spent time in hospital to show appreciation for the work of nurses etc and show support for issues affecting nurses e.g. understaffing, pay cuts, back injuries, etc.

Anyone who's interested in health issues and health reform, considering a career in healthcare, suffering a longterm illness or disorder, looking for advice, promoting healthcare petitions etc....all welcome. Should be a pretty active group once I get a few members . Green stars to anyone who joins! =)
Please join and recommend to friends.
Thanks =)

Hello all! New here and excited to meet you all :)

Hi all!!! I am super new to this group as well as Care2.com but I absolutely love this site and am so glad I discovered it. I am a health student majoring in Health Science with concentrations in School and Community health and love learning all I can. I am also someone who recovered from a 8-yr battle with an eating disorder and now hope to help others with eating and body image issues. I am the Downtown Baltimore Eating Disorders Examinerat Examiner.com and have articles with various health topics (and interviews w/comedians random lol) at Suite101.com.  I also have a blogwhich has nothing to do with anything and is pretty much me being random and ridiculous as I am a silly, silly person outside of my professions lol. You may contact me at any time and if there is a topic/cause you feel strongly about in the area of health etc. I will be happy to look into it for you and draft an article about the subject Sorry this post was LOONGG can't wait to get to know everyone! Whoot!

Finally I am here again! The storm on Monday evening took the internet away; the guy from Telus arrived last night!

Lightening struck my house! Suddenly there was a Clear sharp sound like glass cracking; louder then anything I have ever heard in my entire life. No space between the lightening and the cracking sound.

I know you may have noticed that I have not been very present here for a while so I would like to update you as to what is happening.

10 days ago my mother went into the emergency hospital. A few days later we were told that she would be dying soon. It was a shock as we had no idea there was anything that wrong.

Two days ago she died. I was with mom right through to her last breath, holding her hand; looking into her eyes while my sister was on the other side holding her. I am grateful that I got to be with her.

It was lovely is that I had the chance to spend some real quality time with mom; I had some of the most precious moments I have ever had with my mom in the last few days.

One sweet memory while my mom was dying: She turned, looked at me & said "You are so happy" which made her smile & I knew she saw me.
