The story: My
sister called me today while I was doing transport for the pregnant
pitty. She had went to a yard sale in Kings Mtn, NC. The guy came out
side and a dog came out with him that was skin and bones. The guy
yelled at the dog and forced it back inside. When the dog turned around
my sister noticed the back end of the dog was missing and appeared to
have flies and bugs all over it. She called me....
I called
animal control who did go there and the man denied it. He said the dog
ran away. The officer searched his house and property but no dog was
found.. After speaking to a neighbor I confirmed the dog has been there
for the last year or two and has been roaming the neighborhood with
this wound for at least 2 weeks. I decided to take matters into my own
hands and went and explained to the gut that I was not with animal
control and am an independent rescuer and that if he would sign the dog
over to me I would get it taken care of. He said ok and went outside
and got the dog out of a drain pipe. He put the dog in my car and
signed the papers. I informed animal control of this and he said he
would take care of it from there.
The owner, if that is what you
call him, claims the dog chewed his tail off and he could not afford to
take it to the vet. In my opinion the it looks like an axe was used and
chopped his tail off to make a wound for a bait dog.
Now, I have
the dog at my house. A vet friend of mine took a look at him for me
today and she says that since it has been there for at least 2 weeks
that I should not spend the large amounts of money at emergency vet and
we started him on antibiotics and pain medications. I am taking him to
my vet Monday to see what needs to be done. If anyone is interested in
helping with medical bills please let me know and as soon as know what
the treatment plan is I will direct you where to send money. As of
right now it will be ConoverVetHospital103ThornburgDrSE. Conover, NC 828-465-5720.
The Shar Pei rescue of Virgina has agreed to take the dog if they can
find a home for it. Until then he is here at my house. I have named him
Cezar!
Your in Texas right?? If so can you post a photo and info and contact info for Dora there (or if you want them to go to your site) and I'll copy it and forward it around to my friends that are in Texas for you to hopefully help find a good family for her. Hugs! Jamie

Litter of Boxer Puppies to be Gassed Tuesday Morning!
We
ALWAYS make the save when a litter is to go down. Lets try to do it
again!! These puppies are so precious. They are little 7 week old Boxer
mix puppies. We need to get them OUT of Gaston County and into a vet
where they can be quarantined, vetted, and have some down time!
Believe
it or not these little puppies have been deemed UNADOPTABLE! What??????
Little 7 week old Boxer puppies unadoptable because they are SHY!!!
Lets
get them OUT of there. There is alot that goes into pulling puppies.
Litters are expensive because they must be quarantined which means they
usually stay with a vet for 7-10 days and they need to be fully vetted.
Can you help by sponsoring?
All puppies on
this page come vaccinated, dewormed, fecal exam, and have a valid
health certificate. You must sign a legally binding spay/neuter
contract for any puppy under 5 months. You are responsible for the cost
of spay/neuter but we will assist you in low cost spay/neuter options
in your area. Once you show proof of spay/neuter we will refund you
$50. His adoption fee is $350. Please keep in mind we quarantine all
our puppies for 7-10 days after vetting and before transport. If you
adopt one of these puppies it will take a little over 2 weeks to
receive them.

Authorities said the dog was doused with gasoline Wednesday in the
1700 block of Calhoun Street in southwest Baltimore and then set on
fire.
Baltimore city police Officer Syreeta Teel said she used her sweatshirt to put the fire out.
The dog, who rescuers have nicknamed Phoenix and Lil Mercy, was
taken to the Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter, or BARCS, and
then taken to the Swan Harbor Animal Hospital.
"This was one of the most cruel things I've ever seen. It hurt me to
my heart," Teel said. "She was screaming, rolling around on the ground.
I've never heard a dog make that sound."
Phoenix was covered in salve, wrapped in bandages and given pain medication.
"We're going to do quite a bit of prayer, a lot of antibiotics, a
lot of bandage changes just sometimes, the body just kind of goes
into shutdown, really," said veterinarian Dr. Marcella Bonner.
Bonner said the dog had burns on 98 percent of her body.
Pennsylvania's Main Line Animal Rescue said it will give the dog a
window of several days to see if she responds to treatment before it
considers putting her down.
"I think she's going to get worse before she gets better, if she
does get better," Bonner said. "But she's trying. I can't believe she's
even survived what she's survived."
No animal deserves this type of treatment. This is one of the most severe cases of animal cruelty Ive ever seen.
- BARCS Executive Director Jennifer Mead-Brause
Phoenix is getting help through a BARCS program called the Franky
Fund that helps homeless and abused animals get the medical care they
need.
Those who donate to the fund can help cover the cost of Phoenixs
initial treatment and help others like her. To do so, visit the BARCS Web site.

Police currently don't have any information on an owner or a suspect.
A reward of $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the
arrest and conviction of those responsible. Call 410-396-4698 and ask
for the animal enforcement officer supervisor at the Bureau of Animal
Control or call police.
If no one is caught after six months, the money used for the reward will roll over into the Franky Fund.
